Do you FIRE? Financial Independence, Retire Early
Bateshorn replied to UTGrad98's topic in Business and Markets
France has fairly simple permanent residence laws. 5 years with sufficient income, plus B1 language (if I'm remembering correctly). You can long stay visa the whole way. The big upside of France is they have one of the strongest tax treaties with the US, and as of now, do not tax pension or IRA distributions. Unfortunately, they are making the citizenship tougher, requiring B2 starting next year. But that's different than permanent residence. The paper work is a bitch from what I understand. There are legal sherpas, but expensive, but we will probably use them. -

As I've said before, I have more respect for MAGA diehards than people like the DT safe space Trump voters that continue to quietly support him and conveniently disappear when the shit hits the fan. The latter deserve more blame for this country falling apart, as moral cowardice is way worse than plain stupidity.

He doesn’t have to think like me. I’m just asking him to accurately write what happened in the class and not instigate in the opening post while he pokes fingers in the chest of anyone who tries to make this thread political.

Ok then. I can clearly recall student protests from the left on various things that never amounted to anything, as well as the ones where student groups sponsoring controversial speakers canceled events. I didn't recall any adverse administration action or certainly the federal government getting involved. But I am old. Shanty out front should have told you. Nonetheless, that report indicates that external pressure from the right recently has accelerated, rather exponentially.

I've tried the low/no carb bit in the past, and I don't find it sustainable for me. I usually work in a quick-digesting carb before a workout (usually a banana), and some slower-digesting carbs post workout (oats or sweet potatoes). Those help feed my muscles and meet my daily fiber goal. Without them, I'm not as regular, and I don't have as good amount of sustained energy throughout the day.

Enjoy the ride.

Why is the younger generation so intolerant?

Yes, If you just thought like you were told there wouldn’t be any problem. ’You are free to be a drunkard, an idler, a coward, a backbiter, a fornicator; but you are not free to think for yourself.’ -

Texas Tech hasn’t done jack squat !!! Texas Tech is not getting shafted by the polls. But the last sentence in the quote cuts to the heart of the matter. The pollster think so highly of what Norte Dame is gonna do in the future they ignore ND’s now - which is a loss Likewise, they think so poorly of Mich and Bama’s future they are ignoring OU and FSU’s now - which are two wins We are used to non helmet schools getting this treatment. To see it happening to 4 helmet schools is something new altogether and it’s completely blowing up any pretense and narratives about history, culture, and tradition and is boldly and blatantly proclaiming F all y’all - we decide who we want in our little game and there’s nothing you can do about it. -

If we lose to Japan - does the confederation fire Poch?

Arch is just a different QB. He is much more of a playmaker. He isnt a system guy throwing darts in the short game. I think this is going to be an interesting marriage with Sark. Sark likes system guys. I think Sark is going to have to loosen the leash over time and let Arch be Arch.

Too late to edit, but the above is, I believe, why Talarico among others is not usually explicitly Christian or biblical in his criticism and attacks on the very unchristian things going on in the lege and elsewhere. Part of the whole deal of real Christianity is the humility not to try to tell others they're doing it wrong because you have your own hands full trying not to do it wrong. As is often said by right-thinking folks around here "I'm not a Christian, but I'm trying." I have, however, made the same complaint about Islam in that it seems that the sane followers do nothing to restrain the insane ones. I assume, but don't know that Islam has the same sort of teachings about personal humility and religious righteousness.

Yeah, this won't go down well. Israel carries out attack against Hamas leadership in Qatar, Israeli source says Israel carried out an attack against the Hamas leadership in Doha, an Israeli source told CNN, after an explosion was heard in the Qatari capital. The source didn’t say who was targeted, but Hamas leaders have used the Qatari capital as a headquarters outside of Gaza for years. https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/09/middleeast/qatar-hamas-israel-strike-intl

USMNT 2025 - Easy English, hard ones Spanish
Hagbard Celine replied to Captain Ron's topic in Futbol
there was a way to compensate for no competitive preparation...... the owners of the ponzi-scheme exhibition (i.e., mls) could have said fuck it, given our political vector, fifa will not consider the us as host until the year 2100, so let's try to win next year, and push a billion dollars to the middle of the table, buy up every us player in europe for 1 year on loan, and create two (2) TEAM USA sides that play in mls as 100% road teams during the year prior to the '94 tournament 80% of what would become the us roster were actually employed by the federation which gave bora the opportunity to instill his full-sam bunker 442 system and practice it on a daily basis the nasl created a Team America in 1983 but it finished 10-20 in last place and never had the opportunity to fulfill it's purpose, i.e. create a competitive nats side to compete for '86 qualification the precedent was there, but at the end of the day, the entire soccer establi$hment in the us is only interested in profiting from their exhibition attended and supported by customers with no understanding of the international soccer economy +++ The U.S. men’s national team has fallen to 48th in the world in the Elo ratings—its lowest position of the 21st century. The Elo system, adapted from chess, is widely regarded as a more accurate measure of a team’s strength (see how it’s calculated here) than Fifa’s official ranking, which currently places the USMNT 15th. See Fifa’s rankings here. Mauricio Pochettino took charge with the USMNT ranked 37th in Elo. After 17 matches, his side has not beaten a team ranked above them, slipping to 45th after a 4-0 defeat to Switzerland in June. Saturday’s 2-0 loss to South Korea dropped them to their new modern-era low. Historically, the USMNT climbed to 15th in Elo after beating Portugal at the 2002 World Cup and reached 12th following a 2005 qualifier win over Mexico. Their peak came after defeating Spain in the 2009 Confederations Cup, when they rose to 11th, briefly jumping to 9th later that summer. -

Went back and watched both games. Im no expert. I have done a 180 on Arch. While not pretty....he's literally 3-4 passes and a couple other drops away from an outstanding start. Yes he's looked mechanically shaky but he's way better than the criticism so far. Posted this on another thread, we would much more prefer him to progress through the season than regress. 2 really bad passes to Wingo, the dirt throw to open tOSU, missed 2 other 2nd layer throws (one he took the deep ball in double coverage), threw a bullet to the TE when a soft toss was enough, then the 1 big drop last week....he also had one big play overturned by penalty....even half of those hit and we are having a much different discussion. We need be patient and be glad he has room to improve as the schedule plays out. Just my 2cents. Not sure this matters, but he's just barely 21 by a 4-5 mos. By end of next year if we make a January run, he'll be closer to 23...i think that matters, we need to let him mature.
