Now that clean up has started and search teams are winding down (still 3 more people to find), I have made some personal observations (awesome and disgusting) from the last two weeks: Awesome - * 12,000 volunteers hat either showed up/live in Kerr County that helped with SAR, feeding, giving food, shelter, supplies, equipment, money, love, prayers to anyone in need. Most all volunteered their time free of charge. Shout out to Acuna SAR, Czech Republic SAR, the many first responders from Texas and the US. Kerr County appreciates and loves all of you! * My neighbors Chris & Jennifer, who assisted the Parisher family after their home was demolished and they would up close to our neighborhood's front gate. Aaron Parsley, who was in the home with his family, wrote a story in Texas Monthly that is an outstanding read. Be forewarned, you will cry as you read it. * Mercy Chefs. What an organization. Preparing 4-5000 meals a day for first responders and anyone in need. True heroes and still here. * My friends Tim & Cindy. Tim called me at 6 am on the 4th and told me the situation (we had no idea of the destruction on the morning of the 4th) and immediately started setting up City West church in Ingram with donated food and drinks for anyone that needed it. He told the pastor of the church (more about this a-hole later and we do not go to church here!) that we are going to take over his building and that is where first responders/Mercy Chefs set up shop. Cindy assisted Tim with Mercy Chefs and the Ingram Tom Moore HS coaching staff to deliver meals/water/supplies to camps in Hunt and first responders. And still are at the time of this writing. * Surly Response. Thank you @Homesickhorn, @InkaUtexas, @BillyGoatHill, @BurntEyes, @TexasEd, @TxEx84 and @tejas60 for reaching out and helping. * My new friend, JP Gonzalez, who is principle engineer for Rackspace Technology. JP was in Centerpoint Saturday sharpening chainsaws for free with his family and I am fortunate to know good people like him and his wife. * HEB, James Avery Charities (Thank you Paula and Margaret), Walmart, Mary's and Rita's Tacos, McDonalds, Chick Fil A, 323 Bakery, Barreras Tacos, Culvers and countless others in providing donations of money and food for everyone. Disgusting - * The pastor (Butthead) and his secretary (Goblin) from City West Church. Two of the sorriest humans that I have ever met. They reluctantly opened their huge facility to our team on the 4th. Also, the secretary turned away people that had dire needs for shelter/food/supplies/money. Our team was able to help the majority that she turned away with what they needed. She had no compassion and has no heart - FUCK HER! The pastor (not a true pastor of God) started hoarding gift cards/money that was supposed to go to people in need - FUCK YOU TOO! Both will face a reckoning when they meet their God - I pity their souls, but seriously - FUCK both of them. * The lady that came by the supply/food/water area three days straight gathering everything that she could carry to resell on Ebay. We had lots of people that had serious needs and she is taking every toothbrush (80+) and toothpaste (more than 100 tubes), 100s of diapers, trash bags full of everything! Holy shit! We finally ran her off, but I bet she was grifting somewhere else. FUCK that puta! * The lady at a mobile home park that was sitting in front of a damaged mobile home. When people sked what she needed, she replied "I have a Venmo". After dozens of people donated to her, come to find out she was not a resident of the park and didn't experience any destruction of her property. She was just taking advantage of the generosity of others. FUCK her also. I understand that there will always be those that take advantage of others in a time of crisis. Outside of these examples, I saw way more awesome than disgusting and we called out the disgusting when we saw it. Thank you all again. WKH

What is next? -
Yes but as the eloquent Sheryl swoopes pointed out, it took Clark 700 more shots and two extra years to do so so it’s not fair

Go on…

Except literally everyone who thought that that was a bad look for our country is gone, and we're left with leaders who were probably asking, "What's the big deal? They deserve worse." back then.

Third spaces are critical for human contentment and happiness imo. Church was the de facto one for most humans throughout the last few hundred years - work, home, church. It’s critical imo that we all find and cultivate that third space. That’s 100% my goal for him here - school, family, band. @The Dog as someone who was in a cult during college I vehemently disagree.

This series actually makes me look forward to my weekly drive between Austin and Dallas

I can see it, but I can really hear it... After Cooper makes another punishing, soul breaking run to finish another victory, the is a deep rumbling noise from the fans. Coooooooooooooooooop..... Coooooooooooooooop....(think of Conan the Barbarian where "Doom" is chanted by the faithful. Welcome aboard Derrek. I have a feeling you are truly gonna leave a mark. And not just in the back of safety's pant...

Somehow, "if he breaks a tackle he might just go all the way" has a different feel under Sarkisian's offense than it did under the Greg Davis regime. Here's a treat from the past. Barking Carnival by Vasherized. Not much I can add to that. -

No doubt there’s a complex pathway to first-team football in France, although to think that a player with 44 senior-level club goals in his career can be our (third-highest?) record signing! The market is just crazy; I’m just glad FSG is opening up their wallet to give Slot what he wants. -
they are going to beat barn easily barn sux there are several games they have already LOCKED as wins such as pig @ pig they haven't been there in 12 years and have won the last 2 in arkansas however...... in little rock they are 3-9 in fayettenam they are 7-12-2 all-time in the state of pig they are 10-21-2 for comparison their record in red stick is 10-27-1 if pig are at all improved and if this is a night game i don't see a win

Trump calls for former Guardians and Commanders names.
Bateshorn replied to boilerhorn's topic in Cloak Room
I did not open this thread expecting to find a bunch of Anti-Ginger stuff and a dipshit defending "Redskins," but this is absolutely the worst timeline, so: IDC about the Guardians, that's a Cleveland problem, from a DC perspective, becuase Trump can cancel DC's lease on the RFK stadium site, he actually could affect the Commanders future plans. Harris can't build unless he can secure financing, which as of yesterday's tweet is now in jeopardy. Most directly, if VA goes Blue in the 2025 off year elections, the chances that Virginia offers the Commanders a fully paid stadium, with retail and development rights somewhere in the DC exurbs is very, very strong. Everyone wants the staidum on the old RFK site, but if the money is right, Harris isn't going to say no and the Owners will lean on him to take a deal with no private financiing/buy in. As the 49ers discovered, you can always B roll the city night shots for MNF. -

There's more on the Mamdani transcript story. This 'violently racist' hacker claims to be the source of The New York Times' Mamdani scoop. Piece is too long to quote in full, but I found this notable: It's pretty clear that editors at the times knew the that both the hacker and his intermediary were nazis, yet assigned a politics story about a politician they don't like to a freelance health reporter, and even let him violate their own guidelines on the use of anonymous sources.

Into the Wild. I probably would have enjoyed this more when it first came out nearly twenty years ago. Now, as an older person, I was bothered by all the dumbass decisions made by the main character.

Hope this is true I can tell you my son had leadership sessions last week W-F from 9-5 and this week until school starts, he gets to be at school at 6:45 AM until 5:00 PM to prep for the season. One has to think that type of dedication has an impact when being considered for a school (whether you want to be in marching band or not)

My now-senior wouldn't even talk to us about any type of major or any potential college until January or February. She was paralyzed with fear because she had no clue what she might want to do, and couldn't imagine herself in a college environment and so wouldn't allow herself to even think about it. We finally just took her on a couple of campus visits and that's when she could finally see herself on a campus as a college student, and it has opened her up to some possibilities. Tough part for me is, she's going to be auto-admit to UT but for various reasons she doesn't really want to go to there. So I find myself on this thread looking at other options.
