1 Why would anyone do that when there's a summary? You ever listened to yourself, William? Beating. Beeeee-ting. 2 The word you're looking for is summary. A transcript is a word-by-word record. A short-handed transcript, I'm guessing, is a transcript that needs more employees. I know, William, it's the short-handed transcriber who makes you sound dull-minded again here. 3 I'm sure you're right. Listen, I have plenty of posts around here. Pick one and show me how it's done. Oh, and thanks for reading! 4 That's a mission statement for one of our schools.32 points

Looks like OU went in with something crazy. Guys on Sooners Illustrated who seem to know some things believe that Nagy decided that he's a "must-have" and couldn't concede him to Texas. I know I would have liked to have gotten him for multiple reasons, same as many others here, but this is one situation where it is both a certainty that OU is spending money they don't really have, so that's going to impact their roster and recruiting elsewhere, and they're also dramatically overpaying for what the player is really worth. I'd say good luck to the guy, but if he's going to OU, fuck him. And fuck OU too. Another thing I think this does is make Texas more willing to flip Henderson later. I'm sure they'll keep looking for a good answer that doesn't involve doing something crazy for Henderson, but I do think it opens up some room to get stupid if they wanted to with the flip.31 points

Ummm, guys. Guys. GUYS! I love you guys, but discussing this as a crime issue is just sort of...uhhhhh....missing the big picture. It wouldn't matter if the murder rate were 20% higher and other crimes the same. He's ordering federal forces to seize an American city. There is only one reason. He's testing how much power he has. So far, he's got all of it. Crime has nothing more to do with this than rodent control. Keep relying on some sort of political solution founded in Dem messaging, and Trump will hit no boundary. Acid wit and astute argument are not the appropriate instruments to stop a seizure by force. If anybody gave a real shit about this, there would be a national strike and unbridled outrage. Leaving protest and resistance only in the hands of the persecuted is pathetic. A joyful, self-satisfied, one-time event like "No Kings" is just checking a box. Check here if you did at least something. There are a lot of checkboxes between that and Check here if you successfully stopped tyranny. I begin to despise our passivity as much or more than the fascists' malignance. I'm being too polite in this world. I must act more or hate myself.24 points

Comically relevant to the Kreul discussion with OU. They've been recruiting WR Davion Groce for this entire cycle. They've been up against Baylor and, to a lesser extent, UF the whole time. Groce's camp recently indicated in the last month that they were likely picking OU over Baylor, despite BU putting a good offer together. The player announces tonight and OU has considered him in the bag for a while. Update today is that Florida has come in off of the top ropes with a big time offer. Groce's camp has allegedly given OU this afternoon to match or beat. Remember that part about OU coming in with something crazy for Kreul? Well, that was done when they thought they had Groce locked up at a different number. I'm guessing they're going to have to pass on one or the other. If they pony up for both, I assume that is going to lead to some serious retention issues with the portal if they're not prepared to pony up around the table for experience already on the roster at Edge and WR. Watching OU get put in Sophie's choice after Sophie's choice is only going to get more entertaining.22 points

Billy Liucci There's a guy from Texas, and I hope he's listening. I think he's an absolute loser. He takes what I say via the transcript... I don't think it's clicked for him. It's a short-handed transcript, and he goes point-by-point with a crayon. He does a horrifically bad job at it. Get better at what you do, and become a better obsessed loser. I also understand teams get better and worse. Most people think A&M can't get better. It's weird for me, and nothing is guaranteed, and so many teams seem to be a part of a crowded pack. Alabama is part of it, and Georgia and Texas are very slightly above the pack. It's nowhere near what it used to be in the SEC in Georgia's prime and Nick Saban with Alabama or the random LSU championships. It's as crowded as it's ever been for teams to beat each other, especially with the turnover, newness and talent of unproven quarterbacks. Real quickly, look at A&M. They should be better on the offensive line. They are better at wide receiver and tight end. It's not even close. For quarterbacks, it's like Marcel Reed and everyone else in the conference. What jump do they make? It's TBD. I've talked to many people, Reed will be better, but how much will he be noticeably better? I don't know how that translates in-game, but I think his style of play is better as a game player than a practice player. You have to factor that in. Our secondary is already noticeably better. Linebackers should be better, and it's the second year at A&M for Scooby Williams. When you lose Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart and Shemar Turner, I'm sorry... It's really hard for that group to be better. They weren't bad. I think they will be better to some degree, I'm confident it will be better at every other position. It's TBD on the defensive line, but Cashius Howell had that sack, Rylan Kennedy and Regis are back. Let's be real, it was three first and second-rounders. If it's any other team, we would be saying they would be taking a step back, so let's do that. A&M, I think, will be better, but how much vs. the other teams? When looking at the quarterback, people say I'm not sure about Reed, and I'm going, βLook at the games like LSU, Florida and Arkansas.β South Carolina was rough, and the Texas game... Two of the best defenses for a quarterback and a SEC road game with elite defenses. LaNorris Sellers would scare me. The other teams that would scare. I saw Barstool put Garrett Nussmeier as the Heisman, and LSU is the national champions. I saw him get humiliated by A&M and eaten alive by Alabama on his own field. He completed 43 percent of passes and threw a pick-six against South Carolina that would have lost the game. Everyone goes, βGive me Nussmeier,β but I see flaws. We are scared of Auburn, right? Give them Reed, if they watch the games and see the numbers... We have Jaxson Arnold coming from Oklahoma... A&M fans would be scared of Reed. If you're worried about his jump, how would you feel about Arnold? Yet, we are scared of Auburn? I don't understand it, but I understand the βshow meβ factor, and I got to see the quarterback's improvement. I don't understand not applying it to the opposition, not applying it to the teams you play. Another example is if you're A&M, and look, we are all sports fans, and we understand that an unknown guy can be great. Arch Manning may be the greatest thing, could be as good as his uncles, might be a Hall of Famer or Heisman, and win a national championship, but we don't know. He reminds me of Andrew Luck. We've got plenty of guys who live up to the hype. You look at the league with Ty Simpson and Gunner Stockton, and maybe it's Austin Simmons who is the best, and you also look at CJ Carr. We are worried about Reed's jump. We should go: What about the guys he goes up against? Carr has no experience. Going into that game should be an advantage for A&M. The question is, is their defense light years ahead of ours? My point is, if you focus on Reed, it's fair to say I need to see what type of jump he'll make. I think he's so important. If you do that, then hold Arnold, Carr and DJ Lagway and all those guys to the same point. I was more impressed with what Sellers did, and I don't know stats, but I saw what I watched. If he can hone in on his passing, he could remind me of a guy that's actually scary. The other ones, like Reed, have to get better and more consistent to scare me. People in Baton Rouge believe they have the best defensive line in the country from the portal. Dominick McKinley is a five-star recruit and took a picture closer to the camera, and he looks bigger. They think they have the best defensive line because they portaled the hell out of it. It's probably not. They'll tell you how great the interior line is. They got their butts whipped with top picks and NFL Draft pick Will Campbell. In Baton Rouge, they will actively convince you that their offensive line is fine. We're getting told ours is not good. As a collective, we believe in nonsense from elsewhere, and we shoot the holes in it. It's a loser mentality I despise. And it's pitiful. It makes the offseason unfun. I'm not predicting them to be 10-2 and Reed to make a Heisman jump. I'm not saying the Aggie defense is the best in the SEC. I'm just saying apply to the opposition, and don't believe everything you hear from the other schools. If you're not going to believe anything you hear, whether it's from anyone covering A&M, if it's not positive, you meet it with skepticism. Somebody told me yesterday, a good buddy of mine said, βI'm scared of South Carolina.β A&M pummeled them two years ago here. I just think if we want it to be more enjoyable, apply it elsewhere. It's something we talk about on Moving Goalposts. Amanda Atwell makes a great point. I'm looking at Texas, and I have a little more scrutiny on them than Georgia and Ohio State, particularly. They lose a lot, and Georgia and Ohio State lost a lot more on defense. Ohio State's offensive line is decimated. Georgia and Texas bring back quarterbacks. What are we doing with Stockton and Julian Sayin? For the Aggies, itβs easier to apply that. You have to take the Burnt Orange hate glasses off. A&M fans could talk more honestly about Alabama because we don't play them, more than Florida with their jump. You worry about that more, and we haven't talked much about Simmons. Jaxson Dart was tremendous, but if Ole Miss were on the schedule, we would be more scared of Simmons than they would be of Reed. If that's what you see, I agree with you. If you're scared of every team A&M plays and you're saying, "I can't find the wins,β then I don't have time for that. Segment 2 (18:52:26 - 26:38:00) I donβt know the excitement level, but there is a level of hope. I always get excited for football season, but Dave, you seem like a grumpy SOB. Iβm trying to enjoy my coffee and my time with NuΓ±o and the listeners, but Dave, you sound miserable to talk sports with. Youβre a sports grump. I get what youβre saying, but if you canβt look at last season and go, βMan, for the first year, I'm going to analyze the totality of the season, look at what they have coming back, what they brought in the portal, and Iβm going to have some optimism.β Itβs almost like when I hear that text, you think anyone whoβs in the absolute tank like yourself, that just goes, βI'm going to expect more of the same.β You act like these other people donβt acknowledge the possibility of the 8-4 type season, and you hope that it's not worse. The difference between you and me is that I can acknowledge the possibility of it being better. Just like you are analyzing Florida, making a massive jump, saying Auburn is making a massive jump, but youβre ignoring the losses to South Carolina on defense. LSU, you have them propped up because youβve been told they should win the national title by media people who you donβt know their motives. You ignore the fact that LSU lost four games this past season, where the golden child threw three interceptions, and the quarterback youβre worried about in Marcel Reed about led their team to 31 second-half points. Itβs just a miserable way to be a fan and a miserable way to analyze football. Again, I'm trying to apply the same microscope. To me, the teams are LSU, A&M, South Carolina, Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oklahoma, maybe Auburn and Missouri even. I just named nine of the sixteen teams. Iβd put Alabama in there, too. They lost three in the regular season. Put those ten teams out of 16. I have Georgia and Texas, not that much above them. So little that I donβt think those will be the two teams playing in Atlanta. All of them have question marks. Very little of it has to do with the past. Mike Elko has been here one year. This is year two. Compare his first year to every other coach and their first year. We can do this all day, Dave, but if youβre going to be that miserable all the time, find a collective group of miserable peopleβ¦ Contrary to popular belief, you can find them on TexAgs. Those are the guys I see coming, and I get as far away from them as possible. Itβs people who want to make fun of people with optimism. It's like youβre the gatekeeper of hope. It's like how dare you talk about CJ Carr vs. Reed? Again, this is a thing where Dave can take this and go, βSee. I was right.β No, youβre not. Weβre acknowledging that it's certainly possible, but any of them can go 7-5 to 9-3. Someone in that group will go 10-2 this year. Last year, it was Tennessee. They werenβt much better than anybody22 points

Regarding QB, there's also something the mods, specifically Kurelic, are being vague about, something associated to Sayin isn't tough enough. They keep talking about the other guy "giving you more physically in the backfield". I assume that's a toughness and not an athleticism slight at Sayin. Maybe I'm off there, though. Regarding this depth that they keep talking about on defense "at every level", a lot of it is completely unproven. They return Styles, Downs, and the Human Pass Interference Penalty at CB (I don't remember the dude's multi-syllabic name but it starts with an "I"). The DTs played a little, but didn't start, and there is zero depth here. The DEs, the same, except for Atkinson at UNC and he's apparently underwhelmed and may not even start. The LBs outside of Styles were backups, with Pierce? (from somewhere around DFW, I think) being a guy emerging. Same for the other Safety spot and Sanchez threatening the second CB role as a true freshman. So, they are for sure talented. They're also far less experienced on the defensive end than the Texas defensive side. Of course, they don't play each other, but it's a point of measurement/comparison for me. Offensively, they are also less experienced than the UT offense, which is somewhat absurd. They have Tate, JJ Smith, Klare (@ Purdue), the Rice LT (they fully expected him to start and if he doesn't, it isn't because someone else is a budding star), one other OL and Donaldson (@ WVU). The TBs may or may not be underwhelming, but they're being pushed by Bo Jackson, who is apparently looking like a potential star. The biggest mismatch going into this game is the Texas defensive front against the OSU OL and whoever the new QB is. Yes, there are mismatches, some serious, elsewhere in each team's favor. That given, the Texas defensive front isn't just deep, it's hugely talented. Future NFL high round picks and picks are going to be rotating and fresh. OSU is struggling to figure out their OL mix and they're damned sure not gelling yet. Neuheisel keeps saying that both coaches are going to be "playing away from their QBs" in this game due to inexperience and the fact that each team is likely fielding another top 5 national defense to open. I agree with this view. I plan on writing a thread looking at things more deeply as we get closer to the game (no mudhole), but this is what I'm thinking and taking in from their experts and insiders. I never took Kienholz seriously as a threat to Sayin, but Day and crew sound legitimately concerned about Sayin opening up against Texas.18 points

Plus when you do stupid shit like type "fvck" you are not being any less profane than if you had just typed the word correctly. The entire point of words is to communicate an idea to the reader or listener. When you type "fvck" the reader knows exactly what you meant and interprets it accordingly. It is still profane, it is still cursing. Literally the only thing it accomplishes is making you look like a pussy.14 points

Jesus Christ, Derka. You know, you can be absolutely right about Quinn Ewers sucking dick and still be an irritating titty-baby of a person on this thread, right? They're not mutually exclusive. You're not a "victim" because you voluntarily post on a message board, and not just any message board, the Football board, where stupid posters and shitty takes are literally the oxygen everyone must breathe here, and have people disagree with your takes. Just post the fucking screenshots and say "Now who wants to fuck with Hollywood Court?" A thread of BO&W and Derka circle jerking each other about how bad Quinn Ewers sucks dick might be the worst concept of a thread this board as ever imagined, and this is a board that had a pederast and serial felon posting about parking and towing in Austin for over a year. Something I have been struggling with is where to draw my red lines and how to react when theyβre crossed. Prior to Jan 6, I was not really that worried about how the Trump/MAGA movement would play out. I considered it temporary and ineffectual, at least in the long term. The Insurrection on January 6th 2021 was the first time I felt truly worried about how this was going to go. But Biden took office and things seemed to settle down. Trumpβs re-election was yet another turning point for me, as it showed that the pendulum wasnβt really swinging back the way I thought it would and that the Trump/maga craziness wasnβt going away like I expected. Now there are loads of things happening that I never could have imagined. Masked men in unmarked cars kidnapping people off the streets. Far right state governments gerrymandering at the behest of the president. The president deploying federal troops to take over a city against the wishes of local leadership. When do we decide enough is enough? And what do we do when that line gets crossed? I canβt believe this is where we are. I know one clear red line for me would be Trump running for a 3rd term; I will NOT stand by and let that happen and would risk my life to prevent that from happening. But Texas redistricting mid-decade for the sole purpose of handing Trump full control of congress for 2 more years also might be a red line.12 points

Another day above ground is great, but it's even better when I read articles like the one spoilered below and realize how happy I am to have always hated the sooners. This article attempts tout Jaren Kanak as some sort of revelation in the TE room since they gave up on him as a LB after last season. Highlights: -He likes to play dirty. Kendal Daniels brags on Kanak's ability to take cheap shots long after the whistle. The money quote from this genius? "You've got to play a little dirty at times." Boy, truer sooner words have never been spoken. Daniels may have started off as a Cowboy, but he's fully embraced his inner sooner clown. -Kanak is small for a TE. 6'2", 233, but he and his mouthbreathing postion coach, Ol'Joe Jon Finley, are talking that up as "leverage" in taking on larder defenders. Uh huh. -This guy is wathing film, guys. He's in there, watching and studying, watching and studying. He also was known for that at LB. In fact, it's one of two things he was known for at LB - the other thing he was known was getting into games and constantly being out of position, often running in the opposite direction of the play. -Totally unrelated and not mentioned in this article but might be something to watch - multiple notes from media viewing in the first week of workouts included Kanak running the wrong routes on various plays at TE. -This is the kind of shit we'd have to cling to when the program was bottoming out under Chuckles - a position switched 5th string TE is "really starting to come on due to athleticism" in a room full of absolute trash. The OU TE room this year is going to look like Bill Bedenbough's ass pressed firmly against a mirror.11 points

OK here we go. Hatch Green Chile Relleno Fest 2025 is in the books. We do this at my parents' house every year, and we had over 20 people between adults and kids, my full extended family on one side. This year we made two kinds, one stuffed with cheddar cheese (which is my dad's traditional version from west Texas) and one stuffed with pecan-smoked pulled pork. I of course had to be a rebel and made a few stuffed with BOTH! Step 1: Chiles fresh from the roaster, getting a cold water bath, and then ready to have the blistered skin peeled. This was an entire crate, something like 20 lbs of peppers. Somewhere between 80 and 100 maybe? After being peeled, first tray set aside for de-seeding. This was just one tray, there were 5 or 6 of them. Pecan smoked pulled pork, and cheddar cheese, ready to go as the fillings. The cheese-stuffed ones have been filled, and now they're going through an egg wash and then seasoned cornmeal, ready for the fryer. The fryer: A finished batch of cheese-stuffed: A finished batch of smoked pork: The final presentation with both kinds, plus the salsa pura for topping (made from green chile, onions, and tomatoes), a little cotija for topping, and some esquites. And my first plate, with a couple of each kind plus one of my combo rellenos, some Mexican rice, some beans, some esquites, the salsa pura, and some green chile salsa Dona. Oh and a blue margarita, my dad's specialty. Delicioso!11 points
