reports are that congregation engaged the shooter, no idea what really happened

attack the ambush?  If so, they probably saved lives.

FWIW, one could argue that Poway is the nicest town in San Diego County.  Best schools by any yardstick

Wife went to same HS as shooter. His dad was a teacher there and they live a few streets from her parents. It’s an ideal place to grow up and if someone can be radicalized there it can definitely happen anywhere.

New Zealand was "radicalized". So was suburban Pittsburgh. And pastoral UVA, etc.

Things have gotten ridiculous. Shootings & mayhem have shifted from schools and clubs to mosques & churches.

People are preying upon the most innocent. That is a trend. Vigorous hate directed at the most vulnerable, blameless and harmless.

I’d say the radicalization has become more targeted.  If only we could better identify the sources of the targeting/hatred and reasons behind them.

Moreover, these shooters/bombers are also very weak and vulnerable people being preyed upon and persuaded towards violence (radicalized).

Our very own Iconoclast is one who has advocated his desire to harm people; people whose crime is to seek a better opportunity and safety for their family members, and yet he fantasizes about shooting them and seeing them attacked by dogs. He also hates people he doesn’t know, because he was raised this way or finds camaraderie and acceptance from others whose ignorance he should not be seeking.

Hate speech should be suppressed and challenged. Generally speaking we do a good job of it on here not to allow it to go on or become acceptable. How we handle it in the real world matters more.

De-platforming works.

I’d argue that the internet communities have enabled the uptick in violence.

Will leave the political commentary at the door.

The double edged sword of information accessibility, and the 24 hour news cycle.  It plays on the minds of the sane, and unstable.

I guess I can see why some precious snowflakes might be offended by my post (although it wasn't meant to offend).

We as a country have a big gun problem.

If that doesn't count as "news" to you, then so be it.

Problem is who is deciding what "Hate Speech" is.  Across college campuses and around the country they seem to define Hate Speech as anything that is of a different political view than theirs.

Think of it this way, if you are liberal then President Trump gets to decide and if you are conservative then President Obama gets to decide.  I'm sure everyone will sign up for that.

I know right? I think of pornography the same way.  Who gets to define it?  Seems to me pornography is just content weird people don’t want to see and they get to make all the rules.  Very unfair.

The only gun problem I have is that I don't have enough guns.  Now go fuck off.
