  3. Hang on, I'm not paying attention - who is being runoft? I really am a big tent guy and I'll take anyone who will vote against GOP. I personally think the progressives are the folks who are fucking things up, but I think part of it is a definitional problem. I think "progressive" is a bit of a broken definition. If I am in an anti-progressive mood, the definition has too much identity politics and defund the police woven in. If I am in a pro-progressive mood, it's about a color blind radically progressive tax system and universal health care.
  4. This is pretty much where I am. I would imagine Texas is going to play super conservatively on offense with Florida's relative defensive strength, offensive woes, turnover proclivity, a tough road environment, Arch's inconsistency/yips, and Texas having a strong punting and special teams game. This is your win by playing, "complementary football" game plan if there ever was one. I'm predicting lots of brakes and not a ton of gas. It's probably going to be ugly but winning ugly is a good thing. Just get the W however we can. And god forbid we kick a fucking field goal on fourth down.
  5. I have outlined my position on what the Democrats should be doing numerous times in other threads. I don't have the energy to repeat myself for the 1000th time, sorry.
  6. Trump announces that the US is guaranteeing Qatar security: I'm sure this has nothing to do with the 747 that Qatar donated to Trump. Even if an foreign relation exec order is fully legitimate and in the best interest of the US, this is why we have those pesky rules of not allowing President to personally accept material gifts, like an expensive watch or a $400m plane. You can decouple the legitimacy from the illegitimacy.
  7. True, Zeihan was beating the drum about pressure literally building up in the pipelines when things are going offline and there’s no extra storage, but I would think they would have safeguards, but it is Russia so….
  8. And the really fun part is that it all needs to happen fast enough that it meaningfully alters the landscape before next year's midterms...which also presumes that they're held, and held fairly - neither one a guarantee these days. I feel like if shit doesn't get dramatically worse for everyone by next summer, then too many swingable voters will still be content enough with the status quo, and the people with status and opportunity to affect real change will still have too much to personally lose by sticking their necks out.
  9. so far, this season has played out the way Mary Cabot predicted. Flacco to start then get benched with Gabriel starting then at some point Sheduer (regardless of how Gabriel plays). They need to see what they have heading into next year's draft. The thing is the Browns have a really good defense - the blowouts are due to Flacco's turnovers and special teams gaffes. Having any competence at QB gives them a chance to win games.
  10. wait, you guys are saying this isn't factually correct? L O fucking L. Self realization score : ZERO point fucking ZERO
  11. There isn't a recession coming. It's a complete economic collapse.
  12. Thankfully for Oklahoma, there's absolutely no precedent for an injured Heisman contending QB to rush a return from injury to play vs. Texas and then get re-injured early in the game. Nope, nothing at all to worry about here!
  13. I win for best linking of two threads...
  14. Enjoy your alkaline burn you stupid MFer.
  15. Snitker out as manager but staying with Braves "senior advisory"
  16. The biggest thing that would put the 2026 midterms at risk is a robust stock market and economy. That's not why the Dems should hold their ground here, but Trump and the GOP has way more to lose on a recession, and they know it.
  17. Health Dept shut down Uncle Julio's with 42 demerits. If anyone ever at there, now you know why you got the trots...
  18. Maybe they're telling the truth and inability to maintain the plants is coming home to roost?
  19. You're not wrong. The biggest fault of Klein's premise (doing whatever it takes to win back Republican voters so Dems are in power and can enact good policies) is believing the other side would sincerely give Dems a chance. Also trying to placate Republicans with disingenuous talking points will just bite you in the ass sooner than later. Coates is steadfast in his morality. It's fascinating to watch the dichotomy between these two.
  20. Maybe Florida isn't a sleeping giant that is just waiting for us to give them a little bit of hope to unlock the 5-star, Top 15 talent that they have all over the field but couldn't unlock themselves without the generous help of By Gawd UT. Maybe we play a bit conservative, Arch throws for one and runs for one, has a solid, if unspectacular game, and the defense strangles their ass and makes them execute play after play as they try to slog their way to 3 points each drive. I trust Taaffe in center field if they want to go deep. I trust Pete K will be just fine taking away the deep ball and insisting they try to nickel and dime their way down the field. It's kinda what our Defense excels at. 20-13 Texas. Leave Florida with a win and prepare for a better matchup with a healthier WR and RB room ready to unleash some wrinkles.
