Still think we close out with a decent portal haul and kick ass next year but I would rather we landed our top choices.

It’s something…

In regards to the current OL portal situation, I see that the pollyanna crowd is now at this stage:

Get him in the weight room for a few months, put some good weight on him, and we'll have an athletic guard who can catch batted down passes.

I would be happier about this if it didn't very possibly mean the departure of Kobe Black. Black has been at times frustrating but he showed signs of turning that corner in the second half of our season. Maybe we can keep both anyway.

One of is a proven P4 corner who Ohio State and Matt Patricia wanted. The other is a guy who has done very little through 2 years and is still potential over production.

I know which one I would rather have if forced to choose.

any thoughts on this guy?

I'm unwavering in my calmness. I feel like the portal, over time, has a way of providing what is needed so long as we seek it. Last year, the problem wasn't who we got, it was who we didn't pursue.

This is turning into the worst January 6th ever!!!

A lot of drippy seeping vaginas in here. Y’all forget. We’re Texas and no one has a nil game like ours.

Bobby saying that if Sprague returns to Michigan that Texas has two OL ready to visit at the end of the week.

Dumb. Two should be visiting regardless of what Sprague does. 3 if he returns to Michigan..

I haven't read the books, but I'm assuming this is spot on.

So we needed the specialists and got that. Was the fat body a need? Kind of I guess. Was TE a need? I don’t know man- we have 2 I like and one that blocks, probably not. Also- I’d just as soon we run all 11 anyway as that should be arch’s bread and butter- so if you have 3 and only 1 at a time plays…

Then, of all the positions on the team we are probably good at I’d say CB and edge are at the top. We got a CB and Sark is working his ass off on the edge.

I don’t doubt that we’ve got some marginal improvement on places that we could use it (like that CB we got from Wake that was fine for 2 years) but my goodness it’s irritating seeing what’s happening where we need it to happen. WR 1, 2 RB, 3 OL, 2 Lb and 1 Safety. That’s 9 dudes we need bare minimum and we are sitting on zero.

People do need to chill but I get why they aren’t.

One has nothing to do with the other.

This is the most entertaining thread on Surly in years. At this rate we might get to a 1,000.

Personally, I find this board's constant meltdown friggin hilarious. I come here to take a break from real problems and realize I need to chill out a little myself. I would say to "just breathe" but it is too entertaining to watch the handwringing over whether a kid is going to suit up in burnt orange. Surly on!

Yes, that's this thing people do when negotiating. They call it a "bidding war." We lost because we did not offer enough money, which has been my point all along.

Might not be money alone. Whittingham is a good hire and he brought on his OL coach Jim Harding as well. They may also point to our poor OL performance this season to cast doubt on Flood as an OL coach. If money was the main motive, he won't be the last to use the portal to up his current school's offer to a satisfactory level. Staying put is convenient.

That’s your big comeback today? Hank tell me now, would you rather have their portal class or ours? Just answer the question and stop being a prick.

If Justice Haynes jumps in the portal, that could solve a lot of our needs. Of course, he probably uses us for a bigger bag from Michigan. I still think we should throw a really big bag at Hawkins. Make Okie Lite pay big to keep him from us.

Let me know when the portal classes are done and I can answer that

Yes. They absolutely do. Not getting into it more until a decision is announced by Black either way. I would also happily make the trade if it comes down to it anyway. Just was annoying to learn something today that suggested it is either/or.

Georgia offensive tackle announces plan to enter transfer...

Georgia offensive tackle Bo Hughley is the latest player to enter the transfer portal.

Georgia offensive tackle Bo Hughley is the latest player to enter the transfer portal.

Hughley played in 10 games this past season, playing a key role in Georgia’s early-season win over Tennessee.

He will have two years of eligibility at his next school. Hughley made the announcement on his social media accounts.

Hughley signed with Georgia as a member of the 2023 recruiting class out of Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia.

Georgia is currently waiting on Monroe Freeling and Earnest Greene to announce their future plans. Both starting offensive tackles are draft-eligible for next season. If both were to leave, Hughley would’ve been in line to earn a starting spot for Georgia’s 2026 offensive line.

On Georgia’s offensive line, guard Micah Morris exhausted his collegiate eligibility, as he will move on to the NFL.

The Bulldogs did lose center Drew Bobo to a season-ending foot injury against Georgia Tech, with Malachi Toliver replacing him. Both players will be back for Georgia in 2026.

Georgia got plenty of run out of freshmen Juan Gaston and Dontrell Glover. Gaston could move out to tackle next season thanks to his size.

Georgia signed five offensive linemen in the 2026 recruiting cycle, led by 5-star prospect Ekene Ogboko.

Hughley becomes the second Georgia offensive lineman to enter the transfer portal, joining Nyier Daniels. In total eight, Georgia players from the 2025 roster have entered the transfer portal.

That’s a huge one

I love that we got the Rutgers cb. We started the day with our roster locked down and Baugh and the Michigan linemen in the que.

We end with rumors of having to lock down three or four of our current players still.

With kiffin it’s a good landing spot. Thought they had someone though.

Getting Uluave on campus for a visit is huge positive news as well assuming he makes it here. Would be a perfect fit for what we need opposite Smith at ILB.

I have growing concerns Flood's retardation has rubbed off on Sark and there's no hope from here on out. He's been infected.
