Well Written Content OU Football 2025 - League Average & Loving It
closetojumping replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
Another thing that fascinates me about OU heading into the 2025 season is that they brought Kevin Wilson in to help "manage the program". This guy was despised at Indiana and Tulsa. He represents the meatheadiest part of the Stoops era and the okies absolutely love him. They talk about him likes he's a great addition and great guy. He comes across as toxic and clueless. You take Wilson, Schmidt, and Venables running practices together and it seems pretty fucking obvious that they're going to have more injuries this season. Venables loves to have his defense beat the shit out of the offense from day one through the bowl practices (if they qualify). Yet, every season, OU and the media are stunned by the spate of injuries and "bad luck" that befalls OU during the season. I was listening to Dvoracek (OU homer), Nowkhah (OU honk), Jacob Hester and Chris Doering (blindest Florida/SEC honk to have ever lived) talk about OU being sneaky good this year during the SEC Media Days last week. Nowkhah started reeling off the WR names we know here and spoke about them as being a strength of the team and that "they would have been last year without the bad luck with injuries". Burks put up great numbers against Temple and overall averaged less then 9 ypc. Jayden Gibson can't stay healthy and is still recovering from a torn up knee that he hurt again in the spring. The other Gibson just got out of his boot from a fractured lower leg. Everyone else is from FCS or a complete unknown. If that's a team strength, boy, don't even show me your weaknesses. Is anyone going to be shocked when there are more injuries in the WR room by this time in September? The easiest unit to hurt through physically violent practices run by a defensively-oriented idiot is the WR group. -
And if a random double play happens to end an inning the game is automatically ended or something silly like that.

I really hope BV can scratch out 8 wins and keep his job.

MPJ profiles as a good defender because of his length and rebounding ability. Then he steps on the court. He showed some promising steps forward in 2023 then was awful in 2024 and awful/hurt in 2025. Now that he’s on the Nets, I doubt he ever becomes even a middling defender. I’ll take Cam Johnson all day because I’m trading elite (but streaky?) wing shooting for good wing shooting and an uptick in everything else. The next time MPJ puts the ball on the floor and makes a play will probably be the first time.

Harry Potter night should have runs arbitrarily rewarded throughout the game based on offensive and defensive outcomes. Negative points for starting the wave, strikeouts, errors etc.

Damn, forgot to apply this year. Congrats to those of you that got selected!

Dude is basically arguing that a blonde joke is the equivalent of the N word. After a few pages of "just asking questions" and feigning offense when you point out the implied argument behind them. Hes a clown -
Shit, we're gonna do touristy stuff most of the day. Figure we'll get to Fenway late afternoon, to take in the sights and scenes.

Apparently, their IT went down. I thought we had it bad 'til i stepped off the plane and saw the people in a long line trying to re-book their flights...at 3am!! Wonder where they all slept? Probably in the chairs.

Is it possible for someone to have thinner skin than Trump and not have their bodily fluids leak out of their meat sack?

While I agree mostly, it was year 1 and it was a pretty big success. I could see it going very much along the lines of what the Big 3 league is doing. That league is moving more to individual franchises based in different cities. Its not a rival to the NBA (no matter what Ice Cube says) and Unrivaled isnt a rival to the W. It is a great starting point for that league and for players to have an option to earn good money while staying here in the US. They can also have some input on how that league grows/changes going forward.

In dealing with bomb squad bidness, I would think that all such assumptions are a bad idea. -

Yep, fly in early and fly out the next morning. I have been to Fenway, my son has been to Fenway, but we have not gone together. So we said fuck it. We should be near Yawkey about noon on the 26th. You got my number.

Short answer: YES Longer Answer: Frequently the Tour starts out from the same town that they ended at the day before. Other times it ends in one town and then starts close by the next morning. This year in Montpellier, the day before the start (Today, Monday July 21st) is a rest day. I didn’t know for sure what was going on today, but so knew for sure that there would at least be people building shit up for tomorrow’s pre-start festivities. The Tour always starts off in the 12 o’clock hour, so that leaves hours of shit to see and doing the morning, but it has to get set up in advance. This kind of shit: Was still being set up today, but was only for sponsors later this evening before being open to the public tomorrow, the morning of the start. REMEMBER: 1) Professional sports are really Entertainment & a Platform for Advertisers. 2) The Tour de France is basically a traveling carnival brought to you by major corporations. It is the NASCAR of Europe. It is all about the brands and connecting with the customers. I tried a Lay’s chips knockoff, a Nutella knockoff… …some ready-made pasta sauce… Gave my email out to som VIP events & travel company (CENTURY 21) to get a couple of plastic shopping bags for my friends’ kids, chatted with a guy who didn’t speak English about Pétanque, and what makes OBUT brand Pétanque Balls so special (an official Tour sponsor with Pétanque setups in Lille & Montpellier this year) There were free yellow hats, I got a blue & white bucket cap from some company named “Krys” for waiting in line and having an eye exam. (My distance vision is till “perfect”, but my reading vision is “complicated”. (A.K.A. “It sucks.”) Saw a few different Poloce stands, depending on whether you wanted to be an investigator or a general police officer, and then the fire department had helmets and an obstacle course for little kids.. …and tons more. My hope is that tomorrow we will be able to see team bikes on stands from a close distance. If you have watched the Tour on TV, you can tell that the national board of tourism has its fingers into the overall route of the race, the individual daily routes, and even the camera shots and the information provided the commentators, at least the English speaking ones for the USA. This is the first time that the Tour has passed through Montpellier in 9 years, so it’s a special thing here. Also, I asked the girl giving me my eye exam and a person at another stand and they both told me that they live locally and are only working this Fan Fest, they are not traveling with the Tour. There are likely some who do, and then there are people with a company like the Pétanque ball company who likely will only show up to Lille and Montpellier this year and skip the rest of the tour and not hire anyone for other stops either. NOTE: I am tired of and may have made mistakes. I don’t feel like rereading this post either, so if I made mistakes… fuck it.

Shit like thinking feeding the animals is OK is part of what a lot of people here hate about tourists. -
Tea will hit in 10-15 minutes compared to 30-45 min after chewing them up.
