Durant feels like such a perfect fit in Houston.

It's just nice to see him on a functional basketball team for the first time in awhile, too.

It's great to see him playing with some joy. He has seemed pretty mechanical the last few years. I will admit that I was wrong about his fit on this team.

It's also nice on the team side to have a closer you can go to at the end of games like last night.  So many times last year, it was just complete chaos at the ends of games.

Surely there is somehwere that tracks "clos & late" stats?  I imagine KD is near the top

I know this is a well beaten dead horse, but the stark difference in performance this year appears yet more proof that Jalen Green’s inefficiency was a big problem.

I guess that loss to Detroit wasn’t a fluke. Shocked they are at the top of the East.

We lost that game because of shitty FT shooting.

It feels like Spurs fan is riding the Yao injury roller coaster. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, but if it was going to happen to one fanbase…

Meanwhile the Mavs are riding the Greg Oden roller coaster with AD, and I would happily wish that on them any day of the week.

Wemby is great and I hope he stays healthy and has a long career.

But I have a theory that once you get to a certain height, around 7"2 or 7"3 + , that gravity wins out.

All of this. Hate the team. Don’t hate the player unless it’s Draymond.

I believe Wemby is 7’5’’ without shoes. He’s asking his body to move like peak Chris Paul. It’s going to keep happening.

The closest comp I can up with is Arvydas Sabonis. I hope Wemby has a happier story.

In a Rockets thread, the comp has to be Ralph Sampson. Wemby’s a terrific player, but guys over 7’2” tend to have a short shelf life. Think Ralph hung it up in his early 30s, which unfortunately is where I think this is headed.

Ralph was certainly a great player and his career ended too soon, but he never had the handles or 3 point shot that Wemby has.

Sampson was never the same after the knee injury against the Celtics in the 86 finals.

Probably true about the dribbling, but disagree about the shot. Ralph started college the year the 3 point line debuted in the NBA. Coaches didn’t let everyone shoot threes back then, or let bigs handle the ball honestly. Athletically, he was the exact same sort of freak as Wemby, which is where the comparison is being made to his body holding up. Sabonis was a great player, but he was a bit shorter and bit heavier when comparing body types. He was absolutely an athletic monster before the knee injuries though.

Sabonis had a great career, just not in the NBA - He came to the NBA already worn down.

Yes I’m aware Sabonis blew out his knee in the late 1980s and was never the same. I could have worded that better.

Kind of wild that Junior never developed the 3 ball as part of his game.

He's a career .344 BTA and the last 3 seasons before this one .373, .379, .417, now you do have a point with his less than 2.0 attempts per game.
