It is my belief that OU will ... take a step back (what else were you expecting me to type?) in 2019. We're so used to seeing them defy losses and hold alpha position in the league that that may sound absurd, but it's not as farfetched as it sounds. ”But closetojumping, their offense has transmogrified into a fuckdragon unleashed from the depths of hell?!!? I’m so scared, hold me, bro!” OU lost 4 stand-out OL starters from last year’s team. Replacing the 4 OL stars is not something that can just be poo-poo'd away. They have a stud OL coach, so it won't be the end of the world, and Humphrey is, while overrated, still excellent at a key spot in C. So I don't think the OL will suck, but it won't be anything close to elite. Several of the projected starters are guys that Texas and numerous other programs actually passed on. They no longer have Vomit Schmidt gearing them up for play. No sir, enter a one Benny The Body Wiley and his irrelevant training tactics for OL.We'll see those effects in full regalia in Year 3 of his reign. At QB, Hurts does not enable the utilization of the full offensive playbook. He’s not going to be the savior of their program that Kyler Murray turned out to be. They were frustrated by Hurts’ limitations in the spring. He's not an above average passer. He's good on his feet, but he's not elite. They can weave him into the running game, but there's significant risk in doing so, and they have a stable of good backs. His running utility will be limited to mostly off-schedule runs behind a disorganized OL. Should OU lose Hurts in a tragic scenario where one of his teammates drunkenly beats him into a coma, cuts his neck open with a screwdriver, or breaks his jaw thinking he's a woman, and he goes down for a month or more, Tanner Mordecai is the replacement and he’s as prepared as okie high school students are for future life success. Spencer Rattler could ultimately be the man, but he’d have to lay off fucking janitors in his high school bathroom first, and put down the weed second. They have elite WRs and Calcaterra is terrific, but no one can plausibly argue that losing Hollywood Brown won't slow them down at least some. Charleston Rambo is basically serviceable. I’m interested to see how quickly Wease, Bridges or Haselwood can make an impact. This is an elite team strength even with the loss of Brown. At TB, Brooks, Sermon and Pledger are all good to great, but they’re not elite, gamechanging players. They won’t have the Mack Truck-sized holes to run through this season, either. TB is a team strength, but it’s not a differentiator that they can rely on to take over games. Riley is an offensive wizard, so I agree, they won't fall too far. I see them in the #15-20 range if Hurts is terrific and #30 if he sucks. “Now come on, CTJ, Alex Grinch is an acclaimed defensive guru! You know the OU defense is going to wake up and play like it’s 2001 this season!” Defensively, Grinch thinks they have a bunch of pussies and dead weight on the roster. His own players don't like him. He's unproven as a DC. Yeah, he had a decent year at Wazzou during a down cycle for the Pac 12. He's pretty much living off of that. They're hurt on defense by the fact that their practices are geared towards offense and the focus on technique is traded off for repetition of assignment. Doesn't work that way for defenses against game day offenses. This phenomenon hurt(s) Oregon, Wazzou, Tech, Baylor, etc. OU under Riley is no different. The DL is meh. Perkins can straight up play, if he's healthy. Gallimore is an overrated pile of shit. He has to be carried or carted off the field at least once per game, sometimes 2-3 times, only to return later to play the hero role. I cannot remember him actually making a single play. But hey, he's big and experienced, and he plays for the vaunted OU brand, so let's line that pussy up as a preseason All Big 12 guy on the DL. Right. The other starter is a dude named Mann. He’s literally JAM. At LB, Murray is fine on the LB side. I know he had like 50 tackles against Army. They count tackles even when the TB stumbles down as he runs over you. Outside of that game, Murray was good but nothing special. He's all they have worth thinking about until Deshaun White shows that he can make a play. The secondary is lukewarm scrotum sweat. If Grinch could take the Texas back-up secondary and trade it right now with the starting personnel in OU's secondary, he'd do it faster than Bookie Radley-Hiles could shit himself in panic having to cover Collin Johnson again. Fuck, Grinch is telling recruits that kind of stupid shit as we debate things here. There is not a single player on OU’s roster in the secondary that would make the two deep at Texas. I expect OU to finish with one of the worst defenses in the conference, again. Sure, some of the guys are a year older, but does that make someone who sucks actually improve? Did Breckyn Hager or Naashon Hughes suddenly show up with a clue as seniors? Why, with worse coaching, would we expect more from the OU defense this year? “closetojumping, you jinxing hillbilly, the personnel doesn’t matter when OU is playing one of the easiest schedules this side of the SEC & ACC eunuch-level scheduling shit!?!?” OU has a backloaded schedule. UH South Dakota @UCLA Tech @KU UT – neutral WVU @KSU ISU @Baylor TCU @Okie State They play a fucking FCS school in week 2, which is shameful and a fucking embarrassment. They don’t play back to back road games, of course, helped by not having to do that in the conference since 2013, which is unbridled favoritism by the bureaucrats in the Big 12 home office. UCLA is the big non-conference match-up and they're going to suck. They close out ISU, at Baylor, TCU, and at OSU. Obviously Mike Gundy will shit himself in fear and choke Bedlam away the way he does every year. He’s a man, until he plays OU. Here's hoping he calls in sick that day and Okie State actually makes an appearance in the game as though they give a flying fuck. My bet is that OU goes 9-3 with losses to Texas and then 2 of the final 4 games. Could they slip to 8-4/7-5 before a bowl? Sure. They don't have much margin for error on offense. If Hurts is off, so are all of the bets. The defense isn't saving them from jack shit. Thoughts?24 points

Wrong. We want ou to wander the desert for 10 years like we did and trophy stack. I don't have any conference love but if you're going to wish them in ours, have it be corn or kstate or something. Anything that benefits ou hurts us in some form or fashion.12 points

Can’t believe I have to wait 3 extra days before deciding whether CTJ is criminally underrated or a 3-star that I’m glad went elsewhere.11 points

Pretty amazing that this generational talent is playing 5A Texas high school football, yet Texas and Oklahoma and LSU and Alabama and Clemson and Georgia and Ohio State and USC and Notre Dame and Michigan and Arkansas and Auburn and Florida and Tennessee and Florida State and Ole Miss and Kentucky and Baylor and TCU and Oklahoma State and Stanford and Washington and Oregon and Washington State and Penn State and UCLA and Arizona State and Colorado and Missouri and South Carolina and Virginia Tech and Mississippi State and Miami and Michigan State all seemed to misevaluate him.11 points

Oh for fuck’s sake pull yourself together. Pull yourself up by your pussy flaps, slap your face a couple times and yell into the mirror some Jack Handy/Tony Robbins bullshit. A chunk of the guys who will be stacking that depth chart will be drafted by the time dude is a RS freshman. That’s 2 of your 3, with the last one possibly also gone after this season as well.10 points

"American Exceptionalism" is idiocy. It's nothing but a shield against any introspection or improvement. It's as if I practiced "Brisket Physical Perfectionism" -- I'm GORGEOUS. There's not a SINGLE THING ABOUT ME THAT'S NOT THE MOST PERFECT EVER. And if you criticize me, you're just a hater, and you should go back where you came from or something.* * All of which shields Brisket from trying to lose 50 lbs, dressing better, finally getting a decent haircut, realizing he's getting older so he ought to take care of his skin, too, etc. Leaving Brisket to be the plain-looking fella that he ACTUALLY is. And what's worse, it's a recipe for Brisket to get even uglier as time goes by. America is just getting shittier, and it's in no small part because people who insist that we're fucking perfect, so how dare we actually look critically at ourselves to see how we can improve?9 points

That’s not it. At least, that’s not the case for a large chunk of these folks. The Trumpers in my family have your garden variety rural prejudices, but they’re far from white supremacists and are very open and loving to several non-white in-laws. They’re not racists. It’s hard to explain, but Trump has become just another cheap knickknack in the pantheon of tacky midwestern culture. He’s the new Fat Elvis.7 points

Shouldn't happen. I'll also argue that they fit well in the level below blue blood. They've won a title more recently than Georgia (by a decade+), Notre Dame, or Penn State. They've obviously done more than ATM, Arkansas, or Oregon over the last 50 years. This reflects the fact that either you're very young or you lack perspective, and probably both. Washington is a historically esteemed program. Tyrone Willingham and Rick Neuheisel tumbled them down into the toilet starting about 15 years ago, but they've been a respected program for 100 years. DKR was poached from there. They won/split a MNC in 1991 with ... Miami? I don't remember. Miami/Ga Tech/Colorado (5th fucking down ripoff game be damned)/UW split titles in 1990 and 1991. Don James was a CFB icon before being run off for rampant cheating. Meanwhile, BSU was a fucking FCS school until like 20/25 years ago and has no legitimate history of anything other than being a flash in the pan. I'd fucking love to do a home and home with UW and anyone who's spent time in Seattle would agree. On top of it all, they're not cheating under Petersen. They're well-coached and they do it right. Academically, the two schools are also aligned. I think it would be fucking awesome to play them early in November in Austin some year and play them in Seattle in September the year before or after that.7 points

As a Sooner fan, I have to agree concerning our defense. I think you were too generous with LB Murray...he's not fine. Watch the Big XII title game again and just focus on him. It's embarrassing...I don't know how you fix that. It's really hard to watch. I don't think our secondary is as bad as lukewarm scrotum sweat. Don't get me wrong; they're bad, but our front 7 didn't do them any favors. I think Tre' Brown would be a decent player on a real defense. He sure enjoyed the Big XII title game. I thought OU's offense would take a big step back last year...If you would have told me that the Sooners lose QB Mayfield, TE Mark Andrews, and RB Rodney Anderson and still average the most yards per play (10.4) in the history of CFB, I wouldn't have believed you. So, I will defer to Riley's prowess even though I really think they HAVE to come down a little this year due to the O-line. As far as predictions, I don't think anyone gets through the schedule unscathed...my best bet is a 3 way tie with OU, TX and ISU having 2 losses each. Something like that,...should be fun.6 points

Normally I’d agree, but fuck that. They need to suck for a while and stop adding trophies. We sucked for a while snd I’m sure it still meant plenty to them.6 points

Yep. Spray the whole thing down with equivalent filth -- even dabble in racism. Let some independent PAC's target and bombard Kentucky bumpkins with bigotry. "Why would we let Mitch's pan-faced, almond-eyed, Spock haircut, zipper head wife get her slanty Chi-Comm family rich on our watch? Let's buy that red gook a plane ticket back to her own country." When the DNC gets chided for cheap prejudice they can just shrug and say "I know, it's repulsive behavior. We're very concerned. We should go scorched earth on whatever asshole won't allow a vote on this disgusting dark money into the Senate. Thoughts and prayers. We agree. Calling Mitch's wife a dirty, greedy nip who can't drive has no place in our national dialogue. This is beneath us all lol."6 points

I don't know if that is their core platform. I tend to think their core ideology is funnel money into the elite's hands by any means necessary. Racism is just what they are using to get votes.6 points

He absolutely believes it. He's been consistently pro tariff his whole life. Remember back when you were in high school and somebody would say "We should make that here, let's put a tariff on Honda's so people will buy Chevy's and save jobs!" and it sorta made sense? Then you went to college and took Macroeconomics 101 and had the "Oh, duh, that's why tariffs are stupid!" moment? Trump is that guy in high school. He never grew out of that phase and he's too stupid to learn. Unfortunately, a bunch of cold war era laws meant to give the president the ability to fight the communists via trade sanctions if necessary have been perverted by the WH.5 points

Wait... let's recap. Since 2002, Texas has won a national championship, played for another one, won a rose, sugar and fiesta bowl, had multiple Heisman finalists, multiple Thorpe award winners, a 2,000 yard rusher, and a true sophomore QB go for 41 total touchdowns to 5 picks. And this is including probably the worst 8 year stretch in program history. But Texas is delusional. Right, aggy.5 points

Karla Faye Tucker, to this day I am disgusted by that execution. She was executed for political gain and nothing more. Yeah Trump is a greasy turd that smells like a dead goat thats been fermenting in Mangino's ass all summer but Bush was a fucking butcher. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed or maimed because of his political ambitions. Fuck, fuck, fuck that guy.5 points
