Hopefully Sark uses the bowl game as a fancy scrimmage. Get Caldwell and Lacy out there. Get Daniel Cruz and the backup OL they expect to stay some reps. Get the kid receivers and kid DBs some reps.

Evaluation time.

Caldwell was an insurance policy. He gone.

No seriously, I am not sure what counts as a "projection" to you. My opinion is based on the fact that Texas Tech doesn't have the Jimmies or the Joes to compete with elite programs. A team with a good record from a weak conference does not fool Vegas. Why do you think Penn State was heavily favored against Boise last year, even though Boise had a guy with stats comparable to Barry Sanders? I don't have a problem with Tech getting an automatic bid and being the representative from the Big XII. I even think they have a puncher's chance of upsetting a team like Texas A&M if they were to meet. But Vegas would still have aggy favored. SEC teams just have more depth and have been tested more than Tech has. If you think we're just being biased, by all means, test that theory by going somewhere else and asking what they think Vegas would be likely to do and why.

Find one of the computer models out there. Sagarin, CFB nerds, any of them. Find me one that shows Texas would be favored on a neutral field.

We're going to end up being favored by 15 over BYU, give or take. Do you think you would be favored by that much or more? You wouldn't be. Flat out. Zero question. You'd be laying probably 6.5

Does Caldwell still have eligibility to come back?

In any case he won't be the future, this one will be for the young guys, (Including Arch) and yes a glorified scrimmage against another team who hopefully has just as many players opting out

I mean we were favored against OU. We were a slight dog to aggy. We were favored against Vandy when we had played exactly one good game. You really think yall would be favored neutral.

This is exactly it. Would probably portal in a new insurance policy, but Lacey should have most reps and if he's good he should beat out the insurance portal guy for 2nd string.

Obviously an Aggie here. I agree the CFP method is flawed. The closer we get to an NFL model, the better off we all will be. You guys have SOLID wins. You beat our ass like a red-headed stepchild. OU was your bitch. I was pissed we lost. Luckily I only broke a Roku remote and not any personal relationships at the end of that game. With a better system in place, you would obviously be in the CFP. Honestly I would like another shot at you guys. We were outcoached and outplayed. Elko and Reed lost all ability to be leaders during that game. Kudos to your fans for actually showing up. They made the difference.

I live firmly in the mix of several houses divided. Fiance and her fam all went to Bama. Except for my future FIL that went to Texas. It helps with perspective.

Bottom line, you have one of the best teams in college football at this point. Failing early in the season shouldn't be such a weighted factor here. Hell, even the shitty Cowboys have a path to the playoffs.

Cheers guys. See you next year!

Does Sagarin simulate games? I've not seen anything like that.

I don't think BYU is any good. We'll see if Tech covers whatever the spread ends up being.

no. His predictor goes off of past games and how teams do. win big vs high team=booming score. not just W's and L's.

BYU is 25th best team in his predictor. Texas is 13. Penn State is 10th lol barely losing to Oregon and Indiana do that for  a score

We lost to tosu by 7 while outgaining them by 200 yards.   I don’t think there’s one team that can chalk up an easy win over Texas.  Does that mean we would beat everyone?  Of course not

Seems like we’re making good progress to the playoff!

Like I don't understand the weird narratives around here. I think Texas deserves to be in and is good enough to be in, but the problem is the goddamn format is stupid. Like I said earlier, we have, for all of our waking lives, treated D1 CFB postseason as if it's some kind of special unicorn that needs a cutesie setup no other sport has. It doesn't. It doesn't need a shitty system like the BCS, and it doesn't fucking need a compressed playoff. It just needs a normal ass playoff like every. other. fucking. sports. has.

The argument back in the BCS days against having a playoff at all was that having even one more game would be too much for teams and they would miss too many classes etc, which was obviously bullshit considering D2 had been doing it for decades no problem. Now the national champ will have played 16 games and no one bats an eye about it.

Whoever proposed a 16 team format without G5 participants at all is right on the money. If we had that, then there is no discussion whatsoever. Texas would be in and we'd all be talking about who was favored over who, who is getting the most favorable matchups, etc etc instead of this nonsense conversation.

Chat got has Texas as a 3-5 point favorite when I asked it. I realize Chat is dumb and am not using that as definitive but I counter stupid shot like that off it for a data point and lulz. I think of you asked this question to every SEC fanbase they’d say Texas. My aggy brother said Texas by 10 but he’s so into SEC cool aid it’s not funny. Hes a big dumb dumb but I repeat myself because I already said aggy.
regardless, you aren’t going to see the good models Vegas uses. Who in the country do you think Texas is a dog to right now at a neutral site?

Okay, the thing is that Vegas doesn't use these weird little websites, and for good reason. Sagarin for example has Notre Dame #2. Sorry but that right there discredits everything else his model has to say about college football in 2025. Kenpom would never.

I'm mainly going by matchups and talent. Texas would simply overwhelm Tech, and that's how I see the game shaking out 9 out of 10 times, which is how Vegas will set the line.

Get rid of another pointless OOC game while we're at it and move the postseason a week earlier. Let the non-playoff teams have some consolation tournament.

I think Tech's front seven has looked very good this year.  I also think Tech's front seven has not played anywhere close to a really physical line this year.  We shall see....

probably not a big enough number. .  could easily see them saying champ games don't knock you out...I bet they are saying ACC is a one bid league and Big 12 is 2 if necessary.  they will badly want to avoid the "this is just SEC/BiGTen" narrative.

It puts them in the realm of Utah, Michigan, and USC.  Decent teams but no shot to make the CFB.  The argument from the committee would have to be extra data point, but isn't that exactly the consideration Texas fans are asking for?

Let me tell you who wants Texas in the playoff. And wants Texas to keep big non conference games.

The Ohio State vs. Texas game drew 16.62 million viewers, making it the most-watched Week 1 college football game on record. The game peaked at 18.6 million viewers and was broadcast on Fox as part of the "Big Noon Saturday" window.
Average Viewership: 16.62 million viewers.
Peak Viewership: The game peaked at 18.6 million viewers between 3:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. ET.
Significance: This was the most-watched Week 1 college football game since tracking began in 1993

But will the committee care more about what the TV executives want or will they want to avoid the controversy more?

Show me just one predictor that says Texas would be favored over just Tech alone on a neutral field, never mind the rest. I'll keep waiting. We would beat the fuck out of Tech regardless of where we played them. There's your data point.

ok cool. Fuck off and get off our board then stupid pussy.

you think anyone outside of techtard Lubbock gives a flying fuck about tech and the pussy big 12 schedule they played all season? You’re basically the other mid major like James Madison or unt that gets in the CFP. No one respects the big 12 outside of Lubbock or Utah. Literally no one. So go bang an aids infested Lubbock chick.

Sure. And you said no other fanbase would see it that way and I’m telling you they absolutely would. As would most of the public as Texas is a public team. All of which influences the lines. If y’all match up with an SEC team we should have a pretty good idea of where Vegas  would put a hypothetical Texas v Tech line.

We would fuckstomp Tech. Beating our rivals is easy. Beating UGA and OSU, hard. Simple as that.

Arch doesn't need much time to make plays, but also, how would you know? There's not a single B1G or SEC team on Tech's schedule. Tech opted to schedule Oregon State, a team that can't even beat Sam Houston in Corvallis. It's safe to say, Tech's front seven has not actually been tested.

There are plenty of models out there and I haven't seen one that predicts Texas would be favored on a neutral field. I've been asking for it for hours at this point.

I think they just need a reason to rationalize it. Like Georgia stomping Alabama or tech beating the crap out of byu. Incentivize big games rather than punish. Miami might end up with their feelings hurt but they can’t even sell out their stadium.

Yea, most teams “washed” our O-line and most of them lost
