  1. As a fan of Longhorn football, it’s hard to overstate how perfectly the last five years have gone off the field. No longer being the single big fish in a shitty pond, guaranteed annual games with our three biggest rivals for the first time in 35 years, the incredible development of our NIL program… it’s just a really exciting time to be a fan of this program, especially when contrasted to where things were a decade ago. Now let’s start piling up some trophies.
  2. They’ve literally announced this week that they’re going to start ensuring that they review the entirety of a team’s performance against schedule. I don’t know why it took this long, but we’re moving there now. One thing we haven’t discussed but it was clear to me listening to Finebaum’s interview with Sankey yesterday, is that these guys have numbers now that are beyond compelling directionally. It’s obvious, but for some reason it hasn’t been to everyone. Big games and big matchups drive interest and value. Of course. Beyond that, however, is the opposite, and that’s getting really understood for the first time. The shit games against shit opponents devalue brands and discourage interest. There were more than 10 SEC vs FCS games last year with under 100,000 viewers allegedly. The only reason to have those was for schedule manipulation that the league supported. They’re no longer going to support that. I’m not saying there will be a mandate, there might be, but there will be ramifications at every level. If Texas is 9-3 with an OOC loss at Notre Dame and ATM is 10-2 with OOC wins against bumfuck u, stumblefuck u and last chance u, and worse losses in conference, ATM isn’t going to get any friendly pushes. That’s where Sankey thinks this is rapidly heading and he’s admittedly driving it there. He flat out said he wants every P4 scheduling other OOC games against P4s, which is why the SEC created their own mandate. They’re looking at adding some other conferences and teams as “preferred” in another tier as well, per his own words. They see the light now. Bigger games lead to bigger dollars, every week of the season.
  3. Any Texas "fan" who advocates for giving up our 2026/27/28/29/32/33 P4 matchups should be stoned to death. Texas needs to schedule a legit 2030/31 home and home with someone from the ACC and reiterate we ain't scared to play anyone.

First, they came for John Bolton and I said nothing because fuck that guy and may the leopards feast on his ugly face and grotesque mustache. Then it occurred to me that these assholes aren't going to stop with John Bolton.

Saw this yesterday on Reddit and it made me laugh.
  7. Not to derail, but is a common thing people do? Not watch all Texas games in their entirety? I watch and rewatch and rewatch again like the Zapruder film.
  8. Haven't you ever been talking to someone who says they're a big Texas football fan and realize pretty quickly into the conversation that the two of you have different understandings of what that actually means?
  9. Going to go out on a limb and guess Sark does, in fact, care more about winning games than having a 1000 yard rusher.
  10. E Hogan on ESPN radio this morning (paraphrasing): "Really love going from eight games to nine games in conference play. We'll get 16 more games in the SEC!" I'm thinking he doesn't understand that it takes two teams to play in a game.
  11. Our three rivals are obvious and I don't give a single fuck about anyone else's three rivals.

  13. Texas walked in, looked around and said "what is this 8 game pussy shit? And FCS teams on your schedule? What kind of bullshit you got going on here?" and the SEC quickly capitulated.
  14. I'm ... not sure LSU won the title in 2005, my man.

    Can't stop laughing....
  16. This is the worst "i never thought this would happen to me" story ever, but I had a disagreement at a hotel bar last night with a Gator aged about 35-40 and an Aggie about 30ish. Can't say it was an argument because I didn't let it get that far. 2 dudes sitting next to me at the bar were talking about Arch. One guy saying he's really good, and another saying he's not any good. I weigh in that if nothing else he is way more athletic than Quinn and I think that will help because much of the OL last year got drafted. Just trying to keep it high level. We exchange pleasantries, and 1 guy is a Florida alum (guy singing Arch praises) and one is Aggy (Arch sucks). About 3 minutes later these dudes have shifted the conversation to the SEC has negotiated a 9 game schedule. I say "9 game conference schedule, and I don't think that is finalized". Aggy and Gator are quite sure it's 9 games total, and they start googling. I'm laughing, and Gator asks me "why are you so sure you're right?". I answer "I'm not really sure how to respond. I follow college football. They aren't shrinking the season from 12 regular season games to 9. Too much money at stake." It went back and forth from there with the Aggy reading me an article that was clearly talking about conference games, but they both interpreted as total games. I laughed as they told me I was clearly wrong, and I told them "Cool. Enjoy the reduction in football revenue while everyone else makes more money." They got up and left, and the last thing I hear is "go gata!". Fucking idiots.

  18. Kansas, Northwestern, Rutgers, Cal, and Stanford's phones have been ringing off the hook with calls from the 979 area code.
  19. Imagine crying about our schedule after decades of yawn-inducing bullshit in the Big XII. Now that we live in a world where 3 loss teams can make a college football playoff, I want Texas to play as many big time programs as possible.

If it wasn't clear that's what I meant by "rigged up some bullshit to justify the raid on Bolton." Also for the 'fuck Bolton' crowd, sure, yes, absolutely...but this is a raid on the rule of law and you don't have to like Bolton to see that. Not shockingly, it's being reported the raid is based on alleged possession of 'classified documents.' Shoutout to Dotard's bathroom. edit - it will be interesting and excruciating to see the fallout from this on the right wing, non-trumptards.

  27. Do people not watch the other games in a given day? I mean, I get it if you have the dreaded fall wedding or kids sports events or whatever, but blocking out a nice Saturday to just watch all the games is so much fun. If we're blowing out SHSU in the third, I'll just drop in on the other games during the commercials or mostly switch over if a good game is close.
  28. Not to mention playing that Alabama game in 2023 is what got us into the playoff in the first place.

  38. I knew a family that used his techniques. He suggested to name a stick or belt something like the “rod of discipline” and leave it on the kid’s dresser as a “sign of authority.” Really whack shit. The kid I knew turned out all kinds of fucked up. And my dad spanked, but that kid was getting whacked for all kinds of petty shit. They’d tell him to go get the “rod of discipline” or “belt of correction” and go to town. FWIW shortly before I had my first kid, my dad said “I won’t tell you how to parent but I don’t think spanking helped you and I did it because everyone told me I needed to. I wish I hadn’t.”
  39. Get the fuck out of here with that nuance. It is not appreciated and frankly pretty jarring.
  40. Nope. Irregular entry is a misdemeanor or felony depending on circumstances. Overstay or unauthorized work, etc. is not a criminal offense. But there is a flip side to the coin: removal, visa revocation, denial of status is not a judicial punishment and the level of due process and burden of proof is much lower. When review is needed, you go before a special administrative judge and not to criminal court. My own stance is pretty simple: removal to a prison in a third country is clearly extrajudicial punishment and prohibited. The CECOT shit is outrageous. Expedited removals, visa revocations, toughening asylum criteria and similar tactics are not punishment and it’s squarely within the remit of the executive to do it. The level and approach to enforcement is a question for voters and Congress to address if they choose. Conditions at detention centers while waiting for removal are a clear human rights and likely 8th Amendment issue.
