I rewatched the highlights of Reese’s hit. Did you hear Beth goof up and say she got a hit to pitch?

She also said Kavan pitched her third complete game shutout of the CWS, in a game that ended 2-1.

Well, third complete game earned run shutout! And 5th of her career

I’m not sure if it was on the broadcast or elsewhere but I saw an interview with some TT players talking about the wild  shit Glasco would dial up on the pitching machine. Probably something like your talking about.

yes, Texas has one for baseball I've seen it and it's insane. IDK if it works for softball.

Let’s try Simpson at DP. How much worse could she be than what’s been there?  Give em all a shot.

The options just fucking suck.

It's Katie C's turn to suck.  But at least she has 4 doubles, 2 triples, 4 HR.  And 2 of those HR came against a top 8 finisher's pitching (Florida).  And she's drawn 17 free passes (14 walks, 3 HBP) and laid down a clutch bunt in the Clemson series.

Does softball not have a similar rule to football about burning redshirts? Bc it should, so I could just throw Vivi out there as DP.

If there were any real loophole, I'm guessing White would have first exploited it in Game 1 against Clemson.

They did  mention that her deal was only for 1 year. She 1000% should tell them to at minimum double it.

Or what?

Nico 2.0 written all over that.

The smart thing for her to do if she really cares about a championship (and they don’t rally this year) is to say she’ll take a pay cut if they commit that money to bats.

I know there’s not. I believe he was asked and said they didn’t want to burn her medical RS just for the postseason

And I think the question was specifically about her bat and not defense

One would think that a medical redshirt should be available whether an athlete plays the first x% of games, the last x%, or any number in between that equals x%.  Whatever x might be for this purpose.

She still has a regular red shirt available, but I guess if that allowed for limited play she would be playing by now.

interesting, so she's taking a medical which leaves her still with another redshirt I guess.  I'm not sure the logic but I assume she can't practice if she takes a medical and it would be tough throwing her in after not see game action for a long time?  I suppose if she gets hurt again she could take her normal redshirt?

All I know is they didn’t want to burn her this year. She will have 2 full seasons after this year

I have the same thought. At least she doesn't swing at bad pitches and she can get a bunt down moving a runner over. That's a whole lot better than a strike out.

I'd like to see Hunter get a chance to straighten that near HR out vs watching #3 and #4 strikeout.

She's been doing the same thing all season. What makes you think all of the sudden she's going to change? You would think by now she would know to wait another 1/10 sec before she swings.

I'm all for VH or KC in the lineup. They both have the ability to accidentally run into one and get a HR. VQ is fun to look at, and not much else and I'm not sure how Adaya Wallace is on this team.

AW is Reese's pinch runner late in games.

That's it.  She should not be getting plate appearances, she doesn't do anything but run fast.  If she's at the plate, it should be nothing but bunts.

So the clip has been posted around the country and on here numerous x's.....but what kind of of confidence, softball IQ, faith in yourself (O- for the series at that point) does one  need to say to yourself  AND act, "I am gonna turn on this ball and push it through the infield for the winning hit AND RBI's". ??

Think of the commentary if she had hit it to an infielder, pop up, line out for the third out. Nope, instead a game winning hit that surprised everyone.

Listening to the color commentator do nothing but laugh, you know that NO ONE but Reese knew that was gonna happen. Wow, just Wow.

She's a gal, but super Big Cajones, Brass Balls, needs a wheelbarrow...etc. Just a GOAT act at the WCWS no less.

Next year when all scholarships are fully funded, I would prefer Mike use that money on someone who can actually play they game that they are here for. There will be lots of small, fast kids in the portal that can lay down a bunt or get the occasional start in the field.

It being basically a BP ball and judging by her swing she aimed it and drove it down at least in my opinion.

Cimusz has shown power and some bunting skill, and she's seen way more live game action over the years than Hunter or Wallace has. (Brister's clearly not an option.) I've been on the KC train for weeks now and would love to see her get her shot tonight. She's just the kind of player who could make a positive difference.

I am all for telling Wallace and Brister to go somewhere else; same for Hunter, and use their scholarship money for some big heifer who can mash the ball.

Speaking of fully funded scholarships, have you heard anything about what schools are going to struggle with this?  We won't.  OU will make sure they have the money, this is their gold standard program.  I assume most of the major SEC programs (Texas, OU, Bama, LSU, Tenn, Florida) will be fine.  Idk about aggy, their financials are a mess.  LSU always finds the money; there's always money in a children's hospital being closed.

I sure as hell wouldn't commit to fully funding scholarships for Courtney Deifel, she ain't going to get to OKC with or without them.

Nico hasn’t shown he is good at football though. This chick is the best pitcher in softball. If she asks for more, she’ll get it…either at Tech or somewhere else after seeing what she single-handedly did for Tech.

Even if they stay you still have room for more, having a bench full of super stars doesn't always work.   You need some role players that can just be good in the dugout.

That’s easy to do for someone like Tom Brady who was already a multi-millionaire. But these are the peak earning years for Canady. Not a lot of money in professional softball.

Yeah I don’t actually  think or expect she’d say take some from me and give to others.

But the idea that she has leverage to tell tech to pay her more is silly.

No doubt, but Brister, Wallace and Hunter haven't done *much* of *anything* is the problem.

Brister can allegedly play in the infield, but what we saw was not pretty.  Wallace is perfectly fine if she wants to stay as a pinch runner.  Hunter can't really hit good P4 pitching - she's a fine pinch hitter in spots, but your DP cannot be hitting sub-.250

The fact any regular starter on our roster hits below .300 is pretty abysmal. Goode is just shy of .300, but she has power (9 HR) and has saved our bacon at SS many times.  Bennett is going back to the bench when Goode moves back to 2B - not even sure she warrants being a defensive sub.  Hunter can come in as a pinch hitter, if she wants to stay.  Wallace, as a pinch runner.  Neither Hunter nor Wallace has a defensive position to play.

It's not silly at all. She has all the leverage. Her initial 1 million dollar deal was for 1 year. She is the entire history of their softball program. You're actually braindead if you don't think she has leverage.

I think all the power 4 schools should be okay. Fully funded scholarships are a game changer for the bat and ball sports. Getting a 100% scholarship is better than most have been getting in NIL for the bottom 1/2 of the roster. Back in the day, pitchers and big power bats got all the real money and the other 20 odd players on the roster split 9 or 10 scholarships. My daughter was very fortunate in that she got 80% her freshman year, and then bumped to 100% for her final 3 seasons. Most of these kids are paying for school to play a game.

Seriously

OU is, yet again, graduating an ace.  Don't tell me the Love family can't find $1.25 million in their couch cushions and make her an offer.  Gasso will get over the "unfairness" to the rest of her roster.

All it takes is one former player, married to someone rich, to want to do what Tech did and make NC a better offer.

You know coaches across the land are thinking, "Man, I've got better hitters and fielders than Tech does. If we never gave up an earned run, she'd win her title here. Too bad we just don't have the money."

So it still baffles me that we're not facing her in an Oregon uni this week. I guess ol' Phil simply doesn't care about softball. Maybe we'll confirm that after this series.
