Is Amazon's War of the Worlds the worst movie ever made?
JBJ replied to Rimbo's topic in Movies and TV
I read the books as a kid and randomly stumbled on this - not knowing what was. It's pretty terrible. Probably the worst adaptation and this book series has a long history of bad adaptations. -
I'm pretty sure it gets to an actual in box. Beyond that, no idea.

Son is a diehard sox fan. All his friends are planning on going down. Best friend of mine is an Astros fan. He will fly up from Ecuador. Nose bleed is the idea. they are young kids and such. I would prefer 3rd base line or the outfield. -

Team USA is doomed, going to be embarrassing to lose at Bethpage. Dark days ahead, the point of argument will be that Keegan should have played.

Our guy says there's no rush. I think that's schools trying to FOMO you and your kid. Our guy wants us to have everything in line by the end of September and I think that's more so we can start putting in applications in early October. Most deadlines are November 1st. One thing you probably have to do before then is the FAFSA. Most schools won't start looking at applications till after the deadline. I'm sure if it's a private and you're doing Early Decision, those all go to the front of the line because there's definite acceptances for the school so it's less of a time waste. Our plan is to apply and do some revisits if she gets accepted to ones she really values and is on her upper tier. If somehow she gets into UT or the CAP is offered then our decision making timeframe is pushed up considerably. I don't think either happens honestly unless she ups her SAT by 100 points.

Like another shot with the Houston Astros???? Not sure the big ball club can handle all that production?

Venetian Hot Plate owners will be on vacation while we are in Port A. Any other restaurant worth making a reservation for, or should we just plan on heading to Corpus for anything other than fried fish?

As it’s past 5 o’clock, and with the perspicacity provided by the cocktail hour, maybe Trump is playing 5D chess with India! On one hand, he is slamming them with tariffs. On the other hand, he is dramatically raising the price of beef….hhmmmmm

Apparently cutting Bryant was just procedural and he’s expected to resign with the Texans, presumably to the practice squad?

Most of the early Old Testament is a bunch of cranky scribes recording the efforts of even crankier prophets and sometimes kings to make a not-very-good-at-monotheism people into monotheists. And it’s a lot of ancient Near Eastern literature and history with all the exaggeration and narrative building that entails, so when you read about massive victories or horrible genocides it bears remembering that we also have their neighbors recording similar things, like announcing themselves rulers of the known universe and slayers of all foes after capturing some dusty village. Even if you don’t take the stories literally, there are echoes of the dark and violent world that the scribes were trying to get people to leave behind. Abraham was surprisingly cool and unsurprised about the whole “go burn your son alive” thing; that story doesn’t make any sense outside of a people with a cultural memory of child sacrifice. So the God of Leviticus and then the God of the exiled Israelites is remarkably more chill than the assortment of Semtic deities that were running things before Him. These things are a spectrum. -
7 on 7 definitely has its drawbacks, especially for quarterbacks. And I'm not a 7 on 7 hater. What's remarkable about Shedeur, is that he got severely punished for two seasons holding the ball too long and it still didn't change the habit. Nobody on the Colorado staff could get him to stop.

Couple rough play calls for the looks Georgia showed there. As limited as Quinn was, he had played a lot of ball and was adept at getting into a good play at the LOS. I gotta think that Arch will be strong there - that trait is as endemic to the Manning family as any other. As things slow down, he won't miss a ball like Golden running wide open on that last play either. Tough to watch, but I'm sure the kid has seen these cutups thousands of time. Expecting an entirely different guy out there Saturday morning.
