Has he even been mentioned or implicated in any of the stuff that went on there? Don't think so. Good enough for Arkansas to hire but not us? gtfo.

I guess you'd prefer we stoop to the standards of Arkansas now. Got it.

Thank God they finally have somebody to help with special teams.

Funny that we went from having some random drunk bum off of 6th street “working” with ST to having the last 2 ST coach of the year winners as well as a former D2 HC that prioritized ST and now they are bringing in ST analysts... it’s almost like ST is an area of emphasis for Sark

Pete Carroll traded up in the draft to select Michael Dickson. He is a big special teams proponent.

Elite coaches know you can win a lot of games with solid special teams.  We were great in the Mack years because we could block punts and return kicks/punts with regularity.  Charlie and Herman had special team fuckups so much.  That's why you lose close games.

You just look at the ulcers Charlie's "special" teams gave me...

I could never figure out how Charlie’s ST could suck so bad here when he came from Meyer at UF and they were pretty damn good on ST at Louisville...

Here is a scary thought, think about how the ST would be the last decade if we didn’t luck into an all world Aussie punter...

Hughes is out. From Burton:

Spoiler

Inside Texas has learned that Drew Hughes is no longer expected to become the director of player personnel for the Longhorns under coach Steve Sarkisian.

Hughes, previously the player personnel at South Carolina, was expected to take the Texas job before NCAA compliance at Texas did not clear him. Hughes was at Tennessee for a couple of years and the Volunteers are currently going through an exhaustive review process with the NCAA.

Arkansas had also shown some interest in Hughes but he is actually expected to land in the NFL.

While there will be many possibilities for Sarkisian to choose from, expect the solution to be a disciple of Ed Marynowitz. Marynowitz is considered the dean of college football player personnel departments, revolutionizing the position in college sports under Nick Saban. Marynowitz now works for CAA super agent Jimmy Sexton and ostensibly helps coaches fill out their personnel staffs.

CDC is doing nothing but taking input from pencil pushers in compliance and adhering to their fear-mongering. The NCAA doesn't enforce a motherfucking thing these days and the Hughes guy is precisely who Texas needs in order to establish an ability to "compete" with what is happening in College Station, Columbus, Athens, and across the rest of SEC/ACC country.

Blind support for an AD is not merited. This guy has done everything wrong since December of 2019 when he refused to dump Herman on his ass and hire Campbell. He got pushed around by Herman and the SJWs this summer, he embarrassed himself during the coaching search in the fall, stepped on his limpdick with the his flaccid vote of confidence, okayed on multiple occasions the hiring of Mike fucking Stoops and now he's blocking a key role from getting filled with a perfect candidate because he's yet again following a path of least resistance and letting pussies tell him how to think.

Fuck giving this guy the benefit of the doubt.

In fairness, if a show cause was going to be slapped on him not much could be done. May be why his next stop is nfl and not college

It would have been a bigger deal if he was heading to another program. We can always bring in someone for a few years, then go get him down the line if he’s not hit by the tenn fallout.
It’ll be interesting to see who we get in his place.

The worst part about it is not having a DPP for even longer than it’s been already.

Or hear me out, he was not implicated or mentioned in the Tennessee stuff, is good at his job, and is going to the nfl because of that.

our administration has some weird holier than thou shit that is going to put us behind in the behind the scenes race

Not saying you are wrong but if true that is beyond baffling. Certainly doesn’t reconcile with previous hires like Casey Horny. I also recall the d line coach under Charlie that ultimately ended up with a show cause and had a stop here, if memory serves correctly.

I think CDC is far less worried about compliance than some of you think. We signed Ibraheem earlier today - didn't we?

And I don't think we would take half of Bama's staff if we weren't about playing the game...

We’d be beyond hypocritical to sign a kid caught selling a substantial amount of Xanax pills in a high school (Leiteo) and then refuse to sign a kid caught riding in a stolen car just a couple years later. Especially now that Ibraheem’s charges are dropped.

Fair is for a pig auction and a pie eating contest. Any other use of the word or its variances is meaningless. Del Conte squats to pee. That's it. Also, if a guy gets a show-cause, you fire him after making use of him and move on. The reason why Texas wouldn't is because Texas doesn't understand how it is currently perceived on the college sports landscape and naively thinks that that would be the reason why people would mock the program or judge it.

That’s fair.
