I’m happy seeing west orange stark back to being their normal selves. Wall and Newton should be really good. Is there a place to watch the SLC/Desoto game from this week

There are several video’s on youtube but the camera angles are not good.  Mostly ground level. This one is most of the game.

Desoto/SLC

This is a game changer. I always heard about this app, thought it was just another Bally Sports you had to pay a monthly fee for. Nope. Completely free and awesome. Will have all the State games for free. No idea why I didn't download this sooner.

Yep, you can watch games live and they still have full replays available if you missed it. There are some unskippable commercials, but who cares, its free, 10/10.

Does CE King stand any chance against DeSoto? Never heard of this school. I see they are in the same district as North Shore, so both 6A State games are between 2 districts.

Can't remember who DeSoto played 2 years ago in state but it was over after the 1st qtr. Not sure if this game will go the same way.

I'd say so.  It should be a very high scoring game.  King has an excellent RB and QB.  Tons of speed and athletes.  Both teams will give up a lot of points.  I'd bet on Desoto to win, but King is battle tested having played North Shore, Summer Creek, Cita, Vandegrift, etc.

That's right. It was Summer Creek that DeSoto faced a few years ago.

King's head coach spent 10 years at North Shore as their offensive line / strength and conditioning coach.  He was promoted to head coach at CE King back in January.

As mentioned upthread, these dudes are fast, fast, fast.  The DCTF guys say this will be one of those rare instances where Desoto won't be the fastest team on the field.  Both teams can give up some points but I don't think either will run away from the other.

Summer Creek is also in that same district (23-6A) with North Shore and CE King. That district and 11-6A (the DeSoto-Duncanville district) are the two best districts in the state by a wide wide margin.

Atascocita is in 23-6A as well.  They stacked.

way.

It’s an old school but just recently became relevant in the past few years in football. It’s huge, 3600+ kids. NE side Houston so it’s pretty hood but they have excellent facilities apparently.

What a great weekend in dfw with Celina, SLC, Gunter, and aledo checking out.

Add Brock and Allen to that dfw group, and that's a combined 40 state titles.  Gone in the semis.

@scramblyn what exactly happened to LT? I thought for sure they had the advantage in the trenches over NS. My NS doubts aside I was surprised to see the final score be what it was.

I posted above, word in the stands was half the team was sick with the flu. Now half the team? Doubt that but several key players looked really lethargic and the QB and lead RB were among them that played their worst game of the year.  McBride couldn’t even complete a pass. Van Hopping was walking every where with zero emotion showing, and that kid is a Skatabo clone.

OL looked worse for the wear and couldn’t even start their blocks, DL looked ok but it was fits and starts with a good play then gashed.

so something was up.

at this level all teams are deserving, so there’s no guarantee LT would win if healthy.

Word on the street is a large portion of LT came down with the flu.  Explains their 6 measly points.

Sucks because while there was no guarantee LT could win that game let alone the whole thing they at least had the recipe for it - dominant DL and a solid run game.

Like half of the District of Doom (11-6A) are below the cutoff line now. DeSoto has been below the cutoff line for a while but has chosen to opt up to continue to play its local rivals. But now several of those rivals, like Cedar Hill and Lancaster, are below the 6A line too. They might all choose to drop to 5AD1 together.

I count 22 schools over the 6A limit in the Austin area, although maybe I missed one or two.  I played around with ChatGPT to create three groups of schools for three Centex 6A districts, with minimum distance between the schools in each group

District 1 — North / I-35 Corridor

Round Rock
Cedar Ridge
Stony Point
Hutto
Georgetown East View
McNeil
Westwood

District 2 — Northwest / West Austin / Leander ISD

Cedar Park
Leander
Vista Ridge
Rouse
Vandegrift
Lake Travis
Westlake

District 3 — South & Southeast

Austin High
Bowie
Akins
Del Valle
Buda Johnson
Buda Hays
San Marcos
Dripping Springs

Jarrell is the one that blew me away.  No fudging there.
they moved up to 4ADI for 2026-27 and they are already 42nd out of 103 schools.  Watch em do 2 years before jumping to 5ADII.

In 2003 Liberty Hill K-12 was on one campus. They just opened their 2nd high school (Legacy Ranch) this year and now have two 5A high schools.

What sucks is Austin High turned in a lower number that would have had them in 5A but the superintendent upped number to put them over. Guess he is slamming some more transfers in to school already over capacity.
Great to be one of the smallest schools in district.

That is weird because the administration's proposal to redistrict schools had Austin High's capacity lowered, which was the reason given for proposing a move of some neighborhoods to Crockett.  The admin wanted the capacity of Austin High to be 2069, with a projected enrollment around 1900.

That is what is making this even more painful. AHS will actually shrink into 5A numbers and be even more out of competitive scope for district. There is a rumor that Westlake and LT are moving out and into a district with Vandegrift and other schools up north. Not sure how true that is so that helps some in terms of the annual smooth ass kicking that they give AHS
