USC and TCU will throttle us

This is so sad lmao. All of us know USC sucks, but so do we. A loss wouldn’t surprise any of us.

We *should* beat them, which means Texas beats a ranked team ( lolz) but they may not even be bowl eligible this year. Herman’s ego will be riding high after beating a “ranked team”. Gary will bring Herman and his ego back to earth the following week.

USC gave up 308 yards rushing to UNLV, and 159 yards rushing to Stanford.

Herman needs to run Ingram, Watson, Young, and Ehlinger - eat up the clock and give USC as few possessions as possible.

Meaning we line up with an empty backfield and 5 wide.  Cuz Mensa....

Penalties and turnovers are killing us right now, again. With our ball control offensive approach, we have to stop getting behind the chains.  Down and distance is key for our cap gun of an offense, given the lack of big play ability at the QB position. We simply dont have the luxury to absorb false starts, drops and fumbles.  What I see is we have to be damn near perfect to sustain drives, and that's a shame.  All of those things happen to every team, but our margain for error is so small. Why did Brewer not get benched after his two mistakes, not even one play.  Take a program with a high degree of accountability and he would have taken a seat for a drive or two.

USC is terrible against the run.  Beck will know this.  However, he will also know that USC knows their own weakness and  he will anticipate that USC will load the box to cover their weakness, thus leaving the pass less well-defended.  So we will come in committed to the pass and then abandon the run game entirely once we inevitably fall behind.

Our defense will be ok for a bit and then inexplicably suffer a few break downs.  Either that our we'll open the game letting them score on the first three drives before tightening things up.

That's just the way we roll... Poor planning and execution on offense and a few key lapses on defense.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!  The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is never run the ball against a team with notoriously poor rushing defense!

I think this guy exactly characterizes our offense under Herman/Beck so far.

If we win I will be about as excited as I was after beating Tulsa. But if we beat USC and TCU that will make me moderately happy.

If Jessica Alba offered a "hand", would one also expect to only be moderately happy..?

I have lived through some crappy seasons watching college football, sometimes the blue bloods go through growing pains, but you never become apathetic (if possible)...

We can beat USC. We can't beat TCU, but might keep it closer than you might expect. OU is going to be ugly.

This is accurate. USC is just not a very good team. TCU on the other hand is. Their offense is not as good as it has been the last couple of years, so there's a decent chance it is not the absolute skullfucking that everyone around here assumes it will be.  Hell, there will probably be some people calling it a moral victory to hang close to TCU.

Still won't mean jack, of course, because even if this team manages to play its "A" game this week and next, they'll still fuck up not just against OU, but likely a half dozen other upcoming opponents as well.
