  1. As the father of a D1 football player I can tell you it’s 100% true that parents read these boards and it influences our decisions. CTJ made me cry one time and I made Laramie cancel his official visit to UT. But it all worked out in the end, now my son is the starting kicker and CTJ is my best friend.

  2. First time poster of the board, but a long time follower. I haven’t seen this comp thrown out for Hale, but he reminds me of Cee Dee Lamb the way he can break tackles with a slighter frame. Also runs very similar and has decent body control for his age/skill. I am glad we got Arch, this will help line things up for the rest of the class!

  5. Christ, this thread had some great dialogue. Almost felt like we were at a bar having some beers having a meaningful discussion. Then…it got slorch’d.

  6. Yeah, I don’t really care about shitting on kids unless you’re willing to tell us what’s the cause for “character” issues. Evan Stewart seems like a little bitch based on his most recent videos but he doesn’t have “character” issues from what I’ve seen. Now guys like Demond Demas and Joshua Moore 100% have issues. I haven’t seen Jalen Hale break any laws or get kicked off his team. Seems like every school is still recruiting him. Aggy is the only fan base labeling him as character issues and we know why. I will say, lots of other fanbases said Xavier Worthy and Jayden Blue had “character” problems during their recruitments and would be team cancers. One is considered a team leader now and the other one has put his head down and worked since he enrolled and is expected to be a contributor. These 16 year olds are now under a microscope with social media. They are going to make mistakes and do stupid shit like most teenagers. If they are breaking laws, then fair game… otherwise we just look like aggy.

  11. Nahhhh if Liz Cheney is going to use the political capital she’s gaining by being “one of the good ones” and then turns around and blocks the investigation of an obviously culpable subject to protect said subject because her husband rules in favor of her beliefs then leak away. Shit like this is why many of us that are actual lifelong Democrats aren’t singing kumbaya over the likes of her and Romney and Kizinger. Yeah - they’re anti-Trump and anti-insurrection but FFS that’s the bare ass minimum. They still support the majority of the GOP agenda and are continuing to vote against voting rights and continuing to support gerrymandering and anti-choice legislation. Liz Cheney is talking a big game when it comes to 1/6 but she’s still happily on board with every shitty SCOTUS decision that Thomas and Alito and their henchmen have foisted on us this term. Fuck her for protecting Uncle Ruckus and his crazy traitor wife.

  14. Texas and Oregon put the CFB world on tilt with their respective NIL efforts. Many alumni bases are reacting pragmatically and trying to build something competitive of their own that fits their specific goals and means. Some bases will be able to compete across all sports in an arms race with Oregon and Texas. Ohio State and Michigan. Notre Dame and Penn State. Maybe Georgia. They’ll have to want to do it, of course. There are others like Bama and LSU who will figure out how to be competitive at the top of the elite recruit list every year, but their bases have already blanched at what it is going to take to do it. The price of poker went up. Bag money is dwarfed already. Then you have Oklahoma, USC, and Tennessee. Kansas too, bizarrely, and I’m sure we’ll hear about more, but all of these groups basically just decided to tout made up shit or vapor prospective nonsense. I guess they figure they’ll just figure it out on the fly or are equating some of it to the black market where they’ll say one thing and do another with players and get away with it. It doesn’t work that way when players, parents, handlers and agents can talk openly to whoever the fuck they feel like. So yeah, Addison hadn’t seen a dime as of a few days ago. Barry Switzer just making shit up on behalf of OU might stall some momentum away from them for a bit, but the recruit-side wises up quickly and they’re going to start asking for proof and asking on-campus players for truth. ATM is in a whole different situation. They went full big black bag, tried to mock NIL to recruits as fake shit and got away with that for a spell, and expected to establish themselves as a player in the under the table game for the foreseeable future. In one of the more ironic twists even for the aggies, it appears as though their zeal for coming over the top of accepted norms in the stealth game has caused two major reverberations against them - 1) they accelerated everyone else’s interest in NIL as a means of countering their bag behavior and 2) they have become everyone’s favorite whipping boy in negative recruiting. Fisher and the AD attempting to “I am not a crook!” all of it and pointing fingers elsewhere and making threats hasn’t helped their cause. In the most on-brand aggie maneuver of all time, ATM pulled the NIL bookshelf on top of themselves just as they thought they were getting going.

  15. Ecosystems have carrying capacities, and more humans create increased burdens on that capacity. And as the population grows we do stupid things like building subdivisions in the desert, and that requires pulling water out of other ecosystems, which destabilizes watersheds. The United States is irrationally obsessed with growth, and it's growth capitalism that's destroying the planet. Human population growth is just another facet of this deeply flawed, and potentially fatal, philosophy. As Edward Abbey said, it's the ideology of the cancer cell. Grow, grow, grow until you destroy the host.

  23. I can’t recommend enough this piece about Russia’s Central Bank and it’s admittedly rock star President Nabiullina. It provides much needed nuance and insight into what’s going on with Russia’s economy and the ruble and a counter-point to IV’s crypto cheering and defeatism. Also, Nabiullina is an excellent example of what, in my experience, makes Russia (kind of) function. Russia is host to lots and lots of people, most of them non-ideological, who are not only deeply patriotic to whatever “Russia” exists, but also brilliant and dedicated in a way that’s hard to explain. It’s kind of a paradox, like how some of the most beautiful and humanistic achievements of literature and music have also been produced by the same frozen penal colony. Anyway, it is a grave error to dismiss the human capital present in lots of Russian institutions (the best tend to gravitate away from the “power” ministries and agencies— which is for the better). Lest this come off as a defense of them, it isn’t, as unquestioning patriotism and “doing good so that evil might prevail” is a grave moral defect. I hope this gets seen cause this thread is all wonky on my browser. https://meduza.io/en/feature/2022/07/07/the-banker-s-dilemma

  24. My entire life, there have been concerns about a future with no resources. No enough clean water. Not enough energy. Not enough food. Too much pollution caused by too many people. Now I’m supposed to believe population decline is a bad thing? Nope. Will it be bad for the machine? Sure, but fuck the machine.

  25. There are millions of people that discuss the performance of the Texas head coach. Nobody on this board will say anything about Sark that these recruits don't see on twitter or hear from other coaches daily That's very different from spilling personal, private information about the recruit The two aren't similar. This isn't that hard

  30. You're right that stuff gets posted here that isn't super public, but you're really trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. All the stuff that you mention in this post is likely nothing compared to what recruits hear from other coaches/people negative recruiting Texas. Also, recruits aren't going to give any shits about the near hiring of Stoops or the hiring process lmao You also need to understand there's a ton of stuff that doesn't get posted on here. People like ctj and some of the 9.95ers exercise a lot of discretion before sharing information because they care about how it affects the program. The best example I can think of was Bru's transfer v1. The news of his intention to transfer leaked on Jan 24th but had been circulating in Texas circles for at least a couple days beforehand (at least the 22nd as that's when I learned about it). But nobody said anything because that was information that could negatively affect our chances in the recruitment -- see Helton and players cornering in his room to pressure him to stay once it did leak. Basically, just chill out and be thankful for people that share info on this board. It makes recruiting much more fun and gives us an inside look that we wouldn't have otherwise. And they're not going to share anything that they think would hurt the program, except maybe Carl, but I wasn't around much during his time lol
