I assume that in the presence of another device which could track them, the chip in the ball could be tracked to provide the data described?

You are correct that another device is needed to collect any data. Nfc (near field communications) chips like these only have a range of a few inches as far as I know though.

It's a very clickbaity headline

This tweet got me thinking more about an underlying problem with our current state of partisan bullshit.

Trumpkins and GOP hardliners, including those currently working in D.C., have absolutely zero expectations with Trump as a human being. Deep down they all know he is a piece of shit, but it truly doesn't matter to them. They don't care how the sausage is made, as long as they get their piece. On the flip side, they assume/expect liberals to be sincere and honest, and pounce when anything negative happens (Whataburger coke guy, Odessa waiter that lied about racism, etc.). I know Surly isn't a good barometer for national discourse, but all the Trump supporters on here disappear when something negative happens with Trump. Then they pop their heads in over one piece of "good" news or to disparage some "libtard" that went viral over some idiocy.

In the current landscape, the majority of Republican voters hold liberals to a higher standard than themselves. It's so fucking pathetic.

Twitter don’t owe you shit!

This lady’s account spreads Trump propaganda and misinformation 24/7 on Twitter.

It is her job but still, fuck her.

Twitter is limiting the visibility of prominent Republicans in search results — a technique known as “shadow banning” — in what it says is a side effect of its attempts to improve the quality of discourse on the platform.

The Republican Party chair Ronna McDaniel, several conservative Republican congressmen, and Donald Trump Jr.’s spokesman no longer appear in the auto-populated drop-down search box on Twitter, VICE News has learned. It’s a shift that diminishes their reach on the platform — and it's the same one being deployed against prominent racists to limit their visibility. The profiles continue to appear when conducting a full search, but not in the more convenient and visible drop-down bar. (The accounts appear to also populate if you already follow the person.)

Democrats are not being “shadow banned” in the same way, according to a VICE News review. McDaniel’s counterpart, Democratic Party chair Tom Perez, and liberal members of Congress — including Reps. Maxine Waters, Joe Kennedy III, Keith Ellison, and Mark Pocan — all continue to appear in drop-down search results. Not a single member of the 78-person Progressive Caucus faces the same situation in Twitter’s search.

“The notion that social media companies would suppress certain political points of view should concern every American,” McDaniel told VICE News in a statement. “Twitter owes the public answers to what’s really going on.”

Presented with screenshots of the searches, a Twitter spokesperson told VICE News: “We are aware that some accounts are not automatically populating in our search box and shipping a change to address this.” Asked why only conservative Republicans appear to be affected and not liberal Democrats, the spokesperson wrote: “I'd emphasize that our technology is based on account *behavior* not the content of Tweets.”

Twitter directed VICE News to a May 15 blog post that explained the company’s new approach to combating “troll-like behaviors.” After making changes to its platform, the company said that “[t]he result is that people contributing to the healthy conversation will be more visible in conversations and search.”

I noticed this yesterday when searching for Cernovich and Posobiec. They weren't on the drop-down search box, but would show up when you actually hit the search button.

Twitter said it would hide accounts that spread bullshit.  As a result, a lot of Republican accounts were hidden.  This isn't rocket science, nor is it politically motivated.

The replies, OMG:

Ummm, note to you Josephine Goebbels, Dear Leader is doing exactly what you're accusing social media of doing! So, as usual, take several seats with your daily barrage of lies!!!

I think the situation is more akin to the fact that nobody likes you and the only reason people follow you is to watch you end your political career covering for a Russian agent.

Did you suppress your maiden name for anyone?

Bot-ulism is a terrible disease. They’re curing you.

The notion that you could look at yourself in a mirror should concern every American.

It’s so many hundreds of scandals ago, but I recall that it was common knowledge that trump recorded guests phones at his resorts/buildings

(CNN)First lady Melania Trump will watch "any channel she wants," according to her spokeswoman in an apparent rebuke to the report President Donald Trump was upset to find her Air Force One television tuned into CNN.

East Wing communications director Stephanie Grisham told CNN Wednesday everyone should be focusing on the issues the first lady is seeking to highlight, such as neonatal abstinence syndrome, rather than what television channel she's watching or a tape of her husband discussing a payout to a woman who claims to have had an extramarital affair with him.
