  3. i get that it's surly and bitching about shit is what we perfect. was it cheesy? fuck yea. was it awesome? fuck yea. it was an hour long University of Texas infomercial. fallon could've chosen any campus to kick off this campus tour thing. he and the show chose the University of Texas. they kept it safe and formulaic by keeping to Texas cliches and UT homerism. FUCK YEA. and we got to shit on OU and aggy knowing that blowu or aggy will never get an opportunity for any show to come to their campus. there was absolutely nothing bad about that show. the university is elite. fallon and the tonight show again proves it.

  5. Oh....that's FANTASTIC. Let me summarize: Part 1: Lots of people were alarmed by Trump's possible election and then election. [Well, no shit. That's how sane people react when the see the seat of power of the most powerful nation on earth, and our home country, about to be given to a deranged narcissist. Anyone worth a shit thought he was a deranged narcissist LONG before he announced a presidential run.] Part 2: Oh, let's break this one down: False. No transcript has been released. 1) It says right on the document that it's not a verbatim transcript. 2) Testimony of witnesses with knowledge of the call says that significant portions of the conversation were omitted. First problem: straw man. While the issue of the quid pro quo creates an ADDITIONAL crime, the initial crime is the mere solicitation of foreign assistance with a campaign issue. So, she's over there attacking one issue (poorly -- we'll get to that) in order to distract from another. Second problem: if the standard for convicting someone for bribery is "he has to say 'I hereby want to BRIBE you by offering you THIS MONEY RIGHT HERE in exchange for FAVOR X," then there would be zero bribery convictions in US history. Instead, there are many such convictions. And they are based on conduct EXACTLY like what we see reflected in the document discussing the call. Zelensky's part: I would also like to thank you for your great support in the area of defense. We are ready to continue to cooperate for the next steps specifically we are almost ready to buy more Javelins from the United States for defense purposes. Trump's response: I would like you to do us a favor though [I'm pausing here, because note the word "though" -- that is a conditional word. It has meaning. It connects this part of the exchange with what Zelensky said immediately before.] [skipping over the first part, where he discusses the Crowdstrike nonsense] The other thing, There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it... It sounds horrible to me. So, the sequence here -- and remember, this is language team Trump FAVORABLY selected -- is 1) Zelensky says we want to buy weapons, 2) Trump says I want you to do me a favor, THOUGH, and 3) a portion of that favor is to investigate Biden, his primary political rival in the upcoming election. But it's okay, here analysis gets even dumber. The solicitation is the crime. Her argument is the absolutely ludicrous position that soliciting a bribe isn't a crime if the other party doesn't actually end up paying. This is how these simpletons think, folks. Oh, and nevermind that the testimony since -- which she ignores, as the entire Trump defense strategy requires -- indicates that Trump wasn't even asking for an actual investigation of Biden. He just wanted a public ANNOUNCEMENT of such investigation. Which of course has zero anti-corruption value, but complete political campaign value. Wait, maybe she wants to pivot later to an argument that "well, anything Rudy was doing was on his own, the president didn't know." I hope she does. She's a twit doing nothing more than continued deflection, zero discussion of actual facts, and pathetic misstatements of law and logic that simply expose her as a drooling simpleton. So, in that respect, I can see why the Trumpkins adore her as one of their own. "She talks like us!"

  10. Mentioned before in threads past and I will again: men's Thanksgiving get together. A friends dad started this over 40 years ago and we continue the tradition. Martini Matinee starts at 10a and ends at 11a SHARP. There is vodka and gin. No beer, no wine, no anything else. Of course olives and onions, but basically it is gin/vodka over ice in a pewter cup. Coat and tie is mandatory. No women allowed, even if the hosting house is cooking dinner, she isnt allowed to come out. That's how you East Texas, bitches.

  20. So like Mac was saying, we got to meet up and see Big Boy roll north from downtown. I was disappointed that it started to rain and I didn't take the chance of flying my drone in the rain. I'll post an image from the drone that I had hoped would be similar to what I wanted to get with Big Boy. I am still just "so-so" on the photos I got. I have edited these two, one for perspective and one a bit more of a close up. Because of the overcast weather, I think black and white looks best. I regret not driving out to the Pecos bridge.

  21. Has anybody asked Lindsey Graham "Senator, in 2016 you said that the President was 'not fit to be President of the United States" and "Any doubt left Trump is completely unhinged?' What has he done since then to make you change your mind about him?"

  22. When he finishes rambling have another reporter ask the same question. And then do it again. And again. If he continues to flounder, let him flounder. It speaks for itself. When Trump babbles and shifts the terms don't fucking follow him there. There is no problem. If he wants to trail off, let him and let the problem be his problem. People giving the press pool a pass by acting like Trump is an impossible mind wizard is the problem. The hilarious simplicity is to continue to insist that he answer a question. When he evades, tell him. Then ask it again. These eunuchs in the press pool deserve no sympathy and I don't understand why people feel compelled to provide excuses for them. They're failing at a fairly simple task. If the excuse for that failure of a simple task is that they got caught in the wind from a simpleton, then they aren't suited for the job. The current status quo among the White House Press is an exclusive cocktail party of halfwits. Fire them. This shit is important.

  24. Trump's display this morning in front of the press pool was the typical lunacy and gibberish, but what a failure by the reporters standing there. There are about 5 key questions that would be impossible for Trump to answer right now and they go with bullshit like "Are you concerned about any of the testimony in the impeachment trial?" That type of broad and generic laziness is what allows him to filibuster into inane, nonstop jabbering that dovetails into "... but we're making billions off of China." After that idiotic appearance, the knob reporter on MSNBC summed it up with "he called Michael Bloomberg 'Little Michael' and the President said he's not concerned about any of the testimony given so far." Bravo. Show some poise and do your fucking jobs. Trump basically rolled a ball of yarn in front of a bunch of kittens and their eyes darted with excitement. It's fucking amateur hour out there.

  25. The show was terrific marketing. Give the persons who made it happen a big raise. That said, I thought McConaughey's act last night was dumb. Does anyone not a UT fan get into his schtick? The New Age Joel Osteenesque Ministry of Culture bit doesn't work, just gets a 'Whatever' shrug from non-fans. I could almost hear remotes changing the channel as he droned on. Do we not have any other celebs we can mix in as Longhorn icons, he's way overexposed now. A little goes a long way.

  29. If this stink gets bad enough, and it may already be, there might not be anything anyone can do. If the economy stalls even further over the next 12 months Trump will probably have no chance. We've gotten into the rut of electing republicans who get us into wars or foreign issues while allowing major corporations/banks to tank the American economy with shady practices then electing democrats to get us out of it. Then when we're out the republicans get elected once again. Time to go straight D for about a 16 to 20 year span and see where that gets us. Can't be worse than the garbage the republicans have gotten us into in the last 39 years.

  34. To be fair, reporters have an incentive not to push too far. Their attendance at the press conference is often a matter of the speaker’s consent or invitation. But at this point, fuck it. No press conferences would be better than these bullshit softball sessions where Trump just gets to spew his propaganda without any pushback. The status quo grants an appearance of legitimacy to his views that is completely unwarranted under any objective standard.

  36. 1) I think it's rather likely that Reed is guilty of this crime. 2) He's certainly guilty of several other heinous crimes, and should not be free to walk the streets, even if this particular conviction ends up overturned. 3) The process is important -- perhaps even more important when it comes to the guilty than when it comes to the innocent. Thus, I have problems with the fact that the state continues to oppose DNA testing of evidence, almost universally and uniformly. The job of the prosecution is not to get convictions, but to ensure that justice is done. That means examining all of the evidence. Test the evidence. I doubt it will make any difference. I also strongly doubt that it will be exculpatory to a level that would raise reasonable doubt to justify overturning his conviction. But evidence should be tested. The process requires knowledge of knowable facts.

  40. For those who didn't see the end. https://www.thedailystampede.com/2019/11/8/20954718/usf-football-embarrassed-at-home-17-7-versus-temple With 2:06 left in the game and two timeouts left, the Bulls (4-5, 2-3 AAC) offense took the field to attempt to score to make it a one-possession game. After an incompletion on first down, redshirt freshman quarterback Jordan McCloud found tight end Mitchell Wilcox for a four-yard gain and was tackled in bounds. Head coach Charlie Strong didn’t call a timeout. On third down McCloud was sacked for the ninth and final time. Still no timeout. When asked about not using the timeout Strong said, well, it doesn’t really make sense what Strong said. See for yourself. “We had it, we felt like that could, you know, get the ball out and then go ahead to move it. I mean, they didn’t, they [the timeouts] don’t have anything to do with them. I mean, you’re down 10, it’s just move the ball.”
