Technically neither has sark as a HC.

I would put up a conference championship and two semi-final appearances against anything Elko has done.  But maybe that’s just me.

Weirdness aside, and this is a real question sans sarcasm, is PSU actually a better place for an up and comong HC who wants to make his mark?

I look at how long someone has been a HC and what they have accomplished where they have been. To me it’s an MNC as being the most important as a HC but I see your point. Elko is in his second year as HC at Aggy and Sark in his 5th at Texas. Sarks fifth year looks like shit so far. That’s all I got.

Sark definitely has more participation trophies. Winning the Big XII is his only actual accomplishment, in his entire coaching career, unless we're going to start putting play off appearances on the wall.

I’m still super curious how Neto went from a starter at LG all Spring & Fall, to not seeing any snaps. Surly there is more to that story.

I don't know the answer to your question. I just want to know why we can't pick up a blitz.

I don’t disagree. It’s year two for Elko though. They don’t seem to have many weaknesses in their remaining schedule nor game except turnovers. That’s something if our defense isn’t on the field 2/3 of the game we can use to our advantage.

I have nothing against UT--I root for them every time they play football on a Saturday--but, if they're going to lose anyway, I selfishly hope for complete schadenfreude for entertaining purposes only. This is some premium, top notch, pure grade stuff.

I couldnt keep scrolling through the thread. This was too fucking awesome.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen an aggy coach make a jump in year 2. Maybe Elko is the real deal or maybe not.

I dont know the story here, but I just assume for all intents and purposes hes kicked off the team, but his brother is not and the parents are on board with the situation.

Could be totally wrong.

Brothers.  We have 3 of them on the team.  One is a DB.

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if he took the Penn State job. I would certainly be looking to get out, but Penn State would be near last of my list.

But that's based on personal and moral reasons. Neither Baylor, nor Penn State should be allowed to have football teams.

Setting that aside, it's a great job. Western PA and Penn State support is very cult-like and most of the same advantages aggy has, with some of the same disadvantages.

He's never going to be able to eat at a restaurant without being recognized either place, but talking to strangers is a bit different in the Northeast. Penn State fans are more likely to leave him alone, or accept quick pleasantries.

Smaller recruiting pool locally, but no other in-state school, or really NE school period. Available talent would probably be an upgrade, especially since he takes his current recruiting contacts with him.

Ample money for NIL and 2 big cities in the state. Both NFL, but no other college football option vs them being best case #2 in TX, even if running at their peak.

Maybe I’m fortunate to only know level-headed Aggies, but every Aggie I known has battered Aggie syndrome. I don’t expect them to say anything between now and T+1.

the Monday after could be a different story though… but this could be ‘98 type game where they’ve already clinched a spot in the sec championship (and thus cfp) (@Mizzou without their QB and scar at home) and they don’t have anything to play for in Austin other than the obvious burning desire to blah blah blah

Oh bullshit. They'll start talking. They won't be able to help it.

Did you see that fucking ceremony they had postgame with the fans? They're already getting too high on the stupid aggy bullshit.

Don't get me wrong - that's a damn good football team. I don't think they're win the NC good but they should make the CFP.

I get that we all are side eyeing Sark right now, and that we have been playing sub par football overall. But the team didn't quit tonight. And that is always the worst sign, when a team quits on a coach. It got James Franklin fired. They didn't quit on him. So we play on.

Fair, I don't have a clue but I think aggir fans would likely provide the same respect of privacy and personal space. Kinda seems like their gig.

I would also say the shadow left by Joe Pa (the good one PSU fans appear to still carry) seems like a much darker one to overcome than RC or Jackie.

With that being said, I previously noted that not having a coach lined up prior to firing one was bad business these days in football. This leads me to believe PSU and Florida may already both have theirs. With Elkos ties to the area it does make sense he'd head there and prestige wise in the broadest terms PSU certainly has more.

Finally, we agree, PSU and Baylor shouldn't have football programs, I'd say Michigan State shouldn't either but it wasn't their football coaches that were the villains.

I can agree with this, accept to say subpar is pretty kind regarding our on field performance. On a similar note it did appear the LSU team quit on Kelly tonight to me. The announcers even noted it while it was swimming around in my brain.

Thank you for also notating the best part of today. The fight. The no quit. I appreciate that in you. We did not quit and most of us who have watched more than a decade of football can appreciate the fight in the players. For what it’s worth I have never blamed the players. I always blame the coaches. And while that might not always be fair it is almost always true that it is on the coaches. Imo.

@BlackCatsaid it best. Sark has had now 3 stops as a HC. If his superpower is being an OC but he sucks as being a HC and delegating where does that leave us if he won’t give up doing both OC and HC duties? On top of which he didn’t “patently deny” the Athletic article. Ughhhh.

This was one of my favorite wins in a long time. I think since bama on the road.

I think I liked it so much because when it was about 38-21, all I could think about was how bad its going to get for the program, the players, but especially Sark and his family.

Sark is an impressive guy inside the world of football. People seek him out. The Manning family has enough contacts to vet a person out. I would bet Sark has more than support from the Mannings. Football people believe in the guy.

Im not an official football person, and Id like to just call it no harm no foul with Sark and go our separate ways. I really would like to see him escape this situation without all this dirty laundry getting aired. Id love to see him take his money and have success staying sober. I think the model is broken for him here and I would like to see him attempt success somewhere else.

I'm not side-eyeing him. I'll wait until he throws the season fully in the bin before doing that. Even then - rebuild years happen.

Also - I like him. And they keep winning games. I don't take Texas winning games for granted. A lot of posters here have been doing that this season like they all didn't sit through 2010-2022 just a few years ago.

The idea that at this point in the season you'd trade him for Kiffin or Elko is fucking insane. Texas has through the ceiling potential but it is NOT an easy job. It's one of the hardest, most demanding jobs in the country.

We found a guy that's done it really fucking well so far and keeps beating OU's ass and we're going to trade him for Joey Freshwater because the team is 6-2?

I'd just like to watch this thing burn a little bit hotter and for a little longer before I think we need to conduct a fucking coaching search. And the NFL stuff today was complete nonsense when it comes to this team this season. Whether it's true or not. He is still invested and they are still playing their balls off for him.

Let's play the rest of the games.

I say this with a modicum of respect, you don't have to post every single thought in your head. Take a breath and maybe compose fewer more rational responses.

You can tell when a team is done with a coach. Kelly is fucked. Sark still has the support of his guys. And I hate what he's done this year and think he should be on notice.

So there’s only maybe 4-5 people in the US who can claim to have hundreds of billions.  Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Ellison… that’s all I got.

Doesn’t Bezos have a giant ranch in west Texas?  How would he feel if he knew you were spurning Amazon for Temu?  You should invite him to town lake and convince him to drop $250M into our NIL coffer, only like 0.1% of his net worth that he will never miss.

This is a good post and I appreciate your sentiment.

I was speaking about all aspects with a close friend prior to the game. We shared the same sentiment regarding Sark. We dislike him as our HC, but feel for him as a human.

I firmly believe he's not a good fit as the head coach at Texas. I believe he should be gone. However, I do honestly think he's a good human and really hope there is some way ties can be broken amicably. Not sure if or when that's possible, but I do think his departure inevitable at this point. The longer it goes on tbe worse it will be for both parties and the more professionally and kindly it happens the better for both.

Lots of thoughts, but the one that sticks out the most, is when I saw this story break elsewhere the main comments were that Dianna Russinni wasn’t a credible source. The confusion about who she was writing for and her article being about the nfl owners meeting not really being brought up was interesting. We just ran with it.

That little spark led to a ton of rumor speculation which is the best part of being on a sports message board. “Insiders” spilling things they’ve heard second hand. Some more credible than others, some just reveling in the attention, but all not actually able to go on record and validate anything.

The memes, gifs, comments though are the best of the best. Like a mspaint thread of dominance but quick wits and reactions lead the way. I always try and do my  part to contribute.

In summary this was a great wall to wall Texas Football day, even if things may turn out to be shitty going forward if any of this is true or we can’t pull victoriesfrom the ass of defeat a third fourth fifth time.
