We got hit in Leander by the hail storm. I was out of town. My next door neighbor had a roofing guy from Linear Roofing come out. Said the roof needed replacement and there was damage to the fence, downspouts, gutters, and window glazing.

I went ahead and had him inspect ours too since I wasn’t there to find my own roofing company. He found similar results. We have a 3,300 sq ft 2 story house and rough WAG he thought it would cost $30-35k (just the roof) to replace the roof with Certainteed Landmark shingles.

Does anyone have experience with Linear? Other roofing company recommendations in Austin? Thoughts about the WAG cost? We have a 2% deductible for hail. Ouch.

Second @ROFL BOX. We had a claim similar to yours in May of 2023. Initially the insurance company only gave us something like $25 but rofl found more damage and with his pictures and documentation they ended up paying around $45. 2300 sq fr two story with a detached shed.  Had to paint siding, window trim, new gutters, replace window screens, and obviously roof.

Thanks for the references. If he’s  challenged to work, any others would also help.

Call or text me.

I have an extensive list of Shag² references, even our Benevolent 9verlord. Other noted notables from years past:  @dieucla98, @Brisketexan, @CleverNickname

@Felix, @Paco, @beer, @Doc Holliday, @Austinvines, @TexasEd, @fuggled, @RexWilson, @joe dirt, @scottsins

& YES  I need $ to pay bills & deductibles.  My crew leader will be doing site inspections for me while I run the paperwork end of things

That reminds me - I need to check 8n with @LeanderHorn (if he's still on here - name wouldn't tag).  We re-roofed his 2 story casa around 8 years ago.

Since Mark did my roof I was forced to sue my mortgage company for fraud.  They subsequently went out of business over allegations of securities fraud (go figure) and I eventually won my lawsuit against some subsidiary holding corporation in a credit default swap robo signature debacle and then sold my hone at a nice profit.  The buyers then looked at the amazingly sturdy roof and promptly demolished all his great work and rebuilt some dot com nightmare pussy concrete and glass monstrosity in the $2.5 million range that remained empty for a few years awaiting some new miniature American Bitcoin psycho to buy it and comment that they knew there was the spirit of a much greater roof that still lived on this land.

Personally I blame Mark and his cognitive decline for all of it.  Especially the demise of Austin in general. But the man CAN build a roof.

there was rain in the area last night and everything was still dry when i woke up. maybe it was the roof, maybe it was the that force field blocks rain from my house. i don’t think mark controls the force field but he built the roof so 🤷🏽‍♂️

PS:  San Antonio area to the D/FW region.... have done lots up there as well.

fuggled in Richardson as an example.

HMU... Need some income.  If you have to pay a deductible (Texas state law, 2019) you may as well allow me to provide top tier service for that required expense

Nobody is paying a deductible. Yes Texas changed the law but every roofing company is just like “eh, whatever”. Literally every single one.

And PSA for you guys getting a new roof from the storms - wait. Just wait. It will never be more expensive than it is within 30 days after a storm and all the roofers from a 1000 mile radius are attacking your area. They will all ask what your insurance check was and then say “that’s fine, I’ll do it for that”.

Unless you have massive damage, just wait until the chaos is over and get it done by a local roofer.

What is the cheapest possible way to get a new roof for one that is completely worn out?

Probably burn the whole house down.  They'll give you a new roof on the rebuild.

Watch some YouTube videos, buy the supplies at Home Depot, hire some day laborers while you’re there and then live update the process here.

The law requires proof of deductible opayment before the insurer can pay any recoverable depreciation.

No. Not literally every one.  Because there are honest companies out there who don't like committing insurance fraud.

No. Not literally every one.
I would not have been able to get you the added +$ 20,000⁰⁰ if you had not paid your deductible AND we comped probably $ 4,500⁰⁰ for the shed rebuild (4 walls, Masonite to Fiber Cement, new door + repaint) & soffit repair on the back patio.
Cheap =/= good

YMMV

Not true. What they do now is throw in a bunch of “free” stuff. Fence work, deck work, stain, better attic ventilation, etc.
