Banks cant coach

I  dunno what we've all been complaining about so much here. Dipshit announcer says Sark is one of the best playcallers of his generation, and Banks is one of the best ST coaches in the country. We must just be stoopid.

Yes we are beating a better than their record says Arky team with one functioning RB at home. Sark is totally safe. 😉

Arch is for real and at least he isn’t draining our money collective. Not taking one penny from it he just making money off the endorsements he and his family went and got. Arch should drag his balls over everyone in the arch thread who had the audacity to blame this season on HIM when he is actually HIM and Sark is the one who decided to suck in 2025

i hope everyone in the Arch thread smells like a ball sack all week. He started poorly but why is that? Could it be our dumbass coach didn’t do anything to addresss anything before the season started?

arch thread people deserve this. Just as much as the Sark defenders do, it wasn’t Arch’s fault. And yes I know he okayed fucking poorly to start the year. But apparently some of you don’t see a connection or correlation between that and Sark’s whatever the fuck he’s been doing or not doing.

I have rarely if ever criticized the players in my entire posting history, I was wrong to criticize Ewers as I did. I admit it, but damn if people can’t see that it is the high paid coach’s responsibility and the buck always stops with him y’all living in la la land.

I took a ton of grief for “stanning” for Quinn haha. I too blamed the players tho, I thought his guys around him were letting him down too often. Turns out the entire offensive staff sucks shit though a straw at development and game day coaching. Unbelievable.

Yeah I broke my code with Quinn. I regret it. He wasn’t the problem. He got screwed by the problem and dropped to the 7th Round bc of it. Arch isn’t the problem. Yes he played poorly early and we all know this. But you see him shine now and it’s like ok…

it’s hard not to be mad at the staff but what can we do about it? Nothing. If Sark stays we have to hope we won’t see 2025 again. If sark goes we have to hope it’s done swiftly and well and we don’t see much attrition. What happens to Arch regardless? Cuz he’s gonna be a monster next year. Imagine him with an actual running game and Oline? Damn.

No doubt, they are talking about the "This is Who Steve Sarkisian Is" thread on Surly.

He will certainly be under the “hot seat” moniker with a year older Arch, Buckeyes at home and in his 6th year at the helm.  Should be a year he breaks through, I’d take F4 as the floor

I do think we should fire Akina and make Mack leave Austin with him.

The Akina hire is a huge ding on Sark.  that tells me you aren't prepared for coaches to leave and are just winging it.  Just like CDC has to have a list of coaches at the ready in case one leaves or has to be fired, Sark is the one who has to have a list ready for his assistant coaches at a minimum.

Going to have a very inexperienced interior OL. Better get some OL worth a damn in the portal this off season to have a shot next year.

Remember when half the message board idiots wanted to move VY to wide receiver? These are the same folks who don't realize it takes a little experience to get really good at this game.

It’s why I am still pissed at myself for breaking my personal code of criticizing players, I did with Quinn. I am still mad at me. Unless a player is a total asshole/fucking off on the field on purpose I typically do not comment on players. It has always been my contention that most all of it flows from the top down. From the HC down. And I blame the HC or position coaches and not the players. Yeah there are a couple of rotten apples 🍎 but by in large when I watch teams fight in the trenches with each other (Texas Tech is a good example—when they targeted the portal they wanted people who had been team captains—they wanted generals on the field at key positions) I get frustrated. The lack of discipline comes from coaching. The penalties and so on. Former UT players calling out our dudes saying they are just there for a paycheck. It’s the culture Sark said he wasn’t worried about—well it flows from him. IMO.

On topic of Sark: he seemed unenthused? I mean saw his comments right after the game on the field and this is a man with a LOT on his mind. Did anyone else see his demeanor and remarks? It was just like he couldn’t wait to leave the field. You see PK animated and into every aspect of the game and we weren’t great on defense but Sark just looked done after that game. I’m just going by my observations. Which could be total shit too. Just wondering if anyone noticed this.

I only observed Sark in his usual squat, staring at his laminated play sheet.

Yeah, Sark looked like he definitely wasn't fully focused on football.

Of course.  Hopefully Sark will learn from this season, with the portal, always have to work it and then some.

defending Quinn the last two years was a fucking beat down. Just think if we had competent offensive coaches. Shit.

I honestly didn't get it. It seemed really obvious to me. I mean, people came to that conclusion pretty fast this year when the problems were a carbon copy of last year. The literal exact same. Can't run the football on top teams and busted protections because of project players on the line as well as asking them to do shit they couldn't do.

Only difference is Quinn was seriously hurt because of it and last year a strain or tear in his core.

I mean, he had a chance the last two seasons….

Sark seemed exactly the same in his post-game press conference as he has in any one I've ever seen him do. He sounded the same when he was on the radio with Craig Way and mentioned his wife makes a great side for Thanksgiving that he's looking forward to eating. He'll be the same on Monday when he has his press conference. You guys are yet again reading way too much into something.

Yes. And I tried to stay out of that thread. Did make shit comments. @Thatguy knows fucking football. I knew it within 5 mins of meeting him at a surly tailgate. And ya need to do podcasts man, seriously. You know your shit.

I am just fucking frustrated. We have a lot of really good pieces in our puzzle damnit. And it’s like this year was squandered in a way it should not have been. I expected growing pains and mistakes and interceptions and that kind of shit. If this were a season of a show: I wouldn’t watch but about 3 episodes of season 5. It’s that fucking bad. We should not have been that fucking bad. It’s on Sark. It didn’t have to be like this.

he is extremely talented but it’s like he has his relationship shit last year and then I hear all sorts of shit via up to his old stuff like he was at Washington and Nansen and so on. Doesn’t he know at 51-52 he cannot have fire water? He cannot hold his fire water? So why play with fire? He doesn’t need this outside extracurricular shit like he’s in his twenties. I know Lane does all kinds of shit too. But he can hold his fire water. Sark cannot and it’s like just like with his stubbornness on play calling he cannot see that. Damn. The recovering alcoholic hurts in me but I figured out after being sober nearly four years and no alcohol that i can never ever ever drink again. And it’s like he thinks he needs that fucking edge or something. And it becomes sloppy. Like some people can drink socially and I know I cannot. He cannot. He knows what happens when he does and it’s just sad and infuriating. But when he nearly wrecks basically a $30 million dollar team because of it—it’s like wtf? No way to fix it. No assurances it can be handled next year or the next year. And it’s bleeding over into our team in a totally unprofessional kind of way. Damn.

Actually, I read an article recently that claimed Kiffin has been on the wagon for a while now.

I'd link it, but I forgot where I saw it. Now Joey Freshwater is into hot yoga. Read into that what you will.

I think it's relatively simple.  Sark's had a lot of success here, and with the high-ranked classes, two CFP appearances/final four, Arch in the wings, an able assist from some less than ideal coaches, and maybe some personal distraction, Sark thought he had it knocked.  The machine was rolling.

Obviously, he did not.  And I think he was every bit as shocked as all of us who swallowed all the 995 bs.

That says something not great about Sark, I guess, a bit of arrogance, some inexperience playing and winning at the highest levels in the current environment, etc.

It's really all in how he recovers from this.

Which position groups do we need to bolster via the portal for next year to be his best roster? Feels like almost all of them
