  1. for the sake of argument, let's use joe pesci's character (nicki) in casino as the example. he was a big sports bettor. when he won, he would go collect. when he lost, he would tell the bookies to go fuck themselves. what were they gonna do, muscle nicki? nicki was the muscle. nicki was able to do whatever he wanted outside the law, and there were no consequences. presidents for a century have turned over their tax returns. trump, can you do this please? yeah, i will when i feel like it. he still hasn't. when he gets asked, he basically tells congress to go fuck themselves. when they subpoena the banks, he sues the banks. he pushes back and does whatever he wants and strong-arms everyone and gets away with it. when congress is investigating obstruction, he sues and fights every subpoena. he tells anyone and everyone on his side (even ex-employees) not to go testify. "we're gonna fight every subpoena." congress exists as a check on the executive branch, and he is completely circumventing that structure to do whatever he wants with no check - sounds pretty much like a gangster operating outside the law to me. he wants all his people to fall in line and be puppets for him, much like a mafia boss. when they don't, they get "whacked" (fired). close to 500 people have been fired/quit/forced to quit in 2.5 years. he threatens, he coerces, he bribes, he leans on people - until he gets what he wants. it's the same shit he's been doing in the real estate business in new york for decades, but there it's sort of expected, if not completely "legal" - at least it's sorta part of the process. not in washington. when the president appoints cabinet posts or other high offices in his administration, they are supposed to be confirmed by one of the other branches. he makes them all "acting" so they don't need to ever get confirmed. again, going around the process set up by either the constitution or whatever documents are in place to keep a check on the executive. doing whatever he needs to do to keep everyone in line, but not subject to any oversight. i could go on, but i don't think i should have to.

  8. I hope you're right, but I think that the Dems have already wasted the opportunity to set the narrative. They had one chance to tell the public what they thought the Mueller report meant, and for most it was "let's investigate further" and other mixed messages. The right answer was "this is outrageous proof of corruption and criminality by the president and we are launching impeachment hearings immediately." They could back off later, but that initial response is critical to communicating the big takeaway to a public that will largely not read the report. If the situations were reversed, Republicans would have done exactly that to President Hillary. Hell, they are practically doing that now, and she's a private citizen who wasn't even implicated in any way by the Mueller report. I predicted last week that the Dems' weak response would lead to a Trump bump in the polls, and I saw yesterday that CNN has Trump hitting his highest approval since April 2017. That should not be happening the week after such damning evidence was released, and it speaks to the Dems' political malpractice, IMO.

  13. Once again cancer can go fuck itself with a rusty sword. A good friend's 2 year old son was taken to the ER yesterday morning because he couldn't sleep, wouldn't eat or drink anything and couldn't use his leg. Turns out the little guy has a tumor on his brain stem. Was rushed to Cook's Childrens Hospital in Fort Worth last night. He is already in surgery this morning. So that tumor can go fuck itself. That shit shouldn't happen to a fun 2 year old kid who plays with my son all of the time. Sorry for my mini rant here just wanted to say fuck you on this matter. P.S. if anyone knows a good florist/gift shop in that area please let me know so I can send the kid a little something.

  15. Fuck cancer 1000%. My 2 yr old nephew was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April 2018. We took in my nieces so my sister and BIL could stay at the hospital with him for the first 36 days of treatment. Flowers were great and all but they got sick of hospital food quick so gift cards to places that deliver nearby or just bringing up homemade meals was huge. My advice is to stay as positive as you can around them. There were a few occasions they moved my nephew to ICU and it got pretty dicey but he pulled through like a champ and has been in remission since March of this year. Just be the best support system for them that you can be.

  17. Look, no one is saying the episode was without flaws, and that the writing hasn't been as tight as HBO attempts to cram two season's of content into six episodes. It's just that fans of the show don't like to constantly read negative shit about something they love. It's not your opinions that are the problem. It's how you present them. You completely ignore all the good things and only focus on what you didn't like, as though there were no redeeming qualities in the episode at all. And then you repeat it, and repeat it, and repeat it, and repeat it, and act like we only aren't agreeing with you because it is you. Are you able to keep a straight face when you call out other posters for being intolerant of differing opinions? You are Steven A Smith. There can be a lot of truth in the things you say, but the message gets completely lost in the delivery, and I'm switching over to the tampon commercial on Lifetime rather than listening to that shit. Let me put it another way. Pretend Game of Thrones is Rick Barnes.

  21. Oh God you have no idea how much that shit infuriates me. Whoever came up with that method of verification needs to be publicly stoned then crucified. Half the time when that comes up I just decide "yeah I didn't really need to log into that site anyway, fuck this" And the only reason it's a thing is because they use it to crowdsource the accuracy of whatever image detection algorithm they are working on. Just like they used captcha to help improve the accuracy of digitally transferring text. I'd almost rather just give them my social security number than play Dora the fucking Explorer and be told I'm a dumbass 3 times before actually getting to log in. "Can you tell me where the stoplights are? Oops! Looks like you missed one! Let's try again!" Fuck you and fuck the idiots that can't practice a modicum of cybersecurity that makes it necessary to have shit like this in the first place.

  22. Woke up today and decided I didn’t want to go to work. Took the boy to daycare and came back home to make breffest. Tacos with eggs, bacon, grilled onions and japs, avocado, cheese and some of that green salsa that comes in a bag at HEB and some refried beans that come in the bag from the meat section at HEB (when it’s open). Pics of both bagged items above. Also having some OJ, coffee from my Old Fart mug, and a bloody Maria because tequila is better than vodka. Gonna catch a matinee showing of avengers end game at 11:30 at west gate cinema. Living the good life today, gentlemen.

  24. What an add that dude was. I've given Nill a lot of shit for the way he's gone about the last few years but damn if he didn't push a bunch of the right buttons this season. What really excites me is that we seem to have some kids that we drafted starting to come with Hintz and a few others. Win or lose here, I'm excited about where this team can go.

  41. I remember when I was a kid, my folks took us on a road trip to the grand canyon with my mom's brother's family (who had a fat fuck son that was my age at the time). This was before the time of cell phones, so when you saw the other vehicle exiting the highway, you did too. Well, after being on the road for at least 600 miles, and having us get off every 100 miles or so to stop at McDonald's because it was all my uncle's kids ate, sure enough there's a McDonald's in the distance and my uncle's blinker turns on just ahead of us. Next words I hear from my dad as my uncle's truck is exiting the highway just ahead of us is "Fuck that fat motherfucker!" and he keeps driving until our destination leaving my uncle's vehicle on the frontage road in the rearview.

  42. The idea that "socialist policies" and capitalism are at odds is simply inconflict with the truth. Good social policies help capitalism function more efficiently and ideally by reducing market inefficiencies and externalities (e.g., reducing information asymmetry, creating recognition of true costs of products/services). The myth that unfettered capitalism is the only true capitalism is a dangerous distortion of the principles at the heart of capitalism. It is not surprising that the uninformed on this board continue to perpetuate that load of shit.
