Bama either has 2 losses or OU has 3 losses.  OU can't be 10-2 and Bama be 11-1

Sure. But they’d both go over a 9-3 Texas team even if the SEC got 5 teams in.

a close loss to Georgia and beating ark, aggy means all our losses are close on the road.  there will be a push to get a 2nd big 12 team or 4th big 10 in vs. 5 SEC.

given the above finish for us, I agree Mich and USC need to lose, BYU loss(don't like 1 loss v 3 loss with the one loss being top5 or 6 team on the road), OU loss.

ND losing to Pitt would be a bonus.  I don't see how ACC gets more than 1 no matter what but I haven't looked at it that closely.

We only got 3 in last year- right?  Fairs fair for the big 10 only getting 3 this year if everyone other than those 3 all have 3 losses and no big scalps non conference. There’s no “push” that’s getting one of the big 10 teams with 3 losses in over a 9-3 texas. BYU losing one more and tech winning the big 12 would absolutely make the SEC a 5 bid league in the 9-3 Texas scenario.

And that one more/ I think- could even be in the conference championship game, but it’d be better if it was regular season. They will have some chances. They aren’t very good. I could see them finishing 9-3.

Need BYU to lose again. Maybe Tech losing would be enough to make it a 1 bid league but they really want 2.

If Georgia loses to Texas and GT they may be the one left out.

I don't see that.  I think whatever bonus points we would have got for making the score look closer than the game was against Ohio State we threw away by losing to bad Florida and going to OT against worse Kentucky and Miss St.

WTF?  We dominated that game in every facet except the scoreboard.  OSU only had the ball across the 50 twice.  And one of those was due to a INT.

Arch played his absolute worst game and they were driving to score the tying TD when arch missed a wide open crosser.

That game was closer than the score indicated actually.

Wtf. Did Marcel Reed die last night or something?

They’re good but they’ve played literally no one but week 2 ND who was still breaking in their new QB, who hasn’t plays anyone either but USC.

I think Aggy is better than a lot think but they’re not proven. Not yet.

No. Talking about a world where OU didn’t catch another loss.

Come to think of it, I've never seen Wulaw & Finebaum in the same room before ...

Paul Finebaum makes case for Texas, Vanderbilt in College Football Playoff after Week 11 chaos    https://www.on3.com/news/paul-finebaum-makes-case-for-texas-vanderbilt-in-college-football-playoff-after-week-11-chaos/   nsiap

Quote

Paul Finebaum isn’t ruling out the idea of Texas or Vanderbilt squeaking into the College Football Playoff. During an appearance on The Matt Barrie Show, the ESPN analyst explained how either team could reach the CFP.

“Let’s say Texas loses at Georgia. Then, they find the final game of the season is at home against what will likely be an undefeated Texas A&M team. So, should they get that win and finish 9-3, I think you’re going to have to have a serious argument that they have a spot in there,” Finebaum said. “… You’ll have to factor in that Ohio State game, and that could, that could give them a kick.

I think we need Notre Dame to lose to Pitt on Saturday for a 9-3 Texas team to have a real shot at making the playoffs. I don't think 7-2 Notre Dame with their cupcake schedule deserves to be ahead of 7-2 Texas, but the committee loves the domers enough to keep them ahead of us. If we lose to either UGA or aggy, we need Notre Dame to take a loss as well and maybe the committee will edge us ahead of them as the superior 9-3 team.

If you can let me know. I don’t bet on sports, and I’d take that line. I bet most of the degens on the site would too.

Why wouldn't you be able to in a legal state? Books take action on games way before the week of all the time.

I think the fact we have 2 top 5 opponents left compared to one borderline top 25 opponent left for Notre dame, if we win 2 out of the next 3 we should jump ahead of Notre dame if they win 2 of their next 3

Agree we should...but they'll point out 2 losses to 3 and one of them being Florida.

If Texas beats two top 10 opponents in November, especially if one is undefeated aggy, recency bias will win out. Especially if we don’t get blown out against Georgia

Just win them all though

I’m tired of reading all the herp derp dipshittery. It’s like 65% that a 9-3 texas would be in the playoffs.

3 big 10 teams and that’s it. You will not be able to make an argument for a 4th one.

10-2 Domers are in.
Group of 5 team.
SEC, ACC, Big 12 champs.

thats 8 teams. There are 4 left to get in.
Texas would have 3 wins against teams that are top 10 when they played them (and will all finish ranked). We’d have 3 losses. To the #1 squad at their place by a score, to the #4 team in the country at their house (guessing at Georgia) and to a very talented Florida team.
do you mongloids really think, for example a 10-2 Miami team with losses to shitty ass Louisville and SMU are going over us?  And their 12 fans?

root for Georgia tech to lose to Georgia and 1 other ACC game. Root for no big 12 teams to finish with 1 loss while not winning the auto bid. It’s certainly not a guarantee but son of a fucking hitch you simpletons it’s way more likely than not.
all that said/ fuck it let’s go 10-2 and win me $1000 from doc and play for the sec title

Already won money from Doc. He is greased up for you.

SEC tiebreaker rankings are so weird

https://bball.notnothing.net/bracket_cloud.php?conf=secfb

Wonder how a CCG loss would play out for playoff rankings, to sit at 10-3. Only chances to make the CCG is for Aggy to lose to South Carolina (and us), or Ole Miss drop 1 game. Bama could lose two games and we'd still be left out unless Aggy or Ole Miss drop another somewhere. There's scenarios where we could play any one of those 3 teams in the CCG.

Would have to think wins vs Georgia and Aggy would mean something.

Our rooting interest in order of importance if we want 9-3 Texas in (in order of importance)

1) Pitt over Domers

2) Florida over Ole Miss

3) bama over OU

4) Iowa over USC

5) Baylor over Utah

6) TCU over BYU

I’m only picking the games that could happen. If Miami, Texas tech, Georgia tech or Michigan want to lose to shitty teams I won’t be sad. Aggy getting drilled by SCar isn’t going to happen but if they get drilled and we drill them it could bring Texas at 9-3 into play over a 10-2 aggy. Probably not, but maybe.
All these games aren’t necessary to go our way, and they aren’t all created equally.
Domers losing to Pitt should just about do it for us to get in at 9-3 (if it’s a non blow out)

if Domers win that’s pretty much a wrap for their spot which is fine, but more complicated.
I also think we’d be damn near clinched of Bama and Florida win today. That should make 9-3 Texas the 4th place SEC team. 4 are definitely getting in.

Utah and BYU losing also pretty much make the big 12 a 1 team league and the SEC a 5 team league which should get Texas in. Neither of those results is likely necessary and Utah losing probably slightly better than BYU losing since they still have Cincy, but I believe neither is necessary and both are just good.

1 happening gets us to about 95% of getting in at 9-2.
2 and 3 happening together get us over 90%
4 happening gets us over 80%
5 or 6 happening get us over 80%
5 &6 both happening get us up over 90%.

note- I think beating Georgia comfortably and losing to an 11-0 aggy close is probably better for our playoff chances, but shit that would be tough to watch.

Thanks. @Wulaw Horn just came on here to see who needs to lose.  My new pipe dream would be to see aggys reaction to us going in over them with one more loss.

Aggy down 17-3 to Scar.
There’s a world of they get drilled and then we drill them that we get in before them. If you look at SOS and the fact that 7 of their 8 conference games are to the bottom half of the league, and we finish with the same conference record and drill them (while losing close to Georgia) the committee could go with us over them.
Also, a loss here for them means if we also beat them they aren’t playing for the SEC title. Which is turdition for them.
I’m rooting for them to lose even though it’s maybe not in our interests if we are 9-3. But it’s worth it to see them lose.

Is there a world where the Gamecocks win this and then we beat Aggy convincingly and they get left out in favor of a 3 loss Texas with a head to head win with a SOS and recent performance argument? I think so.

Depends a lot on how our loss to Georgia would go and how convincing our win over them is. I’d call it a coinflip.

Ok, played with the calculator. Basically Ole Miss has to lose. Ole Miss loses to Forida or Miss St, and Texas wins out, they are in. Otherwise, like you said, we get screwed. The Bama OU game doesn't matter.

you’re talking OU having wins against Michigan, Tennessee, and top 4 bama.

Texas would have wins over Vandy, Top 3 Aggy, and, oh yeah OU.

We’ll rally find out how much they really ding us for the loss to #1 OSU

Somehow, LSU 23 Arkansas 22 slap fest is going to be the reason we lose out on something.

Funnily enough if it ends up a four way tie at 7-1, that result could be the difference between us at 1st vs 4th. Aggies don’t make it in that scenario either so wouldn’t bother me all that much.

No- us finishing ahead of Georgia. OU would be ahead of us imo. Georgia wouldn’t have big scallops and we’d have head to head and way more quality wins. Ole Miss losing be huge for us.
