The fact that Sark saw this OL and didnt go after help in the portal is really damning. He clearly can’t evaluate talent and that’s a killer. With UT’s resources, you should be able to get the talent here.

I think a shutout is on the menu during the backend of our schedule, and no, we aren't playing defensive powerhouses

We will make UGA and Kirby look like they’re an NFL team going up against a D3 squad when our offense is on the field.

you hire a top young OL coach / evaluator

Texas football has all the money, no excuses here

Seriously … who do they run this BS offense against all week in practice that validates the strategy and concepts?

Gotta be air, because that oline isn’t blocking a good 6a team.

Sark is dealing with baby mama drama.  He divorced Loreal in the offseason but then didn't all of sudden because she was pregnant.  Loreal has Steve all kinds of effed up.  I don't think Steve thinks about football much these days because his baby mama is going after him.  If you don't agree, then you don't know how a woman can completely ruin you.

Well, that and he is absolute shit at offense game plan creation, offensive practice plans, offensive game plans, talent development, talent evaluation, alignment to players abilities, adjustments to defensive game plans, half time adjustments, QB development and head coaching. But otherwise, you're correct, it's all about his wife not his ineptitude at coaching.

Yeah becoming a dad again at 51 while leading one of the true blue blood programs after you had filed for divorce is just a recipe for bullshit distractions.

Let’s just say for arguments sake this is factual.  Then this is why you hire damn good assistants and you delegate like Saban would do.    If he delegated the offense to capable assistants including an OC, then he can deal with the personal issues better.

We can wish all we want.  He’s not hiring an OC.

Well, unless CDC forced him to do so. Otherwise, it will ultimately lead to Sark eventually getting fired after sending our program back into the shitter. It's one or the other and the second puts CDC's job in jeopardy. Most men rarely endanger their own pay check when they can force action upon other in order to avoid said jeopardy.

Sark has a way, and only one way. And when he has the players across the entire offense, it's pretty spectacular.

When his players aren't good enough to execute his one way, he'll continue to do the same thing. And it's shit. That's where we're at now.

I guess only losses count as big games

I know the talent isn’t the same but sark had things humming in bama.

And USC. Because he had one job. Now he's trying to do two. Head coach or OC, pick one or gtfo.

Except it is not spectacular even with great offensive players when the team he faces has equal level talent and competent coaching.

I submit, Georgia 1, Georgia 2, OSU 1 and TCU as on going evidence.

That said, good coaches evaluate talent and do not lose to shitty teams then nearly lose to another shitty team because the offense their fielding can't manage 50 yards rushing or any sort of OL production.

He also wasn't responsible for all the talent evaluation and development. Nor was he responsible for practice or development. He also didnt decide on all his staff under those HCs.

He's a shitty OC. He needs to figure out how to be an HC. He can't do both.

Against P4 teams this year we’ve scored 7, 21, 23 and 16 points. His offense is absolute dogshit and his seat should be getting very warm. We saw Franklin go from 3rd ranked to shitcanned in 15 days. No reason Sark shouldn’t be making changes right now.

We may be able to avoid consistently living in Seven Win Steve land because we can pay players now and should reliably reel in top tier talent, but we will never win anything of note with Sark. This isn't an up and comer struggling against an established dynasty before breaking through, this is year 5 of undisciplined, lifeless offensive football on the field and on the headsets. There is more of it this year than there has been in recent years because the talent isn't as good, but it's always been there and always will be.

Until tonight I always said there's no such thing as a bad win on the road in conference play. Firsttime for everything. We deserved to lose (Kentucky's coaches and players were absolutely robbed by their football terrorist coaching staff) and a loss would have been better for the program in the long term as it would have laid bare the issues with Sark in a way losing to Ohio State, Georgia, or even Florida doesn't.

Painful but truth hurts and these echo similar sentiments I expressed in the game thread. Sark isn't even at Franklin level of incompetence and he really is just another in the long line of also ran coaches at Texas. I hope getting a competent OC in to evaluate, recruit and develop talent, create a functioning game plan, align to defensive plans and figure out how to actually field a consistently good offense will fix the issues. However, knowing that Sark ran a "NFL style" off season, based on ongoing penalty issue doesn't seem to believe in accountability aspects of coaching and doesn't seem to have a killer instinct make me think like most coach staff changes, it's just a bandaid and delay of the inevitable.

Hope I'm wrong and CDC makes the call sooner rather than later, but I dont think I am.

If we fired Sark, who would we even legitimately go after?

and if he gave up play calling to be more of a just a CEO HC, who would we go after for OC?

Look at the current top 10 or last years play off teams. There are maybe 3 coaches that wouldn't move for the right money.

As for OC, same except that number drops to 1 or 2. There are a ton of good OC options out there and Texas can fucking afford them.

The whole "Sark needs to hire a OC" thing is a really daming indictment of his performance - thinking we'd be better off if he stopped doing the one thing that really defines him as a coach, his supposed strength that got him the job.

You'll notice I didn't call for his job. I'm not advocating we fire him now, not seriosuly anyway. He just signed a huge extension with huge buyout and he has legitimately earned some grace by raising the floor in a major way and bringing success not seen around here for a decade plus. He has earned the right to keep at it barring a meltdown the likes of which still seems unlikely this year, so I fully expect and understand we're going to be here for several years until it's obvious we've leveled off at 8/9 wins. But I had a feeling last year, and it's certainly solidified now, that he'd never have a consistent enough team to get through an SEC schedule with a playoff caliber resume, maybe get to Atlanta, and go rip off 3-4 straight wins against CFP level competion. His teams are just too undisciplined and inconsistent to believe they will maintain the level of play needed over that long of a stretch.

No he wasn't.

He just had a more talented team and a QB that learned the game under a different staff.

He sucks at his job, baby mama shit has no meaningful effect on that reality.

I know. They didn’t tonight either. Niblett was our offense tonight. It’s pathetic.

That would be pathetic enough, if you meant Niblett on offense. Our offense was punt returns.

Oh, he meant Niblett was our only offense on punt returns. At least thats how I read it, mostly cause that is the reality.

It's easy to look like an offensive guru with a team full of 1st rounders at WR, RB, OL, QB with the support of Saban defense.  Has Sark ever done anything meaningful with a below average roster?  He was just 7 win steve until he got to Texas and got incredible money support right at the dawn of NIL.

Short answer.

Nope. Never. I looked up his past, all his games, bowl games.

This is who he is as a HC.

Outside of the one Bama game he has always lost to equal or more talented teams with competent coaching.

Once, ever. I can show my work if needed but not tonight. Its a computer sort of post with copy and paste for stats and shit.

He used to have a few head scratchers per season from what I remember.  He tried his best to eat boogers this game but big dick PK wouldn't let this pussy lose.

Yeah, until this year he's been more consistent beating teams he should, usually convincingly and losing to equally talented teams. Which... given he has actually gotten worse this year, particularly offensively, when its all his players.. is actually cause for more concern not less.
