Twice, everyone knows that politics have no bearing on what happens in our real lives.

There is non-partisan relevant polical commentary and then whatever is going on here, which is mostly a monkey poop throw.

Maybe we should create a technical thread for people who actually work in the upstream industry vs. people who don’t. Then y’all can have your little TDS circle jerk in here.

Please name the more relevant factor to oil prices over the last 8 weeks than Trump.

Make the Encino deal make sense. What the hell are they seeing in Utica? That play feels like it’s been dead for 10 years +.

Eh at least now we'll get to skip the ground water poisoning phase of fracking and jump straight to poisoning our food and drinking water in the name of oil production

I mean, it'd be great if they could re-use the water in additional frac'ing operations.

Well, it does seem that the earth is a mighty powerful filter and decontaminator, at times.

My favorite part is the immunity from suit that water producers get.  More incentives to do the right thing in the first fucking place.

Go discuss it elsewhere. Take that dipshit with you.

Dude. Sid Miller supports this...the guy who wholly believes in 2000 Mules. I'm an O&G guy who's worked onshore and offshore and this is 100% a terrible idea to even think about.

But more to the thread...who would pay for such expensive water? Farmers and most O&G outfits would rather just pump it fresh. Both have pretty slim margins right now, so it may be a moo point.

Mitsubishi is the latest to be rumored to buying Aethon.

What a weird ride it is for those working there. I worked there briefly and even then they had been on a roller coaster deciding if they were selling, going public, or staying private. The Huddlestones sound like a pain to deal with.

I've heard they are both extremely difficult to work for from people who would know. I'm sure you have your own dealings with them, though.

Japanese conglomerates gonna own a large chunk of East TX gas production.

Tokyo Gas/TGNR bought Rockcliff and a bunch of CVX assets.

Osaka Gas bought Sabine.

Now Mitsubishi going after Aethon.

I know of a bunch of non contiguous production out there. Had some Asians look into it years back.

$77.50 WTI/$4.10 nat gas this morning.

Unrealistic, wishful thinking, but that's pretty close to my ideal price ranges ($80/$4.50) where I wish it was possible to set things on cruise control for a year or two.

The European Commission has proposed legislation to stop the importation of natural gas, oil and oil products from Russia into the European Union by 2027, betting on global liquefied natural gas (LNG) and increased regional infrastructure interconnectivity.

“This will increase our energy independence while also reducing the revenues Putin uses to finance his war”, Energy and Housing Commissioner Dan Jorgensen said in a statement issued online by the Commission.

That would be outstanding, but they would still not really have “energy independence”. They would just be relying on friendlier suppliers which is fine with me!

Russia accounted for 19 percent or 13.4 billion cubic meters (473.22 billion cubic feet) of EU gas imports in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2024, according to the Commission’s latest quarterly gas market report. EU imports of Russian gas increased five percent quarter-on-quarter and eight percent year-over-year.

Bring it on!

I think the biggest issue for Europe would be “regassification” facilities. I think they are building some, but I don’t know how many, where they are, or when they would be ready.

Not doing much in Asian markets. If Iran closes the Straits, or there is further escalation inside Iran, it’ll move higher. I don’t think yesterday’s bombing will move it that much.

how long could iran forces successfully shut down the straight ?

I saw an interview where some expert said that prior to the strike Iran had increased production and has been parking the surplus in tankers offshore near China.  Something to the tune of 40m barrels.

He does. Probably, I don’t really care. He’s just a populist blowhard.  He has laid the groundwork to blame US E&Ps for not drilling when prices inevitably increase in a non-war premium time in the future.

He seems to think production here increases here when prices are low, that’s more the problem with his thinking.  Like no understanding thar jobs are eliminated when prices get low and companies drill less.

It’s pretty remarkable that Rex Tillerson was never able to dumb it down enough for him to understand the broad concepts.
