For the first time in camp during the media session, the receivers worked with the quarterbacks as opposed to just the tight ends and backs. The positions worked with all types of routes including slants and crossing routes. The big thing was that both contenders for the starting quarterback gig, Nick Starkel and Kellen Mond, were able to set themselves and deliver the ball accurately while the wideouts were on the move. The receivers didn’t have to stop or adjust themselves to get the ball. They still have to do it in front of 100,000 people but it’s a good sign. Moreover, the receivers’ ability to plant and break to the ball was very good.

Regarding the quarterbacks, Mond sets up a little bit quicker than Starkel but the ball comes out a little quicker with Starkel. Both have gotten better at holding the ball about chest high in their drop and Starkel is a little more consistent about turning into his throws. Otherwise, there’s not much to choose from between the two.

So they've admittedly 12 players on the first team defense. No 3rd team and only 10 on 4th team. Huh...

He has a quick first step and in high school used it to shoot the gap. He also anticipated snap counts often. In college he never learned to use his hands at all.

So, I’d say lazy more than bad, but also possibly poor coaching.

Calling a shot. On the first series vs. Clemson he will beat the snap count,  shoot the gap and make a tackle in the backfield. He will not be seen after that.

Don't be silly. He'll be heard from on every 3rd and short, when he thinks he has the snap count, but jumps maybe three seconds  before the snap.

I'd be curious to see their two deep with the following listed next to their names:

Who is a walk on or former walk on

Who is injury prone and will likely end up injured at some point

Who is playing out of position

Who is a true freshman

The true freshmen suck, but they're laying the foundation of a SEC Championship team. - Tarp (probably)

The more of these updates I see the more I think Arky Chad will beat them and send them into an epic meltdown.  Clemson and Bama' will have them beat up and more than likely a few injuries (already no Clemons).  Chad will go Wake Forest on Renfro and those Safety's.  Chief will attack that pathetic OL.  Aggy doesn't have Kirk or Watts to bail them out this year.

Arky Chad is a really strong X and O's coach, Jimbo is going to do more than wear boots, make ironic marriage analogies, and accept blank championship plaques to win that one. Not to mention Arky Chad has passed over for the TAMU job and has declared a fatwa on Aggy.

But that fat fucking fuck Bert left Chad with two sevens, and two sevens really doesn’t beat a frush.

Keke moving to DE isn't surprising. Like I said yesterday, no clue why aggy wasn't more active on the grad transfer market. They needed bodies at defensive end.

You can tell from reading Tarp's comments that Max Wright, Tyree Johnson and Martin are nowhere close to being contributors.

Their only other option after their starters (Durham and Clemons) is Ondario Robinson who is a RS FR and never played a snap.

Notable movement:

Baylor Cupp is now in the top 10.

Lewis Cine makes his debut at 11.

Bobby Wolfe actually drops a few spots, surprisingly.

Jeffery Carter jumps up 6 spots. Of course, he committed to A&M in July.

Marcel Brooks jumps up 11 (!) spots. They must feel confident about flipping him.

Javonne Shepherd drops 9 spots after committing to Texas.

He manages to drop Roschon even lower, to 28 (previously 22). The sad part is that's still much more reasonable than the idiots at 247, who have him at 41st in the state.

Josh Ellison and Mowry have also dropped a few places #fairness

Trejan Bridges moved up 19 spots, to 22.

Marcus Banks drops to 35 (previously 27). The interesting thing here is that LSU had already won the auction recruiting battle for Banks by the time Liucci's previous rankings had been released.

Jalen Catalon dropped 8 spots to 36. That probably means you can put him in the UT calculator.

Gbenda dropped out completely (from 36). Also calculator.

Somehow, those aren't even the most egregious movements from the 31-40 range. No, that distinction belongs to the placement of Branson Bragg at 37, one spot above A&M commit Layden Robinson.

Of course, Caldwell fell 8 spots to take up the last spot in the 44. To be honest, I'm surprised Billy kept him in there at all.

Is there a place where you can view each iteration of his list?

I'd like to do some stats on it to see the bias for/against certain teams and how it is compared to 247

E: I'd want to do the 2018 class first if there's a list of his rankings for that class

Bill Connelly previewed A&M today: https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/8/6/17573446/texas-am-football-2018-preview-schedule-roster

There's enough in there to convince themselves that there's good reason if they don't impress this year, while keeping the roller coaster going up for next year.

Quote

By the end of the first month, Fisher will have faced perhaps the country’s two national title favorites in Clemson (at home on September 7) and Alabama (in Tuscaloosa on September 21). The schedule eases up afterward, as he only has to face S&P+ projected No. 5 Auburn and No. 14 Mississippi State on the road and No. 16 LSU and No. 25 Ole Miss at home in the final two months.

If nothing else, the schedule should keep expectations tamped down. The Aggies could still be pretty successful — they are projected 24th because of high returning production and solid recruiting, and there are five opponents projected 52nd or worse — and S&P+ projects them likely to win around seven games, while eight isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Come close to that, return most of your offense in 2019, and let expectations grow from there.

Fisher would have to produce SEC titles and national title contention to live up to his gaudy contract, and I’m not sure he’ll get there. But give him a couple of years to mold this still-young roster and add his own blue-chippers, and he should give the SEC West another pretty awesome program.
