With this in mind

1. Oregon

2. Georgia

3. Boise

4. ASU

5. Texas

6. PSU

7. Notre Dame

8. OSU

9. Tenn

10. Indiana

11. Bama

12. Clemson

Works out nicely with no conference rematches and it flows logically. Puts PSU and Texas on opposite sides of the bracket from their conf champ opponents.

Well the networks would certainly love those 1st RD matchups: Clemson @ Texas, Bama @ Penn State, Indiana @ Notre Dame in state, Tennessee @ Ohio State.  In a future where there is no deserve, only ratings this very well could be what the committee decides on though they could flip flop Bama and Clemson

0.0% chance PSU is ahead of us

Doesnt matter, they wont do it

If we are they’ll justify it because Penn State has a “current ranked win” and we don’t.

I dont think they would do that. They would want to avoid a conf matchup in the first round. Also Texas earned the 5 seed.

I think the CFP will use close losses as an excuse to create their rankings.

1. Oregon

2. Georgia

3. Boise

4. ASU

5. Texas

6. PSU

7. Notre Dame

8. OSU

9. Tenn

10. Indiana

11. SMU (or Bama)

12. Clemson

They could fuck SMU of course. But I think the rest will fall the way I listed.

Flip Clemson and SMU and this is how I have it.

There is not much worse than watching a bunch of old white people sitting in a room watching 3 TVs acting like they know what they are watching and have any influence over what they are going to announce tomorrow morning … when everyone knows it’s other old white people execs at Disney and Warner Bros sitting in their penthouses that will really decide

So, fuck old white people? I'm in!

Okay but we have better and closer losses than them. We also have a much better SOS and have been ranked ahead of them all year. Why would that suddenly change now. Also, we are Texas and being a helmet school gives us the benefit of the doubt.

We have also lost to the only team with a pulse that we’ve played.  Our schedule in reality has also been dog shit.

Would it surprise you to learn that, going into this weekend's games, our SOS was 3rd strongest of the top 12, behind only Georgia and Alabama?

We’ll see what they ultimately decide, but there is a lot of debate online outside Texas circles about whether Penn State and/or Notre Dame should be seeded ahead of Texas.  Really hard to predict how the committee will go, but I think it’s only realistic to assume ratings matter

He didn’t play another play after his helmet lost 10 yards on the play. Bet he’s in concussion protocol for at least a week.

There was only one play after that. And they have 3 weeks off now.

Dude, PSU wont be ahead of us, stop. Notre Dame has a better argument than they do.

But that was the case yesterday as well, and they had us ahead.

Fucking Illinois? A 9 win team who beat 2 directional Michigan schools?

Yeah think they go 5 Texas, 6 Penn st to ensure the only way a ccg rematch would be in the NC

This, exactly this. It is on a silver platter for the committee and they will take it. Then with ND at 7, they get the intra state matchup with #10 IU. OSU #8 and Tenn #9 has been set for weeks. That just leaves 11 and 12 to sort out and we all know its gonna be Bama 11 and Clemson 12.

us getting the 5 would be a good offset to leaving Bama out.

So what are likely matchups?

ND (5) vs Alabama (12)

         (4) Arizona St

Texas (6) vs Clemson (11)

         (3) Boise St

Penn St (7) vs Indiana (10)

         (2) Georgia

Ohio St (8) vs Tennessee (9)

          (1) Oregon

I’m not sure they’d knock ND to #7. Easy justification because of the NIU loss but the committee gonna committee, same reason Bama might still get in.

ND is either #5 or #7, there is no in between. Texas and PSU are both ahead or both below them. I think ND is absolutely behind both. Their loss was terrible and their SOS was even worse.

Playing ASU in their backyard would suck but that’s the bed we made.

oregon choosing to play us in Miami to avoid a semi in our backyard would be funny though

ND also didn’t play the extra conference championship game. It’d be bullshit to rank them higher.

Yet they might punish SMU for the extra game. Committee gonna committee.

I'll just be surprised if they drop 1 loss ND to 7, but maybe it makes a statement for them to join a fucking conference

But it's really only dropping them one spot to #5 in the rankings (jumped by Georgia). It's simply not dropping Texas or Penn State behind them for losing competitive CCGs.

PSU, Texas and ND all had one loss before the CCG.  ND has BY FAR the worst loss of the 3 and the lowest SOS.

Bama getting butt fucked by the worst OU team in 40 years should be grounds for auto denial to playoffs.

Yeah, smu seems like they should be in the CFP playoffs over a bama team that only scored 3pts vs blOU

I agree it should happen, but I think it also matters where they want to put Alabama in relation to Clemson. I think the committee wants Alabama traveling to South Bend in December. That's a made for TV matchup

SMU's only realistic shot was winning the ACC. It was never a given they would be in the playoff if they lost. That's not the case with either Texas or Penn State.

It's not happening. The SOS is way too big in favor of Alabama. SMU lost to the 2 best teams they played this year. No one they beat was ranked very high by the committee. They aren't using a single game to decide.

The way I see it is

1) Bama is really flawed but I would much rather play SMU or Clemson over them.

2) Boise State is the ideal match-up in the quarterfinals. They have played nobody and have been in a bunch of close games.

That Clemson (rd 1) and Boise State (quarters) is the ideal draw.

I think ASU will be #4. BSU will be #3.
