Not a strawman.

@Captain Ron can  speak for himself but I’m by no means saying CP OR WM shouldn’t be on the roster or even not be starting, I just want them to play better when they play the for the Nats.  Given the level they play at vs their performance with USMNT it is hard not to be annoyed.  They are pros, they can handle some criticism.

Pulisic plays like a fucking legend for the NT what are you talking about?

@Captain Ron can go fuck himself btw.

Jk. We can figure this out. We're all adults. I think we're the top 3 posters on this thread.

I just dont like guys like CP and McKennie catching strays from the Berhalter era. That doesn't seem fair to me.

Sorry for jumping on y'all about that it just kind of pissed me off.

He has, when he wants to.  he totally bitched out this summer though, I lost a ton of respect for him over that. Maybe you don’t, that’s fine.   But he’s also been the best player on a team that barely qualified for the WC in 24, team sucked last Nations league, sucked in the Copa.   At some point he needs to do something to elevate the team.  He’s a great club player.  Was supposed to be a game changer and generational player, to this point he isn’t close to that for the national team.   Results matter.  He has don’t anything  that our guys before him didn’t do, much less actually.  And cries

Yeah it just seems like you like bitching about everything.

Your Pulisic diatribe is hysterical, by the way. I mean he is by far and away the best player that this country has ever produced. It isn't even close.

Why don't we all take a deep breath and get ready for the Gold Cup final and quit talking so much shit about our best players.

We can quit arguing about Christian Pulisic right now.

Luna has the makings a guy who is an ace for a national team, but pro career ceiling might be the eredivisie.   But that hamster is fun as hell to watch for the Nats.

Luna is the kind of guy that you want your teenaged daughter to have an affair with while his wife was home taking care of their baby and you thought that your daughter was at the mall with her friends.

You can't project Gold Cup results all that much to what it would take to make a World Cup run. Berhalter won this tournament with a B/C team pretty recently and we looked great at times while doing it.

We won every game 1-0 except Martinique. We never looked great in that tournament except against Martinique but maybe you are referring to that performance.

Is it possible to agree that CP is our greatest player ever but taking the last competitive tournament off before a hosted World Cup is a pretty shitty look? Nobody here is saying he shouldn't be on the roster next year, but he's also not immune from criticism. The best players for other countries are not taking this summer off, and they played just as much, if not more than CP, this past season.

Regarding Sunday, I fear we are going to roll out the same exhausted lineup again and it's not going to be pretty. I just don't see how Poch can run Arfsten out there against this Mexico side. He is going to get absolutely torched.

the puto chant = us fans are woke?

what the everlovingfuck

in the context of "us fans softness/wokeness" how does that relate to the game on sunday?

contemplate your answer carefully

re: cp i agree with him and so does juergen klopp - playing 22 months in a row is bullshit

furthermore, in the global soccer economy, some, but very few, fucks are given about a tournament that includes teams that are not members of fifa, is always played in the same country, and features b/c players from the host nation's exhibition league that doesn't align with the global soccer calendar, does not have real competition from promotion/relegation and continues to make up 'rules' to 'explain' how the single entity does business with the rest of the world

Yeah I said it. What?

i’m under no illusions that Pulisic won’t be on this roster come 2026. But the way he handled himself this off-season‘s been pretty terrible if you just taking the summer off and shut the fuck up, I could’ve dealt with it, but to bump his gums troll people on Instagram and not telling his dad shut the fuck up was a bad look.

In the end, what I wanna see from individual players and the team is a whole is fight  the B team seems to be bringing it. if that carries over to the A-Team awesome, then we’ll be unstoppable.

And make no mistake I know who Pulisic is. He is far away our best player both now and historically. And he has his moments, but he also goes hero ball at times, and it hurts the team. If he finds a way to put it all together with this team, he can take us a long way. And frankly, I think this summer would’ve been a great way to find it with this next level of players.

Anyway, whatever we’re in the final, let’s see what these guys can do.

A few months old but Gillis with a dead on accurate take about the softness/wokeness of US soccer fans. Relevant with the game on sunday.

WTF are you talking about? Your ass like braying causes my ears discomfort.

These are FIFA and CONCACAF protocols. No one on that’s a US fan gives a shit about that stupid chant.

Well I think we can all agree that what this thread needs is hawt takes from Shane fucking Gillis of all people via Helobious.

While we're stirring the pot, is this an OK time to talk about how Tyler Adams, who is objectively a very good soccer player and a guy we need badly, has been pretty fucking mid in this tournament so far?

re: unstoppable

cp is our best player

on the top 10 national teams, he's 1 of 20

he might be in the top 5 for a denmark or portugal

the dutch exposed how far behind we are

this "golden generation" was a false dawn - we're still decades away

the only way to accelerate our progress is full and complete adoption of and integration in to the global soccer economy, and that's where we've been since jeonju, 23 years ago

re: adams

i forgot he was on the pitch

if i have time i will rewatch last nights game looking for his contribution or lack thereof

part of the problem is in the united states, especially on fox, soccer pbp have NO FUCKING IDEA how to call a game without constantly spewing extemporaneous bullshit

8, 9, 10 touches in a row will take place without the name of the touching player being spoken; it's an infestation across all competitions

another thing holding us back - kids who don't watch european leagues have no idea how a game is supposed to be called and therefore have no exposure to run of play in true high-level competition

My last thing on CP - if the guy shows up tanned, toned and ready next time he puts on our shirt - all is forgiven.

Yeah, I haven’t been as negative on Agyemang as this thread has been.

He was fucking terrible last night.

Also Luna running down that dogshit pass and making something out of nothing is exactly the hustle/heart the team desperately needs.

Luna was on McAfee today, and Pat was saying the same thing.  Not going to list the whole series (9 total) but here's the intro:

no girding at all

my position on the deportation/citizenship topic is cr not dt so i'm not happy with how we got to this new paradigm because our federation and mls ownership could have put an end to it 20 years ago with just a spoonful of sugar but have you not noticed the change in behavior of latin fanbases at this tournament?

not one piece of trash, not one cup, not one can, not one bottle has been thrown and zero fights in the stands

I was referring to my very low expectations for our boys.

No doubt, these other fan bases have been fantastic, and without getting CR myself, I'll just say it's a shame how things have gone to get us here.

v the betting favorite Mexico.

They are favored but the line is pretty tight.

Not sure what to expect. Like I said last game I'd put Adams at LB and bench Arfsten - but I'm guessing Poch keeps kicking the can down the road and hopes that we find enough offense to win or get it to penaltas.

Anyone else planning to go? Prices holding pretty steady so far - $150 for nosebleeds, $250+ for a decent seat.

I'm still considering it but hoping they'll ease up some. Stadium is 10 minutes from my house.

I wouldn’t expect it, look at how the ticket prices were for that game at Q2.

If I still lived in Austin, I’d probably be in Houston tomorrow and pay whatever it took to get to the game

About to leave SA and head up for the game with one of my brothers and @midtown.  We got some nosebleeds.

I think we're going to get dos a ceroed.  Tillman is beat up and prob tired.  Richards and Luna can't do everything.

Go America anyway.

Lol.  The best player on the 2025 Gold Cup roster was left off the 2024 Olympic team.  Way to go US Soccer, way to go.
