  1. To the guy who said Caden sterns and BJ foster aren’t living up to their potential: I’m convinced had they signed with LSU (who they were recruited heavily by and we beat out to get them here), they’d probably be Thorpe award finalists and first round picks if they had signed there. I’m 100% convinced of that. We waste so much talent, especially in the secondary. I’m tired of it. It’s 100% coaching.

As you continue to ponder hypocrisy, please also refuse to address the following: T-Mobile spending over $195,000 at Trump Hotel while it lobbied for approval of its merger with Sprint, despite never using Trump properties before that date. 4. You make fast players slow by making them think too much or putting them in positions not to take advantage of their speed. Bad tackling can be a result of not practicing tackling, or being out of position and having to try to adjust and tackle from a bad angle. Anyone who watched what Greg Robinson did with Manny Diaz players in literally weeks should know that stud players can look awfully pedestrian under the wrong coaching. Your argument is that all of the stud recruits we land, who generally have offers from elite programs, all just happen to be busts. I don't buy it. It's coaching.

  9. No. No more G5. No more up and comers. Texas needs to drop its gargantuan nuts on the big noon kick off set desk and get UM here NOW to get this shit running right. What we have seen this season, and what we saw today, was an embarrassment. Forget the rest of this season. Make a real play for the next 5-10 years of Texas Goddamn Football and bring in UM.

  10. The years of wandering in the desert may be playing into a lack of interest for UT fans but I have noticed a marked decrease in my own emotional involvement for college football as well, and I’m an alumni and fan of arguably the most successful program of the last decade if not all time. And it’s not just my love of Alabama Football, I have found many of my guilty pleasures and things I loved doing in the past don’t bring me as much joy. I really believe the last four years have been not only damaging to the foundations of our country but have impacted our national psyche. I’m not exaggerating when I say I struggle between knowing I need to keep engaged and informed on the daily, sometimes hourly, horrors this man and his administration has foisted on us and wanting to disengage completely because I find it all so personally depressing and distressing. I can feel my mood sour and my general outlook on my fellow Americans plummet by just watching and listening to him. I go out of my way to not watch or listen to him. I will read a transcript or article instead. I think the past four years, capped off with the changes in normal life brought on by the coronavirus will leave some permanent changes in so many things and we aren’t even conscious of all of it yet.

  12. Board members wouldn't need to know anything about either of those things. He joined the board, ostensibly, to help provide guidance on proper corporate governance. As a Yale trained lawyer, that was right up his alley. Let me give you some examples from other major corporations: ExxonMobil Board of Directors: No oil and gas experience. No oil and gas experience. No oil and gas experience. No oil and gas experience. Shell Oil board of directors: No oil and gas experience. No oil and gas experience. No oil and gas experience. It turns out, the primary qualification for being a board member is having done so before and being able to provide some unique perspective that is valuable to the board, or, you know, being an investor in the company. A well-trained and experienced American lawyer, venture capitalist, and businessman, who also has previous experience serving on the board of directors and board chairman of the World Food Program USA, is exactly the sort of person who is qualified to be a board member.

  14. Nothing impressive, but wife got her first bow kill this morning in Fredericksburg. 25 yard shot, double lunged and ran only about 60 yards. She’s officially hooked on bow hunting. Had three more slightly bigger than this guy show up this evening that she decided to pass on in favor of a big mature doe, but one of the bucks pushed her out right as she drew back on it. One of those guys may regret that tomorrow morning.

  16. These. WTF, white people? That the ACTUAL fuck? Although these numbers pretty much sesl the obvious truth: the Trump movement is entirely a desperate, fearful gambit of a demographic that has run this country unchallenged since its inception, often at the open and direct disadvantage of anyone not part of that demo (all the way across the board, from slavery to the anti-Chinese League, and a million other things), seeing that absolute, unchallenged control slipping away. Obama is what put the fear of God in them (“Kenyan Muslim” we’re just code words for what really terrified them - not a white guy). They are now fighting like a cornered dog, and they have made their intentions (burn it all down) abundantly clear: of they can’t have this country, entirely and exclusively, nobody can. Trump and his support isn’t about policy, or anything more than that. It’s an existential question for them: do white people (men) get to keep running this country exclusively, for their primary benefit, or might some non-white coalition come to power and (here’s the real fear) treat white people even 1/10th as shitty as they’ve treated anyone else? Look at the numbers. Forget policy, the numbers tell us it’s not more complicated than that. Oh, and as for shy educated white people aren’t part of that group so much? Because perspective and experience tell us that there’s more than enough prosperity to go around, and we’ve experienced and seen minority leadership/power sharing, and it’s fine. Hey white people, it’s gonna be ok. Minorities in this country aren’t going to treat you like you treated them.

  18. I just wanted to quote this part and laugh my ass off. Besides there being zero evidence, let’s for a moment pretend it’s true. The Republican Party is accusing someone of lying? And that is somehow a big deal? Holy shit you guys are just too much. It’s just as good as the “intolerant left” accusation thrown out by the resident potato. It’s like a guy with a Heroin addiction trying to shame someone for drinking caffeine. Laughable

  21. You seem to have some confusion between what is journalism, news, gossip, and propaganda/disinformation. Media is such a broad term that it encompasses a lot of real estate. When one says mainstream news, even that is fairly broad because there are citizens who consider Fox to be mainstream news. The cable news networks are specifically high ratings, but lower in credibility. (Fox and CNN, for example, have mediocre rankings for truth in reporting mechanisms.) I rank discussion about the laptop under disinfo/propaganda since it is an old tactic used by foreign and domestic agents in an attempt to influence public opinion prior to an election with little basis in fact. The reason the RNC and/or foreign assets are using Hunter Biden is due to investigation after investigation that have turned up no evidence linked to Joe. His history as a senator and as VP would provide plenty of issues for them to discuss with a factual voting record and or policy decisions. But the Trump campaign chose not to do that. Why? Because it invites the same scrutiny of their own Administration--also covered by factual evidence as well as the noncompliance and lack of transparency over the last four years. Ukraine's investigation of Hunter Biden turned up nothing. Our own DOJ and other agencies have found nothing EXCEPT for the rather revealing information that the former Ukrainian official who was ousted for corruption was the one who was assisting Giuliani and the oligarch who was charged by Bill Barr for peddling influence in a foreign election. Essentially, the very shadow 'diplomat' that was outed during the inquiry of last year is fabricating a story based on a few truths (Hunter Biden received money while on a board of a company, Hunter has a history of an addiction problem, Hunter is the son of a former VP and a presidential candidate--those truths all reported in verified and sourced news outlets) and peddled it to a high volume, low accuracy tabloid and now everyone in the right wing leaning "media" wants to know why no one is reporting on Elvis sightings? Give me a break. I would be happy to engage in a whataboutism with Jared Kushner and his relationship with foreign officials on behalf of the United States or any of the other Trump relatives, but because many of those actions have verifiable facts, you can check any mainstream news agency and read them for yourself.

  22. Haven't posted Kevin in a while. He's still good, still alive, pretty rickety but he's a good boy. We just moved from Austin to Raleigh. Stopped for a few weeks at my folks place in The Woodlands, then loaded up and drove ~1250 miles, stopping near NOLA and Atlanta along the way. Quite a trip for the pups (Sully is the little shithead). Longcat post. It's been an adventure for the pups. Kev resting up in The Woods. Sully gets in the bag whenever we're packing Hitting the road hotel puppies Kev hasn't slept on the bed in a while but was begging up in the hotel. poor little homey (he got up) Little dog shakes before getting in and then spends the drive like this again with wanting to be on the bed in Atlanta road warriors arrived at the temporary apartment we'll be at for a few months crying for their mom to come back but they aren't sure which one is the front door Just an old puppy dogs are great. I was afraid they wouldn't be able to handle keeping their shit together in an apartment, but they seemed to get it pretty quick that this place is finally a bit permanent. I got Kevin as a puppy in early 2009, soon after I finished school. He's been through a lot of shit. He's got arthritis in his back and I have to be careful getting him up the stairs to this apartment. I'm really glad he made it here, really looking forward to getting him into some more permanent digs. Hoping he enjoys the slightly cooler NC weather. This is a whole new chapter in our lives - I'd been with the same employer for 11.5 years, I've lived in Texas my entire life. He was next to me when I got married a couple years back, he's here for the move and the new job excitement, and I'm hoping he'll stick around to see the next little human puppy we're about to bring into the mix.

  23. Of course he wouldn't have been on that board without his name. Look, I despise what aboutism, but there's a good reason the entire U.S. Senate isn't ready to scorch the earth about another senator's undeserved and highly lucrative position to each other's slobbish family members. If you get elected to the Senate your nephew will get his financial knob polished if you're seen being nice to him just once in public. It's shitty. Always has been. And whether you think he deserved it or not, a Georgetown undergrad and Yale law degree holds water. None of us want to know what kind of privileges are being showered upon some of these slapdick morons who just happen to be the grown up cum of some successful politician.

  24. Members of the Board do nothing but expense a shit ton of money galavanting around 4 locations a year to spend a shit ton of money and cheat on their spouses, while having unanimous votes on issues that could have been resolved with a phone call. Hunter Biden has a resume more impressive than 95% of them. But he also did exactly what I typed above.

  28. Yes. What you seem not to understand is that the issue is not just verifiability. The issue is that “all this” as currently laid out, isn’t a coherent story and doesn’t amount to much. That’s why it’s not resonating beyond Republican tribalists. There’s just not enough this in all this.

  29. Lololol.... Trump supporters worried about foreign influence thru the president’s kids while also not know how laughable their concerns are in comparison to the shit bags that were in office for the last 4 years is simply adorable. you obviously and willfully know absolutely nothing about Trump and his boys -which is fine. Just don’t act shocked when people who do couldn’t give a fuck even if this turns out to be true.

  33. This is a bit of a mishmash. For one thing, I have been trying to develop a chili kit, and it's getting close. The model is the historical San Antonio Chili Queens recipe. Beyond that, I have a large family, and typically I'm feeding 6 adults and a child nightly. I have to make concessions and cook in bulk from time to time. So, last week I decided to see if I could braise a pork butt in a manner that would render it a good base for a variety of dishes -- Italian bolognese, Texas Red chili, southern BBQ, Mexican carnitas. I settled on a basic seasoning of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and oregano, as all of those ingredients are fairly common to the dishes I referenced. I figured I could freeze 1.5# - 2# bags of the braised pork and then use them as a base in any number of different ways. Run #1 was today -- Texas Red chili. I thawed 1.5# of my frozen pork base, bloomed 2/3 cup of my chili seasoning in 1/2 cup of grapeseed oil, heated the seasoning slowly in a Dutch oven, added 3 cups of water and the thawed pork, simmered for about 90 minutes while Texas tried to throw the game against Baylor, and voila! (wallah!) I had a pot of porkalicious Texas Red. This is good chili. Ugly, but good. Not being satisfied to just eat a couple of bowls, I made some chili nachos, with shredded block sharp cheddar and fresh pico de gallo. Man, I am full.
