As one of the few objective centrists on this political board (who even votes for Republicans periodically), I feel compelled to tell you that your post is complete shit. Objectively looking at all of the evidence that has been compiled over the last ten years indicates that the Republicans have conducted themselves in a shameful manner that created this Cold War between the parties. From unfair attacks on Obama, stalemates during his presidency, fake Fox News, to the improper stoppage of a Supreme Court nominee, the Republicans have demonstrated over and over that they have far less integrity than the Democratic party. The behavior of Trump by every measure imaginable is disgraceful and embarrassing, and yet the Republican Party has stood by and let it all happen. Shame on you. Shame on every other idiot like you that continues to support this crooked political organization. And since so many Republicans believe in God, then maybe justice will be served when you all burn in hell.11 points

First hit I was on the field coaching soccer. My goalie came up and told me there was some big news. I reminded her that a B-17 hit a the Empire State Building in WW2. Walked into my class and saw the second hit. Got in trouble for showing live TV. Quit teaching and in 2002 I was in Helmand. Spent the better part of 8 years in and out of Afghanistan. This is our Pearl Harbor, but there is not simple way out. God Bless those we lost that day and those who fought. Both American and our Afghan Allies.10 points

It ends when you die. Both politically and corporeally. This "Political Cold War" is the death rattle of a failed generation that was given everything and never contributed a thing. Only when you are dead are we going to be able to promulgate the reforms needed to fix our democracy. In other words, fuck off, donut boy.9 points

This is how you need to keep rolling, Longhorn94. I think recruiting prognostications from you and big game predictions from me have set Texas football back by at least 3 decades since 2009.7 points

I say: War. As in civil war. As in the Republican party is completely eliminated as an organization, and DOTARD, his administration, Turtle fuckface, Graham, and all the grifters, enablers, apologists, and donut bringers are either executed for treason or serving life in prison. Then we start at the top (Gorsuch and Kavano-means-yes) and work our way down (the POS immigration judge who threatened to sick his dog on a two year old immigrant), impeaching every mother fucker DOTARD appointed and the Senate "confirmed". It is too late for "bipartisanship". It is too late for "peace". One does not negotiate with terrorists or traitors. You, Tahoe, do not get to support a lying, traitorous, senile bigot, claim the other side is acting like an "ass", and expect anything less than scorn, derision, hate, or a "fuck you" reply to anything you post. Until the GOP is completely destroyed and utterly rejected-- war. Until DOTARD and his cabinet are executed or in prison- war. tldr: DIAF you POS.7 points

a lot of the dipshits in the dipshit parts of the country wouldn't be dipshits if they were exposed first hand to different types of people and cultures (even within our own borders), rather than sitting in Applebees surrounded by dipshits living dipshit lives talking about dipshit things7 points

Here is a real problem in Tahoe's discussion: when he talks about the "majority," he's talking about the Senate majority. But that is not representative of the majority of Americans. The majority of Americans voted Democratic. Three million more Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than voted for Donald Trump. And yet when the Senate minority--which actually represents the will of the majority of Americans--doesn't acquiesce to this Administration's incompetence, immorality, and abuse of power, they're being "dicks" and "assholes." Take that horseshit to the Fuckville County Trumpkin Party meeting along with a box of donuts, fuckface.7 points

In an attempt to discourage people from going into a degenerate spiral into the darkness that is Cloak Room we are going to start running ads ONLY in cloak room and it's threads regardless if you are a member or not. Treefiddy peeps will never see ads ever, these ads are actually going to be treated like a totally different site and will most likely be political in nature. Please help yourself and stop posting there.6 points

I actually want to see him have a good year this season so they'll slap a 10-year, $100M extension on to the end of his current contract.6 points

I'm sure it happens to everyone on this thread, but it drives me crazy when my wife asks me a question, I answer, then she continues to ask/explain the question. <I walk out of laundry room after grabbing some batteries> Her: Are you using the washer? Me: No Her: Because I need to wash the sheets Me: I said I'm not using it Her: The sheets need to be washed because the dog jumped in the pool and I didn't notice and when I let him in he ran and jumped on the bed and now the <I walk out of room> sheets are all wet and I need to wash them. Do you think it's too hot for the dogs outside? Should I get them a fan for outside? I think there is a fan on sale at Target, I'll go tomorrow. Oh!, you'll never guess who I ran into at Target the other day......6 points

I've told this before, but well... All of the NFL and college games were canceled that next weekend. TxHS Football was not. We went down to New Braunfels and saw them play Seguin. They handed out American flags printed on newpapers when everyone came in. At halftime, both bands just walked out on the field and started playing SSB and America the Beautiful and songs like that together. Everyone stood and sang along and held up the flags. My daughter was 2, so I was holding her. "Daddy, why is everyone singing?" "Because these are special songs." <long pause> "Are they for the buildings that fell down?" "Yes." I tried not to cry, but then looked around and everyone was crying.6 points

See above. He was aggy, until aggy aggy'd it up. Also, while this isn't a sad moment, per se, it is worth speaking well enough of the dead to at least say I'm glad he made the Big XII more interesting, because he certainly did. Oklahoma State not sucking most of the time has made for some quality competition. I have hated every single loss to the pokes ever, in any sport, but it's better than being in a conference with aggy by a long country mile.5 points

Powerful moment New Zealand firefighters honour 9/11 first responders with a stirring haka on the 18th anniversary https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7452831/New-Zealand-firefighters-honour-responders-9-11-terror-attacks-stirring-haka.html5 points

My daughter brought her college boyfriend back to Texas for the first time last Christmas. He's from NYC. She took him down to the Alamo. Afterwards, I asked him about it and he seemed relatively unimpressed. Me: "You know those NYC firefighters on 9/11?" Him: "Of course." Me: "That statue in front of the Alamo is our state's version of those guys." His eyes got big and he nodded his head. "OK, I get it."5 points

Go fetch a few dozen glazed and go hang out with the boys and celebrate that massive North Carolina special election win from last night, then sit around and bitch about the NFL and how those uppity negros just aren't American enough for your tastes. You and your ilk are what's wrong with America. Full stop. I got mine, fuck everyone else should be tattooed on your lily white forehead.5 points

In 2001 I worked on the 9th floor of 301 Congress, 6 floors above the Bush 2000 campaign HQ, and they were still very much in operation, winding down from the campaign in September. So we were conscious that our building was a potential target. It closed around lunchtime on 9/11 and I seem to recall that it was closed for a couple days, but it may be that I just chose to work from home. At any rate, eventually we came back and things quickly returned to something like normal. Somewhere in the neighborhood of September 20th the fire alarms in the building went off, and people egressed to the stairs. I was in a boot for a stress fracture at the time and moving slow, and was amazed that not only were people not rushing or pressing in the stairwells, but there were people stopped in nearly every landing keeping order and assisting in an orderly exit. And as I went down, at least 20 people offered to carry all 250 pounds of me down the stairs. I’ll never forget it. I read this every year on 9/11. You should too. http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2002/02/11/the-real-heroes-are-dead5 points

I can never forget it. Even if I tried. After the first tower fell I rushed into my reserve center and spent the rest of the day in a flak vest with live rounds in my rifle. In my own country. We had no way of knowing whether it was an isolated event or the beginning of an all out assault from within. I know it sounds silly now, but at the time we just had no way of knowing. I remember it clearly as being the first time that I could NOT say to anyone, with ANY certainty at all, that I would be alive when the sun came up the next day. I remember making all the calls to coordinate with the local police and sheriff departments and other reserve/guard units in my area regarding area security. I remember pausing for a few moments afterwards and calling my mom afterwards to let her know I was all right. I remember clearly telling her I loved her and my voice shaking just a little bit as I hung up, and hoping she didn't notice it. And I remember crying after I hung up, because I knew at the time that there was something greater than a zero percent chance that I would never be able to speak to her again. I remember September 11th as the first day of no longer being a child. I miss September 10th.5 points
