Scrambling? I've remained steadfast in my stance. Someone asked why would the coach lie. I pointed out the coach's policy on entering the portal. It's understood that you cannot receive official offers until you are in the portal, but there is our coach saying call us back if you don't get the offer you think you are worth.

The point is he is doing that to protect the program reputation. Now we all understand that is what you are supposed to do. We expect that. But make no mistake it is still a lie. Just like the coach doesn't come out and say he pushed out 12(random number) players because they weren't good enough. To protect the program.

Now I know a lot of people played sports here and a lot didn't, but coaches nowadays use playing time to force kids to drop out of their program. It's the PC era. They even do it at the high school level.

My daughter is a high school senior. She committed to play college vball the July before her junior year. That December her college coach got fired. The coaching search took a few months, but then the new coach called immediately after being hired and said she was reevaluating her needs. The previous coach had misevaluated and had a bunch of dead weight on the roster. We knew she was going to have to push someone out to make room for us because the previous coach was honest about her mistake and cryptically said the same. This season goes by and two of her scholarshipped outside hitters immediately go in the portal. She didn't tell them they no longer have a scholarship. She told them she didn't see much of a role going forward. Kids wanna play so of course they are gonna go elsewhere. I am sure no one that hopped in the portal for us was told their NIL was being taken away. I am sure every player still woulda got their money to stand on the sideline. However, if you tell a kid who had dreams of making it to the next level your role will be significantly reduced, they are going to leave 90% of the time. Money on the table or not.

That is all I am saying.

For me, this wasn't even about Parker as much as it was the amount of kids being pushed out or choosing to leave in general. We seem to be losing more than we are getting back and all it takes is an injury or two and you are ass out.

Dont carry water for Livingstone. He was welcome to go to any other school in the country except A&M and OU, and what is the first thing he does, he is up at OU. Fuck him. Bleeds burnt orange my ass.

Brother, again it's not really about Parker, you get that right? It's about what we are doing to drive away players. As an employer I've had stretches where people were leaving our organization and I had to figure out why? To me Sark's short rotations and misses on talent eval are reasons why.

I get it, pre NIL and portal, when a player left he was never to be seen or heard from again and everyone was like "great call". But things are looking a little different. Our number 2 and 3 receivers jumped in the portal. That's never happened before. Our top 3 running backs. A lineman that we were grooming to replace a senior. Now we are in a position where the same dudes that fucked up the first evals, like the O-line, are in a position where they absolutely have to hit on their evals in the portal or we are in deep trouble. It just doesn't seem like we are making good moves.

How can our moves be evaluated as good or bad when they haven’t happened yet?

I'm not in here trying to carry water for Parker fucking Livingstone, but we shall know them by their fruits. Do they gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Flood and Banks are some thistle-gatherin' motherfuckers as far as I'm concerned so consider my irrelevant-ass skeptical and disgruntled.

Huh? Our kicker, punter, and TE transfer were all really good contributors this year. He just can’t coach other aspects of ST very well.

They cannot. But it’s curious we whiffed so hard on so many on Sark’s side of the ball. And his staff is STILL here (his bros) who should have a lot to answer for and yet it was PK that took the brunt of our offensive woes and whiffs. Go figure.

Sark seems dialed in now. Last season he was like fucking phoning it in.

Uh... none of the players we have lost are critical or even important pieces. Like, I get you technically can call them 2 of our top receivers and 2 of our top running backs, but the backs added basically nothing to the offense. Statistically, they were bottom 120 running backs. The receivers were ok, but ok doesn't cut it, and we have some young talent that needs to get on the field. Again, I ask you, for the 1,000th time, if Lockett takes over Parker's playing time, do you still see this the same way?

This is called playing the best players. You want to hand out orange slices to shitty players, go to Rice.

Saban was the king of Grey shirts and this is how he kept his roster stuffed with badasses. I don't see this as anything different.

I don't care where Livingstone plays next year or any of the portals for that matter. His catch against Florida where he was hobbled will be my best memory of him. He should at least find a team with a decent QB. Not sure Mateer or Reed qualifies.

There sure are a bunch of fans on here who want Sark to be the worst more than they want Texas to be the best. Can't be crying about wasted seasons and then get your panties twisted when he cuts players who are not the standard.

Kirby is an intolerable fuck, but he was right about check cashers. Put up or move on.

Gotta say, if it weren't for Livingstone's love of country music, nobody would care that he's leaving.

Think about it like this, is he better than any transfer WR Texas has had come in?

No.

Everyone wanted Livingstone to be Jordy Nelson... And he wanted to be paid like he was Jordy Nelson.

It will be interesting to see how things evolve in figuring out how to value those intangibles. Guys like Livingstone and Wisner were legit good culture guys - they did their work, they played hurt, they were good teammates. That's not a given up and down the roster. It would be a mistake to overpay for those qualities or feel like you can't lose those kinds of guys, but it isn't wrong (at least in my view) to value it. I think in previous years Texas has probably overvalued it, so I welcome this development, but I also think this is an experimental time of dialing things in during a whirlwind. None of this is easy.

Yeah I agree with everything you said, but it sucks to lose culture guys. Someone posted yesterday that culture is a thing that coaches say but isn’t real anymore in this environment. I can’t agree with that. We just watched JWhitt and Worthy make massive hustle turning balls back over two years ago that I would attribute more to culture than payment. If Parker is already talking to OU and TAMU then he was probably never a culture fit.

10 hours ago, someguy said:

This is exactly right, and it is good for the program to not get bullied or intimidated by this kind of bullshit and it is good for the players in the program to see what happens when guys try to pull this kind of bullshit. Too many guys have a distorted view of their own worth. They should be free to pursue whatever avenues they like, but that doesn't make Texas the bad guy, and Texas is under no obligation to overpay because of feelings. This is a good development for the future of the program.

For years, Texas fans lusted after Saban's ruthless approach to churning the roster. Belichick's Patriots routinely let middling players walk who overvalued themselves while Jerry Jones gives average players top-of-the-league contracts. Livingstone, Moore, and Wisner all asked for more than they were worth. Passing on those asks not only allows Texas to allocate the funds for more impact; it also establishes a precedent for other Dak Prescott's who walk into Sark's office asking for more money than Patrick Mahomes.

Anyone who would do what Livingstone just did was never a culture guy. He was a rat waiting for his opportunity.

Fuck Parker Livingstone. Unlike Blake Brockermeyer, he has no positive Longhorn legacy to lean on. His only significance is the jokes with ctj. He did nothing of note but expose himself as being completely devoid of character. He’s dead to us.

So according to Livingstone it’s fair to say she pushed you out of the marriage. The victimology with kids today is out of control. I get it, he was probably pissed all season that Wingo was getting more targets and thought he was more productive. He lived the once in a lifetime experience of being Arch’s roommate and further thought that made him something special. He had an “agent” telling him that he was irreplaceable and to expect UT to bend over and gush over him to come back. Truth be told I’ve seen so many contract negotiations go horrifying bad in the NFL for years and those players are older and more mature than a 19 year old. He miscalculated his worth. No big deal. What is troublesome is him playing the poor me victim and trying to insinuate that he was forced out. Bitch move. Also, I heard his “dream scholl” was and probably still is OU. Good luck with that. He will be running all over the field while hoping Pepe Le pew somehow learns how to accurately throw a downfield pass. I don’t hate the kid but damn he is a complete idiot. He will look back one day and say damn I really didn’t understand what a great situation i had and blew it. I don’t know if Arch will ever succeed in the NFL but if I had to guess he will probably win at least one Super Bowl and probably multiple. Parker just went from Arch inner circle to Indian Reservation security guard.

Wut

I just think it’s funny that grown men want to burn high school age kids in the recruiting thread at the stake for not choosing Texas and now want to burn a young Parker at the stake for making a mistake in not staying here and wanting more money than they think he’s worth. I chalk it up to immaturity and a mistake and he may have overreacted. He wasn’t one of the players Quentin Jammer (a favorite of mine) called out on X sitting on their asses at Texas collecting a paycheck.whoever Jammer was referring to I hope those players are GONE too. parker was part of the culture in a good way. He played hurt. He gave his best efforts and I assume felt that it would be rewarded.

FWIW I hope that those gents @someguy (who knows his shit) is referring to that were not like that—I hope we didn’t KEEP them. I hope they are also gone. But it’s crazy to me that many blame kids for making mistakes but not grown ass adult coaches who have had chance after chance and still fuck up. That don’t make no sense to me. Lots of people I guess wish they could have played for Texas and creepily stalk recruits and blame players bc of they feel they could have done better. Also I am tired of the argument that those of us unhappy with how Sark ran the season want him to fail just because we hate him that much. Bullshit. We want him to succeed bc we graduated from Texas and we want to win another MNC in our damned lifetimes. But he 💯 phoned in last year and he deserves as an over 50 year old man who makes millions and has been a HC for over a decade as much or more criticism as a kid who fucks up who hasn’t lived long enough in the world to realize it. Sark has and he should not get a pass for last year just because he’s on a mission this year. Jmo, carry on burning kids at the stake,

Maybe we will get rid of Sark’s old ass buddies on the coaching staff and some of the players on the team that Jammer called out for sitting on their asses. Or at least I hope they are all gone.

No one's really doing that, though. Most of the umbrage here is over the fact he cried himself a river, cast shade at Texas on the way out, made a media spectacle, and then scheduled a visit to Oklahoma out of spite. He conducted himself like a jackass and may well end up a sooner. He doesn't deserve any commiseration.

If you are a target of Arch who is HIM and who absolutely will have teams clamoring for him (WR, RB who can catch, or TE) then as a target you are going to get the most looks from any NFL scout regular and post season (bc we will make it and better make it) than on almost ANY other team. Mestamaker (with Norris now at Okie Lite) and his targets will absolutely have eyes on them too—not because it’s Okie Lite but because of his potential. That’s free fucking looks all season and scouts will know who these targets are in advance of the pro days and combine. I don’t understand leaving even if it means swallowing pride. Swallowing however much money if your desire is to make the NFL.

Raiders just fired Pistol Pete. Black Monday! Wonder if any of these teams will grab a college HC?

I understand your POV, but let's be clear on a few things.

1) College students aren't "kids" unless they're a prodigy under the age of 17 or some other anomaly. These are adults, many of whom vote and can, or soon will be able to, buy drinks. When I was Livingstone's age, I was raising a kid and paying my way through McCombs simultaneously. "kids" are in HS and on down.

2) A CFB player at Texas has one of the best lives possible and is given every opportunity to turn that into a bright and wealthy future for themselves. They want for nothing, their ability to graduate is a well greased path, they get as much pussy as they could ever want, and they get to make every connection they could possibly desire.

3) Many of them, Livingstone included, are making more money than anyone their age outside of their sport are making anywhere, quite literally, in the world. They're making more than many people at any age will ever make in a year.

In short, extending sympathy to these guys is well and good, but when they prove themselves to be entitled fuckheads with not only zero loyalty (fine), but a craven need to go out and then shit all over the program and people (many of these people are donors who ask for nothing in return except the implied "do good for us" on zero ROI NIL front) who extended them those opportunities, they deserve whatever vitriol comes their way short of personal threats and hate speech. They're professionals and it comes with the territory, Welcome to the world, "kids".

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I appreciate all you do for Texas football 🏈

I wish I had had my Parker Livingstone jersey signed like you though. I do believe in time he may fully regret leaving here. And I also 💯 hope that we cleaned some of the players Jammer was openly bitching about out of here as well.

My jersey was a gift from someone I love so I will always treasure it. 13 is my number and when it was purchased PL was flashing tremendous promise and potential. Damn.

Now we need some dudes on o-line. Indiana has expectedly brought in quite a haul from the portal so far. Mendoza is like a fucking recruiting video as much as their on the field success has been this year.
