Everyone but Ant and McDaniels is expendable.

Naz has largely been a bum this playoffs. He's been a total disaster tonight and it's not even halftime. I'd let him walk.

Rudy probably isn't going anywhere but I'm not sure he's even one of their main problems.

Mainly I think they need a new head coach and some fresh faces. Ant is him. You have to do everything you can to make it work around him.

I think they have to keep Naz - he's still pretty young and you hope this series is just an aberration.  The problem for Minny is that they don't have many avenues for improvement outside internal development because of their cap situation and lack of tradeable draft picks.

Presti also traded James Harden to keep Ibaka and Perkins.

I've never heard anything to suggest that was the case.

The idea was that Presti saw Harden as superfluous in a way that Ibaka and Perkins weren't.

They could have amnesty waived Perkins and kept Harden.

It's one of the greatest fuck-ups in NBA history and it needs to remain part of Presti's legacy. It appears that he's on his way to absolving himself but it's been a long road back.

Extremely embarrassing showing for the Wolves.  Hard to see where they go from here other than change parts on the edges.  With no real picks, they'll have to get lucky in development or free agent market.  Could they get someone to actually pay for Rudy?  maybe.  That could be a way to clear some cap space and get some draft picks and reset.  I don't know, then you risk losing Ant, although he's signed for awhile.  Regardless, they need to find a Robin who can make Ant better.

Ant needs to do some soul-searching, too.

His idol KD would have never gone out like this.

There are levels to this shit. Ant needs to navigate towards the next one.

Is Durant to the Wolves in play?

I mean that's what the WWE writers would draw up.

Would have to be Randle or Gobert to the Suns - but I don't think Minny has many picks.

It’s a little more nuanced than that, but sure. He also has spanked the entire league with his more recent trades and acquisitions. Dude is a witch.

we own 17  and 31 this year. but we're second apron so we cant send more players out than we take back in a trade. it'd be a difficult trade to pull off. theres some questions first like is Conley/Ingles done. Julius opt in. etc.

. Luxury tax increased, OKC would have to pay the repeater tax, the NBA fucked OKC by bumping KD’s contract, ownership didn’t want to pay, Harden also rejected their offer forcing their hand. Yes it was a shitty trade, yes it fucked them, but it’s not as simple as “Presti traded him to keep the idiot from ESPN”.

Kerm gets the context.  They didn't want to pay the repeater tax, they were sort of landlocked with Perkins in trading and they thought they could get a hometown discount with Harden and offered under market.  They offered undermarket with Ibaka too and he signed first.  But Harden wanted to start and wanted starter's minutes too..... And he obviously showed he was worthy of being a starter and he gave NBA fans all sorts of failure in big moments and unclutchness that we can enjoy forever.

I love you and I know that we're Spurs bros but please don't attempt to lecture me about this shit. OKC could have amnestied Perkins' contract and let him go but they elected to keep him. Or they could have shipped Ibaka.

Keeping Harden would have been easy. It was a huge fuck-up from Presti and I bet he regrets it every day of his life.

so i live 5 miles from my sister, tonight before game was my nieces bday. i left her house before tip and got 1.5 mi or whatever away when tip off started and listened to our 3-0 lead.

by the time i got on the interstate to travel 26 blocks and got off the off ramp, we had missed about 5 other shots, had some turnovers and went from up 3 to down 11-3 before i got home. this game was fucking over before I even got a chance to turn on the tv. think when i got home it was 17-7 and it just snowballed

Will be interesting to see how high Minnesota will go to keep Naz Reid, who will undoubtedly decline his player option this summer.
Let Randle walk if he declines the option.
I mean, they really can't afford to pay through the nose to keep him, but they also can't afford NOT to either.
NAW is also a FA and he's had some moments this playoff.
Minnesota really needs Shannon and Dillingham to turn into consistent NBA players.

Naw will be a bad contract for somebody. Someone’s gonna overpay him big time. I suppose joker could make him better but look at his game logs…one good game for every 6-10 average, bad or pisspoor games. I don’t think his defense makes up for his poor shooting

He was a throw in the Conley/dlo deal but he is not a playoff riser. Excited to see good Shannon jr and Clark get his minutes

I love his defense, which the Nuggets are lacking, and he can shoot the 3. That's all they would need from him. And he'd get a lot of wide open looks playing with Jok.

But someone is going to give him way to much money, for sure.

Yes, Harden was such a stud with serious playoff pedigree.  Him AND WB are fucking losers in the playoffs.  He could have stayed and still fucking lost.  Durant was the only one worth keeping of those three.  And if he doesn't dump Harden maybe he goes and keeps PG douche and has the loser trio of Playoff Pussy, Westbrick, and Fat Harden... God damn, that's a serious big 3.  GTFO

Without a doubt Presti regrets that Harden deal but he's been fun to watch in the meantime. Sending an aging Serge Ibaka to Orlando for Oladipo and Sabonis? Then sending them to Indiana for Paul George? Then flipping him to LA for SGA, Gallinari and 5 first-rounders? You reckon Michael Winger regrets that trade?

It's wild how much the Thunder catch so much hate when they're literally the blueprint for building a winning culture from the ground up. No super team (Presti tried that and failed with Russ, PG13 and Carmelo), no drama, just straight-up hard work, player development and unselfish basketball. The best defense in the NBA. 80 wins so far this year. Not bad.

I was a Shaggy regular back in the day and started all the regular season OKC Thunder threads on this board. I tried to tell this place Sam didn't trade Harden for the reasons they thought he did. It was like running backward uphill. The sides were clearly far apart unless you think Presti traded Harden over a difference of a couple million in base salary per year, which was so uncharacteristically like Presti from what we knew before that and since then.

Rudy Gobert is probably the most worthless offensive big man I've ever seen.

If we're digging up past OKC trauma, I'd throw in Kendrick Perkins having a 30% TS, negative win shares, and insane 36% TOV during the 2013 playoffs.

When he’s gone he plays like an all star. Unfortunately many nuggets can hoist 3s…doesn’t mean they’re gonna go in lol. Kinda like naw. He shoots many 3s, many wide open, but he’s more likely to brick. His numbers significantly drop in the playoffs

Defense will be there tho

He had just totally disappeared in the finals vs Miami too.  And look at his G7 stats over his career.  He’s total trash in the playoffs.  The fact anyone would regret dumping him, much less Presti, is laughable.

Also, the strip clubs in Houston >>>>> Oklahoma City

Nothing we know about James Harden suggests he would have stayed in Oklahoma for a discount to play third banana behind Durant and Westbrook.

Also, the game was slightly different at the time with more traditional post players and Presti felt they would need to counter that with traditional post defenders (Perkins, Ibaka, Adams, etc.)

As a podcaster once said (cant remember which one), the simple explantion is Presti just liked the deal. Slorch's ransom, if you will.

Thought Kevin Martin would replace 80% of Harden's production or w/e. Lol

Presti almost pulled off Harden for Klay. They were working on a deal. Then Jeremy lamb had the summer league of the century and pivoted there.

Also, had he drafted Giannis instead of Steven Adams, you'd never hear a peep about the Harden move but Giannis was a complete unknown at the time.

They needed a center badly at that point. So the Adams pick was fine. Obviously not Giannis but an integral part of a bunch of good teams.

Not a chance in hell that Presti regrets shipping off that underperforming malcontent Harden. He probably laughs his ass off about it during every post season.

hes an advanced metrics demon. and if youre at this point of rudys career thinking he's going to suddenly turn into Hakeem Olajuwon, well thats on you. he still alters decision making at a high level. He's shut down SGA plenty of times this series where he's either had to kick it out, traveled, missed etc. it doesnt show up on stat sheets but he does all of those things well. probably not worht the 40,000,000 hes making but you live with it

tldr if you can get 12-18 pts in a game from rudy, thats a lot of house money

i just don't watch enough MIN games... when i do, he's standing around, fumbling the ball out of bounds, turning his shoulder to not get dunked on, etc... it's as if i'm Rudy Gobert kryptonite. I haven't seen him block a shot in years (I know, he was DPOY last season...) his 12pts / 11bds / 2.2 stocks just seems so pedestrian.

Went to the OKC/Minny game last night.  A few observations.

1.  Major troll job by whoever runs the OKC jumbotron.  If the second quarter, the showed highlights of steals from...the first quarter.  Lulz.  Also, every time the Minny coach would protest a call, the jumbotron would immediately switch to him.  Ha ha.

2.  I stayed at the Omni and my room smelled of weed.  I saw Game 2 and stated at the Omni and the hallway smelled of weed.  (Room was fine.)  What on earth could be connection between those two days?  Hmmmm....

I went down to the front desk to just ask if they could spray the bathroom.  I wasn't mad and thought it was kind of funny.

"Yeah, Timberwolves are one of the smokiest teams out there.  Them and Ja Morant.  Who he play for?"

3.  Rode the elevator with hot gal trainer for Minny.  She said "We're glad you beat Denver.  We hate them and all of their fake injuries.  Jokic is a flopping bitch."  Ah, sports hate....

3.  Dort was on Edwards like a venereal disease Ant likely got from one of his baby mamas.  He made it difficult for Ant to even get across the court off ball.  He was working his ass off for everything.

4.  Minny has roster problems.  (Duh.)  They have too many one way guys.  They all seem pretty one way except Ant.  Gobert is functionally useless.  Chet outplayed him in all facets of the game.  Gobert can dunk if he's wide open but that's about it.  Take away the 13 points he somehow got in Game 4 and he averaged 4 points per game and a very underwhelming 6 rebounds.  Not sure what to do with him as his trade value isn't great.  Conley is also an offensive zero but I'd imagine he's about to retire.  Maybe they can package some of those bench guys with Gobert and get some more scoring and keep Randle or something.  I dunno.

Utah 85 wins in 3 years and trending downward.

Minnesota 165 wins in 3 years and pick ahead of Utah in the draft this year.  Not a single vet from that trade is still on Utah. and their picks from us are likely going to suck. Utah has no foundation and lost out on Flagg adding 3 years to their rebuild. minimum.
