Moral center? No. The adult leader in the room? And preferably more of a uniter. They are president of the UNITED states, not President of the Democrats or President of the Republicans. We absolutely lost sight of that at some point. It's a lot of why I like Biden - a lot of what he is doing (manufacturing and solar jobs and infrastructure projects) are helping people who didn't vote for him, but he is still their president and they are still Americans. That's leadership.17 points

I don't see how A&M can lose when all the third stringers are future NFL hall of famers. Fly me to Vancouver and take away my WIFI, but I think they're going undefeated!16 points

Not conservatives, not GOP. I'm amazed that this obliterated narrative keeps getting brought up. NO, conservatives pick issues only with their hearts, not with their heads. The idea of the GOP being the party of law and order, science, and cold analysis got dragged out to wood shed and gang raped by Reagan, Newt, and the Costco Republicans. Universal pre-k pays for itself, increases GDP, reduces crime, and host of other societal issues... Nope can't have that Sex Ed reduces abortion and pays for itself... Nope School lunches, nope Funding education, nope pfffft - who wants an educated workforce? Commies that's who! Preventative healthcare, nope Support for Veterans, fuck those losers, nope Climate denial, that won't cost us anything, right? Infrastructure reinvestment, nope Immigration, lulz talk to farmers in Florida to see how that's going. Whilst simultaneously complaining about demographic collapse / population decline in the US Tell me again how cold calculating engineers used science and math to formulate policies that ignore the world and scientists around them.16 points

Former Trump WH lawyer Ty Cobb on Trump promising to release a “large complex, detailed, but irrefutable report on the presidential election fraud”: “There’s a good chance that whatever document he produces ends up as evidence against him. It could even end up as the basis for an obstruction count against the author because it’s likely to be fiction and solely for the purpose of contaminating the jury pool.”16 points

I'd take offense at that comment but I don't really have the energy.15 points

THIS IS THE FOOTBALL BOARD. A THREAD ABOUT THE 2023 TEXAS LONGHORNS FALL CAMP ISN'T THE PLACE FOR A POLITICAL CONVERSATION IN THE FIRST PLACE, MUCH LESS THE PLACE FOR A "I AM TIRED OF BEING QUIET" DISCUSSION.15 points

Keep it coming. More. I want Rudy to first experience the crashing reality of losing it all. The money. The power. Everything. And then, once he's broke, and completely ruined, he tops it off with the loss of his liberty. He puts on an orange jumpsuit with a number. He eats every remaining meal of his life off a metal tray. He dies in a prison bed, panicked, still anxious about how far he has fallen, and the fate that is staring him in his yellowing eyes. That's what I want. That's the outcome I want for traitors who attacked my country. That's what any REAL PATRIOT wants. I'm sick and fucking tired of these broken-brained orange knob slobberers claiming that title. They're not fucking patriots. They are the textbook definition of traitors. Those of us who want our constitutional republic to survive, to enforce the rule of law, and to crush those who would try to bring it down....WE ARE PATRIOTS.14 points

Hilary was a bad candidate, largely because of decades of targeted attacks from the right. Among other personality-based (and, let's face it, gender-based) reasons. But trying to blame Democrats for causing Trump by running a bad candidate is some bitch-made, cowardly shit to try absolve yourself from guilt and embarrassment. So, of course, that's what Incredulity is going with. Trump wasn't some unknown that you decided you'd rather give a shot to than Hilary, and then got burned on it. No, it was Donald fucking Trump. You knew exactly who he was and is. You voted for him because you wanted to. Full stop. You knew how fucking vapid and stupid he is, and how everything he touches turns to shit. But the stuff he said about Hilary and Obama made you laugh. You like trolls when they go after people you don't like. And, at least, he's not a dirty liberal (anymore). Not much more complex than that. Just fucking own it, you cowards.14 points

I've seen a similar scenario play out like that before: small enterprise/jurisdiction is crooked, gets away with shit always, all the time. Until they finally do the "one thing too many." It leaves a big fat thread dangling out there. Some outsider comes along and pulls that thread. And, because it's an outsider who is thus immune to the local power/control, there's nothing to stop them when they keep pulling and pulling and pulling (wtf is the police chief gonna do to the NYT?). And HOLY SHIT, the stuff you see unravel. The Marion power structure may have just seriously FA'd. The FO will follow. EDIT: BTW, what would be VERY cool would be to see a major outlet like the NYT do their investigation and reporting JOINTLY with the Marion paper. That way, they're both on the byline and both get credit when the Pulitzer rolls in. There's a really good opportunity here to make a public display of how important local, community journalism is.12 points

No offense, dude, but this is some weak bullshit. Do I love that our current President is 137 years old? Of course not. But arguably the most important job of a President is who he surrounds himself with, so pretending like he and Trump are both in the same vicinity of bad choices it's fundamentally dishonest. It's not luck that there's competent people in the White House now. And you're subtly advancing the "senile old man being pulled around by his puppeteers" narrative. No, his foreign relations and years in politics have served him (and the United States) well. You can just say that he's done a much better job than you expected. It's okay.10 points
