So you can announce the tariff, but you can't actually collect the tariff. And that's really the most important part of the tariff, the collection. Anybody can just announce them.17 points

Two days in, 5+ miles a day my feet fucking hurt, iβm down about 2000 at the pro shop but less than 100 at concessions. Absolutely fantastic weather. Weβve been getting up at 5:15 AM on the road by six standing in line by 6:30. on Thursday We did the honorary starters then dropped a chair on the rope directly behind the flag onto hole 2, pin was right in front of us, if you watch the broadcast, you saw me. Bhatia hit his second into a chair to my left. They had to move everything and give him some space. Then they moved all the shit back and then Bryson hit the same damn chair in the next threesome, had to move everything again, and then Shane Lowry hit one into the crowd to my right. So at one point, Iβve got Bryson a few feet away to my left and Shane a few feet away to my right. I never had to move, but everybody else did. Then Rory was right in front of me. We watched everyone come through 2 and then walked all around the course. Today we were dawn patrol again and grabbed a spot on the rope on 16 but directly behind 15 so we could watch the approaches (lay up or go) from 15 as well as see 16 very well. By the way, a range finder is a great thing to bring to the masters. We left our chairs and then went and sat in someone elseβs chairs on 2 for a couple of hours. After we grabbed some lunch, we went to 10 and chased Rose from 10-13 just squatting peoples chairs then sat in the grandstands at 15 and watched them come in, and then went to our chairs on 16 and watched everybody else from there. Iβm gassed. Two more days of this. Iβm missing the Tour box at the Players, the Masters ainβt no day the spa. Those hills are no joke.14 points

NGL, corps kowtowing to political chicanery and rolling back inclusivity with respect to both customers and employees as well as consumer protection policies does not have us wanting to buy anything that isn't strictly necessary. Fuck the regime's cries of don't panic. Yeah, sure, I'll believe a mobster standing in front of my door with his goons behind him saying that with a smile on his face. Not. However, we do have to eat. We rarely eat out, but when we do, it's the local places. The taqueria up the street whose enchilada platter puts me in a meat coma, the Indian buffet with fantastic mutter paneer, the Korean restaurant that has a seafood pancake that is so crisp and tasty, the burger joint. Real food made by our neighbors in the community. Their costs will probably go up and therefore their prices, but we'll be there for them.14 points

Itβs kinda a pain in the ass to look up the stateβs election results in politico then find the county to ensure the people of said county deserve the leopards. But when I get a hit, I also get a hit of dopamine and, of course, schadenfreude. Worth it.13 points

Blake Munroe I'm told this morning that there's a good chance Texas third baseman Adrian Rodriguez returns to the diamond this weekend, as the Horns head to Lexington to face Kentucky. While it's not set in stone as of this this update, a source close to the program feels optimistic we'll see the freshman phenom in action. Rodriguez has been out since the Horns sweep of Missouri. He is batting .326 at the plate, with 31 hits, 14 RBIs, and 5 home runs. As OTF has reported previously, Rodriguez has been "structurally fine" but Texas wanted to hold him out until he wasn't hurting.10 points

As a former working journalist β in sports, mind you β I thought the worst legacy that Trumpβs presidency was going to leave (unfortunately, destroying American Democracy is now on the table) was that he single-handedly destroyed legitimate media in this country with his constant barrage of βfake newsβ bullshit. It ruined all trust in legacy media, which I admit didnβt help itself a whole bunch. Couple that with the fact that anybody on Surly could have a legitimate looking news media site up and running online this afternoon. The shit looks real so it must be real. Whatβs the old saying β never get into a war or words with somebody who buys ink by the barrel. In the online world, we all have an unlimited supply of ink.10 points

Another spring practice update from Carter Karels. At the end, I can sort of feel him trying to admit that having to go to these practices is spinning him towards slitting his veins in a bathtub. Highlights: -The QB play, against air, mind you, looks like Mike Elko's ass pressed firmly against a mirror. -One of the QBs almost literally knocked Holmon Wiggins the fuck out. -The WRs aren't big, but they're probably faster and quicker than last year, per Carter. By that, he uses Bussey as part of his theory and yet Bussey wasn't even working out due to hamstring issues. -They've had multiple jaggers return to practice. Daniels, who probably can't clear 5.0 in the 40. Chappell, who has a tire track tattoo on his torso as a reminder of how often he was torched before going down last season. Scooby Doo. Some CB I've never heard of as well. -After getting lubed up for Concepcion, Concepcion immediately collapses into rubble with a lower leg injury that caused him to stay out of the rest of the drills.9 points

Worse, Trump completely co-opted and inverted the meaning of βfake newsβ. It used to be exactly that, untrue/unsourced stories from outlets with no journalistic standards (and eventually, bots spreading straight up lies). Trump gets his tiny hands on the term and now it basically means βany story that the legacy media prints thatβs in any way negative to Trumpβ. Meanwhile, the actually fake news sources that the term was meant for are where half the country now gets their news.9 points

Right. It used to be that a platform to speak on a subject had to be earned, with degrees and credentials and testimonials from other subject matter experts. Now anybody can have a forum to speak as if they know what they're talking about without having to prove it. See David Avocado Wolfe, health and nutrition guru with no education on health or nutrition, who thinks that chocolate is an octave of sun energy (no shit). See Jenny McCarthy educating an entire generation of shitter researchers on the real cause of autism, and these vapid housewives listen because she's pretty and they've heard her name before. That's all it takes. It's the worst irony ever that the greatest storehouse of information in human history has made us irredeemably stupid.9 points
