There’s no “other bs” that a Texas head coach has to deal with that other prominent programs don’t have to deal with. It’s the same at Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State yet they don’t have down seasons.

This game was a Sark special. Lose the TOP game, lose the penalty game, have no understanding of playing complimentary football.
I wouldn’t mind us taking a step back with all we lost. I do mind us having the exact same problems we had in year one with him. He doesn’t seem to have any ability to find deficiencies and fix them.

And regression each game. Sark is too stubborn and/or stupid to adjust to your team’s deficiencies.

What makes Lanning "the guy" again? Doing the cutthroat thing while coked up on the sidelines? He and Sark have roughly equal resources and neither have won the big one (although Sark has come closer).

Barring the wheels completely falling off, Sark has built up enough good will to be here at least through 2027. Doesn't mean there aren't better options out there (there usually are), but that's the reality.

Well, in Lanning's case, he is 40-6 as a head coach.  Those 6 losses have come to Ohio State (the eventual national champion whom he beat earlier in the season), twice to Washington (National Runner-Up), Georgia (National Champion), Washington again, and Oregon State.  There hasn't been a single loss to a non-Top 25 team, and over the last two years, all he has lost to are the teams playing for it all at the end.

I mean unless you think we are hiring a guy who has already been to the mountain top at this juncture he's about as close as you get.

Nicole mentioned it in the game thread. It appears he filed for divorce in July 2024 and then "they reconciled". So I strongly suspect it is true. I imagine you could go dig up the court filings if you really wanted confirmation.

Someone needs to write a “fictional comedy” with our cast of coaching characters over the last 30 years.

chardonnay drinking drive around in a convertible asshole who was fired and who’s subsequent team pulled a mutiny on the bounty on his ass.

a middling game manager with cookies and orange slices who leaves teams a shell of itself like a vampire when he blows town leaving the cupboard bare but just loves for kids to have fun.

a mid-tier clueless doesn’t even know his own zip code type who looked so lost in games one wonders if he accidentally pierced his brain with that finger cleaning out his ears.

a coked up hand grenade who could beat OU banging crusty Jewelry store lady and whose wife almost opened an airplane door mid flight to Mexico and who had to be watched by campus police just in case. Who got fired from his last and likely final HC gig. And who had on his coaching staff a coach who clogged up a recruits toilet on the recruiting trail

and Sark. Whose first year here started with a coach on his staff’s girlfriend named the Pole assassin who’s monkey bit a child in a maze on Halloween who wasn’t impressed with doctors of neighborhood. Like how did we expect this to turn out man.

It doesn’t matter who the big money donors want next. This could be an epic comedy with the shit they have already done to us in 30 years. Thank god for Colt and for Vince. Because it could have been a whole lot worse.

You left out David McWilliams…

we need to throw NIL money at Heidi Fleiss so she can coach our BMD WAGs, right now multiple iterations of our coaching staffs do what their WAGs dont.

So he wins when he has a clear talent advantage and has mixed results when he doesn't. Sounds familiar.

I wish we had “mixed results” when the talent is similar.

aggy has found their HC. And Elko is good coach. His weird matches their weird and he knew how weird they are and wanted to come coach there and they barely laid out the welcome mat for the guy. Damn. But gladly cosplayed robbery victims to Jimbo Fishfood merely bc he won a natty (totally Winston) and he nearly killed all of aggy QBs during his robbery stint there with his vanilla playcalling trying to be both HC and OC.

Sark has mixed results when we don’t have a talent advantage?

Aside from the first UGA game, every game we've lost the last 3 years has been in the margins. Some of that is on Sark (goal line playcalling comes to mind). Some of it has just been bad luck (Auburn choking in the SECCG). I wish he were Saban but he's not (neither is Lanning btw).

Baxter and Gibson were top ranked backs in their class

So now we're all sad that Oregon has that sweet Phil Knight money and we're lumped in with the poors?

Texas is just a cautionary tale here. Other schools can win shit with the same amount of money or even less money. We cannot win with our money. This is a good teaching moment for students. Sometimes throwing a lot of money won’t fix the problem. Especially when the people throwing out the money cannot figure out that they don’t need to be in the room when coaching decisions are made. But hey our BMDs gonna BMD. Not for nothing but if I was a big money donor I’d get sick of all the wealthy dudes from other schools who have won MNCs in the last 19 years calling my school soft and a joke behind my back. But maybe our big money donors like that? They must like it or like Jerruh Jones they only care they get to pick the HC. In short they must only care about winning if it’s winning with their handpicked science experiment.

Could we say he’s also lost to teams with lesser talent?   His game vs asu was also in the margins

I'm talking roughly equal talent. If you want to split hairs, tOSU was more talented than Texas last season.

To be clear, I'm not happy with the results this season. Not addressing the OL in the portal was inexcusable. Does that mean we burn it all down and go after the newest shiny object? I'm not there yet.

I don’t know anymore man. Tech has had its best start since 1953. Elko hearts aggy. He came back for them. So I guess in your scenario Elko is like Cameron in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. and aggy is like his first true football love.💕

Watching a banged up SF play and beat the Rams with Mac fucking Jones (a major reason Sark was hired as we know and touted a QB whisperer—course this was as an OC sitting in the mother fucking booth—and coordinating for Nick fucking Saban before NIL) I was feeling some major envy. About Shanahan. Dude even WR’d here. He’s a Horn. He has proven he can make Brock Purdy, Jimmy Grabaho and Mac Jones look amazing. I wish fixing our issues could  be as simple as just convincing Sark to get in the booth. But it’s not.

Maybe 🤔 those of you who have played at the QB position can say: but is it helpful to have the person calling plays on the sidelines (1) not take into account what you do well (2) not see what the defense is doing because he is on the sidelines (3) absolutely will not take what an opponent’s defense gives you (4) has NOT addressed glaring problems with the O-line.

I am genuinely asking. If a HC is doing 1-4 above how well could you play as a QB? Wouldn’t you get injured a bunch? Wouldn’t you start rushing thru your progressions or holding onto the ball? Wouldn’t your fundamentals start to suffer bc you can’t even trust the play calls? Or your oline? Doesn’t Sark being Sark make it almost fucking impossible to be his QB? When he’s not solely responsible for being an OC calling plays up in the booth? How well did his other QB’s at Washington and USC pan out?

I wish we could solve this. But the writing on the wall that this would happen has been tattooed in many ways in the past 5 years: poor development of Ewers and Arch. Coming out flat after a bye many times. Oline issues. Play calls that a 5 year old could predict. QBs getting injured unnecessarily. Penalties for days. Shit red zone presence particularly the last 3 years and honestly if it were for the athletes and a bias to Texas we don’t make the playoffs. Does anyone remember rooting for Rock Chalk a few years back to decide our fate. Or leaving it up to committee. Cuz I fucking do. Damn.

$15 million team. Ohio state spent $20 million and won. Miami seems to be on that trajectory. We have the money to buy anyone we want. What would sark look like if we didn’t? Penn State and Franklin with it have a ceiling. Sark’s floor is about to hit his ceiling as it has done every stop he’s had as a HC.

It doesn't matter if Sark has an OC or not, if the Offensive Line can't run block!

If you can't run the ball, you lose.

Well it might because a real OC could you know call more HB passes, quick hitters, etc. but instead let’s continue calling long developing plays knowing said line is ass

Everything we run is slow developing. Looks like shit. It was painful to watch other teams after our game. Their backs hit the hole and get upfield. Their QBs frequently throw quick-hitters. We wait for the defense to smother the play, then hand off or throw. Sarkisian has to make changes.

Then if we can run and aren’t going to call many running plays let’s replace the current Oline with the running back room. Maybe this will help. Whoever is playing QB next weekend is likely going to be severely harmed if OU v Auburn is the blueprint next Saturday. Damn. We cannot really quick fix Sark’s issues in one week to a level that we would all like to see so what can be done so we don’t have one or possibly two QBs killed next weekend? I’m not kidding. 6 sacks today from a shitty Florida squad. Jammer tweeted the oline was like traffic cones and then apologized for insulting traffic cones,

outside of giving our running backs something to do and telling sark we are suspending him for depraved indifference to attempted murder on our QBs if he doesn’t get his fucking ass up in the booth to call plays what else can be done right now? Forfeit like aggy? I mean there aren’t any other options. The staff seems incompetent on this side of the ball and that all flows from Sark. And sark’s mediocre record as a HC. If no changes are made between now and next weekend I expect bad things happening to what remains of our offensive weapons and our QBS
