Not to derail, but this plane has my interest. Took a trip from St. Augustine, FL to Austin on Saturday before going over to Los Angeles later that day (specifically to Van Nuys, which is ~15 miles from Fox's studio/Hollywood and known as a go-to airport for celebrities and other discreet travelers). It's scheduled to fly back to Austin tonight. That plane is "blocked," meaning its tail number, owner, etc. are hidden from the public on FlightAware. It's a Dassault Falcon 900 though, which is a $3.5MM+ jet that isn't produced in Camry-like numbers -- the FAA registry shows there are roughly 45 of them registered to TX-based owners (number drops to about 25 total if you only include those in the "blocked" category). Just cherry picking, but one of those blocked F900s is owned by Cardinal Capital Partners, a real estate PE shop in Dallas founded/led by a UT alumnus of the name Gil Besing. Another is owned by a company called Green Longhorn Air LLC. I'm sure some BMDs could probably be unearthed using the FAA registry and Google if one were so inclined.50 points

I have the clown you quoted on ignore, but will respond since he's still swinging from my nuts after all these years, it appears. I don't use socks. @immamac can happily violate my posting "privacy" and confirm as much, if such a thing is possible. I'm CTJ. What the fuck do I need a sock for? I was a 2 on the Tom Herman excitedness scale. Having met and listened to him helped with that ranking immensely. I've been saying this from the beginning, but the guy is a fucking meathead. Where anyone got the notion that he was bright is beyond me. He's as dumb in real life as he appears on tv. Also, fun story about this asshole's obnoxious stupidity since The Hermancipation Is Nigh -- Fuckface and his wife took a booster's plane for a weekend to Mexico or some shit. Boarded the plane drunk as fuck, got into a batshit crazy screaming fight with each other, and the wife attempts to pull the door open at 35,000 feet, which had to be documented in some form for whatever reason. I'm happy to get as shitfaced with my wife on vacation as the next guy, but getting violent and nearly causing the demolition/wreck of some patron's $10+million property in the process? Yeah, you're dumber than a sack of hammers.27 points

I got accepted to UT within a month or 2 of the VY national championship, was there during the Colt years and moved from Austin the summer of 2010. Just accepted a job in Austin and am moving back at the end of the year. I really just wanted to say "you're welcome", and I'm sorry for the last decade.23 points

@immamac I move to make a motion that if Urban Meyer is hired we change @futureman name to fistureman.21 points

Finalized offer went out this afternoon. Dont know for how much and how long. Dude who told me was on a phone call where they discussed it. Up to Urban now but he has basically told us for over a month now he wants the job. Full "alignment" on our end.20 points

Trump lied about covid from the beginning, made fun of people for wearing masks, didn't wear one himself and got covid, held super spreader events around the country, told people to maybe inject bleach, publicly fought with the experts and called Fauci an idiot, and refused to attend covid meetings for the last six months. The idea of giving him any credit for anything is absurd.19 points

This is playing out how we’d all want it to up to this point. Meyer has an offer that needs no further negotiation on either end. He either wants to do this again or he doesn’t. We’ll know soon. Meyer gets off on the talent acquisition end, so the early signing day and this class overall is a big deal for his beginning. If he takes the job, this won’t be drawn out much further.18 points

Chips article is cover for CDC so that it doesn’t look like BMD’s are running the athletic department. CDC will be the one to make the decision and the BMDs will respect whatever decision CDC makes so long as he fires Herman and hires Urban.17 points

Guys I'm not sure we want Urban. I ran into Urban at HEB just now. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.16 points

Burton-Monday Eric will be posting an accumulation of news and notes in the The Scoop later this morning that I feel closely monitors the pulse of the coaching situation, so I'm going to use this column as an opportunity to go in a slightly different direction. ** The attitude of those in charge at Texas has never - and I mean never - been more together in their drive to bring home a single coach. Ever. This is different than Texas' courtship of Nick Saban, where some big money donors led the process without the explicit clearance and understanding of all key members of the athletic department and administration. It's also clearly at odds with the bizarre outsourcing selection of Charlie Strong that only Steve Patterson could oversee, or the whirlwind, shotgun marriage that led the Horns to Tom Herman, a hand forced somewhat by the timing of another suitor (LSU). Heck, it's even vastly different than when the Horns landed Mack Brown. After all, some key members of the Texas admin and athletic director favored Northwestern coach Gary Barnett rather than Brown, athletic director Deloss Dodds even had a handshake deal in place with Barnett and a plane ready to bring him to Austin. Barnett never got on that plane. Instead, Texas legend Darrell Royal became the kingmaker whose decision everyone coalesced behind; Royal had met with Brown in Atlanta, knew Brown from years before, and Brown was christened the new Texas coach. That was way back in the winter of 1997. This time, there is no kingmaker of Texas athletics. No single person has the sway of Royal, nor should they. Yet despite Royal's absence in this search, the powers that be are channeling his ideology. They are remembering what he said, what he stood for, and putting it into practice. Coach Royal, when asked why he wanted Mack Brown as coach, said he felt like Brown was the one who could put all the BBs back in the box at Texas. That is exact same reason why those who donate heavily to the university and those who run the university are in utter agreement. They see Urban Meyer as the person to do just that. Meyer is the one they are convinced can put all the BBs back in the box and harness the power and potential of Texas football. Texas wants three-time national champion Meyer as the next Longhorn coach. And Meyer will be forced to say no. He will be forced to forego a potential financial package for himself and his assistants that would make Nick Saban blush. No matter the outcome, you can't blame Texas for trying, or the reasoning behind it.16 points

Wrong. The entire point of communication is to move an idea from your mind to another's. By typing "bleep" you used foul language because you communicated the idea of the word "shit" and communicating that idea was your intent. Replacing it with another word only made you feel righteous, but you still cussed. /rant15 points

I have my own counter-conspiracy about the Dominion machines. Since every accusation is actually a confession, the Trump team hacked the Dominion machines but didn't change enough votes, because they underestimated turnout.15 points

Here's a private plane with trips yesterday from Columbus, OH --> Austin and, after a one-hour pit stop, from Austin --> Orlando, FL. Registered owner is Columbus-based real estate firm Joseph Skilkin & Co., presumably for use largely by Steve Skilken, President of the company who was an All-American diver at tOSU (and appears to be a significant donor to athletics - see page 37). Would cut against the narrative that UT BSDs are flying Urban around, but perhaps the Skilken and Meyer families are close given through ties in the tOSU athletic department and Columbus area and UT is footing the bill for the charter.14 points

Our Larry, who art on Twitter, hallowed be thy name, thy Urban come, thy will be done, in Austin as it is in heaven. Give us this day, a new head coach, and forgive him his trespasses. And lead us not into mediocrity, but deliver us from Tom, for thine is the kingdom, and power and glory, forever and ever. Hook em.13 points

I posted this previously, but regardless of what happens with CUM, if they don't do some backchanneling and make aggy double down on Jimbo's contract then they're doing it wrong.12 points

I don't think people understand that CDC isn't just some jerk off idiot. He's one of the best AD's in all of athletics, not just college. The Texas job commands about as much revenue as a fucking pro sports team. This isn't just some dumbass jock sniffing and fanboy coomering at Urban Meyer. This is big boy shit.12 points

To be clear, the word was Matt Campbell's camp had agreed to the conceptual offer floated, provided Herman was shown the door. Nothing concrete, and nothing that couldn't have been total bullshit either. That info has since been referenced by guys like Nahlin and Burton, so I assume it's somewhat reliable if actual journalists/pseudo-journalists are alluding to it. Nonetheless, it's never like I'm in the room. We should all take anything floated during times like this with as many grains of salt as we may need, as nothing's real until there's ink. There are more ways to float bullshit with an agenda today than at any time in history. All of this considered, I view the premise of letting Herman go about BAU at this point as idiocy. Either Meyer is taking the job or he isn't. If he is, he's got the deal he needs already. If he isn't, the next guy is competing with other guys and UT has more leverage. With any of those outcomes, Herman is still fired and therefore able to do less damage to the program. My only counter to any of that is that CDC seems pretty good at his job, and we cannot see the full picture, so this must be necessary and the right move. I can't handle the concept of another incompetent hire or Herman continuing relevance at UT beyond next week, so I'll go with optimism.12 points

We need to create "Insider Scoop" index/database/whatever. Any time anyone says something like "the final offer was sent today" etc..., we alert whoever is responsible for this "Insider Index" or whatever, and they enter the username and the"information provided." Then whenever they come on here next time with some type of scoop, we can access the index and see what they're batting.11 points
