  1. I had longhorn games as a priority from 1994-2019. Maybe missed 5 total games in that span. Herman coaching and Sam playing fullback didn't make me be anti-UT...but all of a sudden in 2020, I would go with my wife to my daughter's play dates and soccer games that I normally would get out of 11 or 12x a year because the family became a higher priority on fall Saturdays. All I ask is for Sark to let me ignore my family again for a few months. Make the world right again.

  2. It had been at least 24hrs since Amazon delivered something to our house, so the wife decided to buy me a spare battery organizer...didn’t need it, but whatever, it’s the thought that counts I guess. Anyway, it comes with a little voltage tester... “Hey babe, can you check those AAAs on the counter? Pretty sure they’re dead.”

  3. I walked into the dining room and saw this. My boy made a little memorial to his dog, and his best friend. Once I stopped crying, I gave him a hug.

  4. Throwing distance is an over-valued measure - like a 40 vs shuttle or 3-cone. Velocity and spin rate are both more important BUUUUTTTTT it’s completely irrelevant because both Murphy and Ewers have NFL ++ arms in all those categories. Distance/strength/velo/spin - they both could outperform several noted NFL QBs in that regard right now. There isn’t a single throw where arm strength will limit either of them.

  5. Found a nice treat recently— a good chunk of Mangalica pork loin. The Mangalica is an odd looking, curly haired Hungarian heritage breed. It’s generally raised for longer than ordinary pigs, it produces LOTS more marbling and fat. My best description of it is that it tastes like pork, but more so. Most of it is turned into amazing bacon and sausage, but the fresh meat is perfect for simple grilling and roasting. Pan seared the outside then roasted in a hot oven to just under medium, brushed with a simple honey-garlic-mustard-fish sauce glaze. Right out of the oven. After resting, brushed again with some of the leftover glaze and sliced. Not pictured, served with some mashed sweet potatoes and a pepper-soft cheese salet. It killed.

  7. I got pulled over by a narcotics officer in Lafayette, LA last night as I was driving back to Houston from reffing a basketball game. The officer (insert bro name here) said I drove on the middle lane lines at least 3ft on both my left and right and that's why he pulled me over. Now, I can legit believe this because I was definitely on my phone trying to pull up at podcast at that point and was halfway paying attention. He asked to see my license, and of course I already have it on the visor to just easily pull out and make it not look like I'm reaching for something. He goes back to his car for a good 5 minutes then comes back to ask me to step out of the vehicle. He starts asking me where I was going and where was I coming from--the usual. Then he immediately asks do I have any drugs or narcotics in the car. Me: "No sir." Narcotics Bro: "You sure?" Me: "Yes, I'm sure sir." He does the above but asks me about any potential guns in the car or any large sums of cash. Me: "No sir." Narcotics Bro: "You sure about that?" Me: "Yes sir, no guns, knives, or any weapons. I don't carry cash--cards only." At this point, I could tell Narcotics Bro was getting a little edgy because he just knew he caught me in something. He goes back to his car to do something with my license again (I presume) and this takes a while. He then comes back to me, and I could tell he thought I was a dumbass. He asks about suitcases in the car (how many), if anyone other than myself packed my bags, or if I had traveled with anyone else on my trip at any point. The answer was clearly no to all of those questions. Narcotics Bro: "Yeah, so your story doesn't quite add up, so I'm going to need to search your vehicle. Do you mind if I do that?" Me: "I don't consent to that, so no you can't search my car." Narcotics Bro: "Is there a reason why you don't want me to search your car?" Me: "No, no reason but you don't have a warrant to do that, so no. And actually I'm getting a little scared here." Narcotics Bro: "Why, because you know you have some weed or pills in there?" Me: "Nah, I'm scared because I'm Black and you're a White officer and we both know how these situations typically end up." Narcotics Bro: "Dude, I understand. My body cam is right here, and I have a Black Wife!" Me: He goes back to his car again for forever while I'm counting semis going by, and he comes back to tell me since I don't agree to a search then the K9 unit will have to be called. I say gleefully "okay" because I know I don't have jack shit in my car. I'm in a rental (shoutout Avis) with Georgia plates so I think this didn't help. He asks to see the agreement and I give it to him. He looks it over for a few minutes then says "hey, how much did you pay for this rental" and I'm thinking bro, you have the agreement in your fucking hand. But nonetheless, I blurt out the exact amount. He looks on the agreement, sees I'm right, and I can see he's getting frustrated. He later asks why I don't take my own car, which I can assume is just because he's trying to catch me in something to which I response "because it's brand new and I don't want to put the miles on it." K9 Asian bro comes, and Cujo is barking like crazy. He talks with Narcotics Bro for a bit then the search begins. I see K9 bros face and it looks like "you called me out here for this waste of time shit" type faces. I'm smiling like a mofo because Narcotics is about to look like a fool. While Cujo is circling the car, I start to make small talk about the weather, Lafayette eateries, the traffic, and just other bullshit because I know he now knows he's just wasted both of ours time. 3 circles for Cujo, no dice, and back to the unit he goes. Asian K9 officer with the look of "waste of time" on his face walking back. He then says he's just gonna let me go with a warning and that it sounds like I was just tired, something I told him when he first stopped me. He's had my license the entire time but before he gives it back, he holds it up one last time, shines his flashlight on it and just twists the license in his hand--this goes on for 30 seconds. I'm sitting here thinking that if my license was fake, you would have seen that 25 minutes ago when you did the exact same thing. He hands it back then suggests I go to the Exxon on the next exit and get a red bull or some bangs (wtf???) to drink so I can wake up a little. Long story short--I'm definitely not traumatized by this situation, but I'm still a little irked that my complete, 100% honest story to him gets a response of basically "I think you're lying so I need to search your car." I'm damn near 40--I ain't got time to be hauling shitty ass weed across state lines. Just wanted to get this off my chest. It still feels like I dreamt this as I can't believe it happened. Not sure what to think really.

Well, I’ll give you a top 5 class … scenario. Let me be clear, this is my best class scenario for Texas. And for those that don’t know my background, I wanted JT Barrett over Tyrone Swoopes, I prefer a first year head coach locks down the state, especially with this otherworldly 2022 class of ballers, and I didn’t put a future forecast of Texas in for Jason Llewellyn a few minutes before he committed to Oklahoma. So what do I know? Hell if I know. But here goes my best class scenario for the Longhorns with the understanding that the Texas staff may well look at prospects and positions differently and the recruiting board is always moving in Austin. QB Quinn Ewers, Southlake Carroll (Ohio State commit) 6-3, 210, his IT handle is @UTwuz QB Maalik Murphy, Junipero Serra (Texas commit) 6-5, 225, big arm and big personality RB Jaydon Blue, Klein Cain (Texas commit) 5-10.5, 205, Blues Clues RB Feeling bigger back take as No. 2 in the class 6-0, 200+, downhill hammer with feet in the hole WR Evan Stewart, Frisco Liberty (Texas commit) 6-0, 175, blur.0 WR Brenen Thompson, Spearman 5-10, 165, blur.0 WR Jordan Hudson, Garland High (Oklahoma commit) 6-1, 180, best ball skills in America in 2022 WR Chris Marshall, Fort Bend Marshall 6-3, 195, 20 points per game in hoops in Fort Bend ISD! WR Armani Winfield, Lewisville (Texas commit) 6-2, 180, Margin Hooks TE N/A 0-0, 000, 0.0 OT Neto Umeozulu, Allen 6-4, 300, Texas owns Allen High OT Kelvin Banks, Summer Creek 6-5, 300, plays for Kenny Harrison OT Jacob Sexton, Deer Creek 6-5, 285, Bryan White, Keith Frierson and Mike Garcia helping recruit this big fella OT/G Kam Dewberry, Atascocita 6-4, 320, 82-inch wingspan Kyle Flood will use to fight off Texas A&M OG Devon Campbell, Arlington Bowie 6-4, 305, @WilliamsDavid will do 1,500 fingertip pushups at IT's Coastal Plains Happy Hour if Campbell signs with Texas OG Connor Robertson or Cole Hutson Texas should win out on one of the two. DT Jaray Bledsoe, Bremond 6-4, 270, TexAgs should film documentary DT Kristopher Ross, North Shore 6-3, 265, family connection to Nipsey Hussle DE/EDGE Derrick Brown, Texas High 6-4.5, 205, thinks @Justin Wells is a close talker DE/EDGE D.J. Wesolak, Booneville (MO) 6-5, 236, good buddy in area, Tyson Ford, is a verbal to ND LB Trevell Johnson, Arlington Martin 6-1, 200, loves special teams contact LB Harold Perkins, Cy Park 6-2.5, 200, Aggie lock from New Orleans that likes Alabama and loves Tim Brewster S Bryan Allen Jr., Aledo 6-0, 190, favorite IT poster is @keganr N/CB/S Bryce Anderson, Beaumont West Brook 5-11, 185, James Brown vs. Chip Ambres recruitment … you know James loves predictions! N/CB Jaylon Guilbeau, Port Arthur Memorial 6-0, 180, Golden Triangle toughness CB/N/S Terrance Brooks, Plano John Paul II 5-11, 185, George Teague/Chet Brooks/Mom loves Bay Area CB Denver Harris, North Shore 6-1, 180, Eric Nahlin with a percentage of 100 K Blake Ford, Arlington Lamar 6-0, 190, Chris Sailer No. 1 ranked 2022 kicker Notes: *That would be a class of 20’ish 4-star/5-star prospects, which will get you in the top 5 in the 2022 cycle. *Texas would absolutely send a message that the Longhorns intend to sign as many top prospects from inside the state lines as possible. *Went with six OL’s out of program need, likely one more than the staff will go with. *If it’s five OL’s, expectation is another DE/EDGE prospect or a sixth DB. 11. Sark has a pretty good sales pitch to sell to Brandon. Hey son, why don't you stick around here for a bit. We'll get you some coaching experience, but recruiting can get you paid too. Did you see that we just got a Special Teams coach a million per year because he's bad a$$ at recruiting. Stick with me and in a few years you'll be able to afford as many strippers and monkeys as your heart desires.

  12. I was there. I can vouch. Tex Pete literally did his best impression of a regarded Adrian Peterson with a high ankle sprain as he gimped into the middle of the Ou band, which was marching through the midway into the stadium before the game. And when I say, the middle, I mean trombones in his face and flutes in his ass. He could not have been more in the middle the band. We had outstanding seats, so Larry Burdine could hear Pete clearly during timeouts as Pete yelled, “Do you see what happens, Larry? Do you see what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass?!?!” He was in rare form. It was glorious.

  20. Don't have to speculate much. AP being the HC-in-training is the worst kept secret in Tempe. Herm (and Marvin Lewis) have been grooming him since he was plucked from Long Beach Poly. Pro Bowler, Super Bowl Champ, tied into So Cal deeply, went to college at Arizona and wound up hating UA's leadership. He's the ASU dream coach. ASU landing Larry Turner-Gooden is part due to AP bringing in Chris Claiborne from USC to coach LB's at ASU. CC and AP are friends. Claiborne had coached LTG at Calabasus previously. The ASU DB coach's father also runs the kid's 7 on 7 team. ASU needs a big year to keep momentum. The good news for them is their roster is in really good shape. This is, on paper, their best team since the Plummer/Tillman era.

  22. That clip in the spoiler might not be too far from the truth. Okay, I really did do some sleuthing tonight and it's very, very strange. She and her husband are both pretty much scrubbed from the Internet pre-2015 or so. I went through some of those Intelius / Spokeo deals and found nothing on her in any of them. I mean, nothing at all. Based on what is out there in various profiles, we know that at the time of her birth, her father, Robert Taylor, was based in Alpharetta, GA. That is where his construction company has been since 1969. However, she was born in Milledgeville, GA, in 1974. She apparently did not stay there very long -- I have friends on the ground there who you would think would have at least known her daddy. It's not a big place, and at any rate, his place of business was Alpharetta for years prior to that and decades after that. It's very odd that his kid would be born in Milledgeville. So..here is where it gets weird. Milledgeville was then and is now the home of Central State Hospital, which opened in 1842 as the Georgia State Lunatic, Idiot, and Epileptic Asylum. While the name has been softened, it retains that function, though today for juveniles. While today it's only home to about 200 patients, circa 1970, prior to deinstitutionalization, it was home to something like 10,000 patients. At one point it was the world's largest insane asylum. Now back in those days a man could get his wife committed for a whole bunch of things, ranging from "frigidity" to alcoholism to nagging or whatever. "Doc, she's just got a bad case of nerves, and the drugs ain't workin'." Or maybe the woman really was just plumb crazy. And so... Given the absence of a mother in any story about MTG's upbringing, and the fact that she was not born in the town where her dad had his business, for no reason that has been publicly explained, and all the scrubbing that has gone into covering up her background, I think there is a strong to very strong possibility that her mother was an inmate at Central State when Marjorie was born. Maybe some in the media already know this and are withholding it out of a sense of ethics or decency or whatever, much as the Austin media won't discuss Fitlump's alleged loss of custody of her child. Dunno. But there is no real compelling reason for a successful Alpharetta businessman's child to have been born in Milledgeville to a mystery mother, and then for that man to apparently have had custody of that child all her life unless there is some kind of story like this. Southern family court judges rarely awarded custody to dads back in those days, especially not what is seems like Robert Taylor got -- total custody forever and ever.

  25. Well that was just about the hardest thing I’ve ever done. How is it that an animal buries itself so deeply into your heart and soul. He was my best buddy in the world. Not seeing him waiting in the window every night when pull in the driveway will be tough. But his time had come. And doing it at home made it better. He will leave a massive hole in our hearts. My kids have really known very little of life without him. RIP, doggy. You were the best. And thanks surly. Sharing the experience with others that have gone through it is a bit cathartic.
