What if we lose by 3 after outplaying them and complete and utter ref fuckery and best arky by 28 and aggy by 14?
Losses are binary in that they have to be either 0 or 1 (as are wins of course) but they don’t tell the entire story, obviously.
if we see the defense from the first 7 weeks of the season paired with the offense from the last 2 weeks can beat anyone in the country with average luck.
this team likely isn’t good enough to win anything of importance but it is a top 10 team in the country (I think) so I’d like to see us get into the playoffs and see what happens.

my top 10 (in no particular order) is:

Ohio state, Indiana, Domers, Bama, Georgia, Texas, Aggy, tech,

pick 2: Ole Miss, OU, Oregon, BYU, Iowa, USC, Utah, Vandy, Miami, Louisville.

gun to my head I’d probably say Miss and OU from that group to round out what I think are the best 10 teams in the country this year. I’m not sure which OU that is. These aren’t rankings just what I think quality of teams are after watching everyone play at least two full games and seeing lots of bits and pieces of games with my 4 TV at all times set up.

Ok, that was just about a perfect week for us. The ACC was absolutely eliminated with VA and Louisville both taking their second loss of the season. It’s a 1 bid league unless you are so stupid that you think a 10-3 ACC loser is getting in over a 9-3 Texas (in theory).

we need the big 10 to be a 3 bid league. That means that we want teams 4 on down to have at least 3 losses. Iowa picked up the magical 3rd loss and so did Washington.  The only Big 10 teams that can now finish at 10-2 are Michigan and USC.
USC should lose at least one with home games with Iowa and UCLA and a road game at Oregon.
Michigan will be heavily favored to lose to Ohio State. Root hard for Oregon and Ohio State to win out- that would make the big 10 a 3 bid league.

I’ve got the Domers in. Would a loss to Navy have been hilarious and helpful?  Sure. It wasn’t going to happen. Look- if they want to lose to Pitt or something and end up 9-3 and miss the playoffs I’m all for it, but I’m not counting on that being a scenario to get Texas in at 9-3, that’s just a bonus.
Every team we needed to win to bolster our resume won. Aggy will almost assuredly be ranked in the top 2 or 3 when we play them.  Georgia will be ranked 5. Ohio State #1. OU and Vandy somewhere between 10 and 15. That’s not a team that gets left out.

That leaves the big 12. We wanted Tech to drill BYU. That happened. I think Tech is the best team in that conference, but the way to absolutely make sure 9-3 Texas were to go over another Big 1/ teams is to have tech win out and BYU lose to Cincinnati or someone else. A second regular season loss for either tech or BYU I think guarantees the Big 12 is a 1 bid league- so go ahead and root for tech to lose to UCF or West Virginia (or just win out big) Or BYU to lose to TCU, a Cincinnati or UCF. Again- I’m about 80% sure a 9-3 Texas goes over an 11-2 BYU, but one more loss for them wouldn’t hurt my feelings.

that’s it Boys/ it’s looking pretty much like this: SEC 5, Big 10 3, Domers, big 12, ACC, group of 5.

lots of you idiots have said we need chaos or carnage. Nope. Not anymore. We need order honestly with Ohio state and Oregon taking care of business and making the big 10 a 3 team league. That’s pretty much it.
If you want to be really really super duper concerned and scared that Texas gets in at 9-3 for sure and for certain root for that in the Big 10 plus (one of) Domers loss, Ole Miss loss, BYU or Tech loss, Georgia Tech loss.
I don’t think any of that stuff in the last is necessary, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt.
I suppose there is a world where OU won out and finished 10-2 above us if we were to go 9-3 and the SEC 5 teams finished: Aggy, Ole Miss, Bama, Georgia all with 1 loss and then Texas, OU, Vandy with 2 losses. We’d go ahead of Vandy at 10-2 for them, but behind 10-2 OU. So, root for a sooner loss for sure. Which you always should do.

So, there you have it we are at the point in time where 9-3 Texas is almost a shorting chaos happens. Ohio state over Michigan, USC losing to Oregon or Iowa, OU losing to Bama (or lsu or Missou). Tech winning the Big 12 comfortably big over BYU or BYu picking up another loss somewhere else

now- go win me $1000 by going 10-2 or prove me right by getting in at 9-3. Just don’t go 8-4 and watch aggy celebrate 12-0 on DKR.

I want Michigan to beat Ohio State. I don't think if changes much for a 9-3 Texas if that happens.

I don’t know man- it’s certainly not in any way good for us. That would put Michigan in the big 10 title game and I just don’t see any way a big 10 title game participant gets left out in this day and age. Especially now that they don’t have divisions where you could get a fluke and a shit team gets through. You’d be asking them to leave a 10-3 big 10 runner up out in favor of 9-3 Texas- or if Michigan won they’d be an auto bid and Indiana would sure be in. We want Michigan to lose in a game theory 9-3 Texas gets in sense. Now- if Texas is 10-2? I’m rooting hard for Michigan.

A 10-2 Michigan who just beat ohio state would absolutely change things for a 9-3 texas.

If you want Michigan to beat OsU and Texas to still make it to the playoffs at 9-3 you need Oregon to lose two games and USC to lose 1. Root big time for Iowa to beat SC eliminating them, and then root for Oregon to lose 2. But it would definitely be simpler for Michigan to go 9-3.

And for a 10-2 Texas

Just need BYU to lose one more.

And that one more/ I think- could even be in the conference championship game, but it’d be better if it was regular season. They will have some chances. They aren’t very good. I could see them finishing 9-3.

Are you of the opinion there’s anyway a 10-2 Texas isn’t in?  Or we just talking seeding here?

Seeding.  I can’t think of a way 10-2 Texas isn't in as we'd jump Georgia.

11-2 GT is ahead of 9-3 Texas with a win over Georgia and a CCG loss

I can’t fathom Ga Tech beating Georgia, but probably. Again, everyone says maybe Texas can make it in if there’s total carnage. That’s not what we want. We want order. OSU over Michigan. Georgia over Georgia tech. Alabama over Oklahoma. ISC dropping one of their remaining 3 (all tough) games. Just regular normal shit and Texas is good. I’ve got the odds of a 9-3 Texas in now up to about 80 or 85% in my mind.

I don't think it's that far fetched at all

Sure. In the same way Ole Miss losing to Florida or Mississippi State isn’t far fetched. Or diners losing at Pitt isn’t far fetched. If GA tech beat Georgia we’d need one of those other things to happen which would move Texas past Domers or the 4th team in the SEC. I think 10-2 Ole Miss should be behind 9-3 Texas.

Worst single game for us would be Michigan beating Ohio State.  If Michigan wins that game, they are going to the playoffs 100%, as that will guarantee they make the Big10 title game.  The runner up in the SEC or Big 10 isn't getting left out. Period.

Michigan is flying under the radar.  Their only losses are at USC and at OU.  Not terrible.  They just don't have any good wins. But that would change if they take down OSU.

There is no reality a 10-2 texas with wins over Georgia, ou , a&m , and vandy doesn't make it in.

That's a set of wins no one in the country has anything comparable on.

We'd probably be ranked 6th

Either way getting there is the challenge.  Take care of the wins and we're in.

I'm still of the mind 9-3 is a roll of the dice and depends on what happens elsewhere

You don't need to worry about that, we are not going 10-2

If we beat Georgia next week I fully think we will be 10-2.  We’re not losing to that aggy team at home, there’s a reason the line is -10 for us.  All Arch has to do is be average and we’re going to be 10-2, now if he goes back to can’t hit a wide open 7 yard slant Arch..  We’re 8-4.

UGA will be a problem. Pass defense has turned to hot garbage unfortunately. Gunnar Stockton going to throw for 400 yards.

Pretty sure the two starting safeties that missed last game will be back, that kinda makes a big difference in pass defense vs last games “hot garbage”.

In this scenario after yesterday.  I don’t recall Texas losing by more than a TD or 2 lately. But what if GA spanks the shit out of us. 3 td type embarrassment then we win out.  Does this still give pollsters any hesitation?

Cutter fucking Boley threw for 258 yards against us.

Yes. That would be the way 9-3 Texas probably gets left out.

I don't see that.  I think whatever bonus points we would have got for making the score look closer than the game was against Ohio State we threw away by losing to bad Florida and going to OT against worse Kentucky and Miss St.

We’d be tied in conference. They played utter and complete shit in non conference, if they lost that would be a loss to Florida (probably) and Georgia, but we have better wins by far than them. I’m not saying it’s a guarantee or anything- but that should be how it all sorts out. Again, if it isn’t then the committee is full of shit when it says it wants marquee OOC games bc a 10-2 Texas which is what we’d be if we scheduled Wazzu instead of Ohio State white all over a 10-2 Ole Miss. I’m not guaranteeing it would go that way but go pencil in a loss to Florida (at home) or MSST (road) and tell me what possible justification you could have for having Ole Miss over us.

All of them?  If Arch plays half decent we should beat that team.  You’re buying they are actually really good media bs

We will see.  I really think we matchup good vs them Reed has a couple turnovers, but that’s just my opinion and Vegas’s.  Their receivers worry me a bit.

I can see us MAYBE being favored but more than a TD is crazy
