Watched this last night. It was cool seeing Colt break down Arch's abilities and how well he'll fit in Sark's system..

If there's one guarantee ld QB that will success in college no matter where went, it's Arch.

Buechele would have been fine here these last couple of years. Like a poor man's Dillon Gabriel. Ash.... who knows what he would have turned into without the injuries. Gilbert would have been a clear downgrade from Ewers.

Let me know when Ewers becomes a Super Bowl champion!

Swoopes would have had the freedom to develop into a premier TE under Sark too

The fact that he was able to do it at all in the league says enough

Tend to agree.

sam was a beast but he throws the deep ball worse than Quinn. Shane would be interesting in sark offense but I bet he would be hurt like ewers also. to small.

Sam’s deep ball was so bad, it would have been perfect for X to run and catch up to it instead of jogging for Quinn’s under thrown deep balls.

Honestly, I think Buechele wouldn't have been too bad in Sark's system.

And Shane would have been great in this office. His deep ball was great and he could run without doing it like a battering ram the way Sam did.

Quinn is fortunate he was able to come to Texas with the system Sark was putting into place. I don’t think we would have fired Herman if Quinn didn’t tell him and Texas to fuck off until they got a real coach.

don’t know if he has more success but the deep balls would have definitely been better.  100% chance of that.

And for this, we forever owe Quinn a debt of gratitude.

The entire line of thought was stupid. Ewers has played with more NFL talent, than any QB at Texas. (see the likely back to back years of set Texas draft records).

The response of how is Sam doing now with NFL players is next level bad.  Pretending that being surrounded by NFL players in the NFL is the same as being surrounded by NFL players in college is just stupid. Reason #257 to close this thread

Yeah, close up shop. Whatever transcendent talent Quinn possessed appeared to neutralized by the Dallas Turner pile driver.  He was still one of the best to do it here in quite some time and is a really young guy. David Ash in retrospect looks like the best prospect of the Texas QBs of the last 15 years. He was big, fast, huge arm, and would take huge developmental leaps each off-season. He also seemed to really love football. Quinn never seemed all that interested in the result of a game. David would have gotten it done. I think Sam would have gotten it done, it’s not like the ‘25 offense was some high flying aerial assault. I think Shane would have a had a shot too in a revised down field version of Sarks offense.

PMSD (Post Mack Stress Disorder) seems to have blocked most of my memories of David Ash.  I think 2012 was his only full season as a starter -- he played here and there his true freshman year in 2011, and got injured very early in 2013 with Herp Derp at QB the rest of the way.  I do remember Ash was nails in the game winning drive in Stillwater in 2012, including a huge 4th down conversion to keep the drive alive.

As the only person here who has spent time w Quinn, I can assure that this is incorrect.

If American carriers had been in Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th, we would all be speaking Uzbek today.

Carriers or no, if Yamamoto had the sense to take out the fuel tanks, the Pacific war likely would have been quite different.

Yamamato did have the sense to take out the fuel tanks and probably would have done so if he was involved in the actual battle. It was Nagumo who commanded the carriers in the attack and turned out to be a pussy and ran for home.

Even if they had destroyed the fuel tanks, the war might have been different but not significantly so. For context, the US started the war with seven carriers and ended up with an astounding 105!

On a side note, killing Yamamoto in '43 might have been a mistake by the US. His handling of the war was so poor, it might have been better to keep him alive! For example, he used his super battleship Yamato as his headquarters, so it sat in Tokyo Bay for the entire duration of the war until the very end, when it was easily sunk.

You say that like that specific thread derail is somehow diminishing the overall quality of the primary topic in this thread.

It is not.

Well, if Adolph hadn't decided to put the "do not disturb" sign on his bedroom door and sleep in on D-Day things might have been a little different too.

No way that invasion was coming to Normandy anyway.

On the other side of the coin, if Hirohito hadn't decided to stop playing God and speak to the Japanese people and surrender unconditionally. Japan would have been glowing for the next hundred years from all the radiation.

It is not entirely correct to put the full weight of an unwillingness to surrender entirely on Hirohito. The partnership between Japan and Hitler wasn't purely military oriented. There were a lot of cultural similarities specifically racist and a believe in superiority. While the Japanese culture is a top down, follow the leader then, and even still in many ways today, the Japanese people had bought in to the superiority belief. They, broadly speaking, were, culturally, ready to fight until every last Japanese citizen was dead because they could not lose. They couldn't lose because they were superior to all others. Kinda like how that one poster views QE as superior to all players all time and any failings land squarely on his teammates shoulders.

All that said Im not a Japanese historian. I am happy to hear any clarification or error points on my understanding from anyone who is such an expert.

Quinn is not Japan.  He couldn't run a QB sneak much less sneak attack Pearl Harbor.  I guess he isn't America either.  America threw two long bombs against Japan.  Quinn throws wounded ducks.

Is there a WW2 thread on surly where I can learn more about Quinn Ewers?

Not currently but there is a Ewers thread where you can discuss WWII and Japanese culture. Also, there is an Xavier Worthy thread where you can discuss specifics aspects of domestic abuse, laws and behaviors. There's a Deion Sanders thread where you can discuss racists and racism. There's a Cowboys thread where you can discuss depression, hopelessness and other psychological issues. There's a Mack Brown thread where you can discuss revisionist history.

So, I mean, you seem pretty well covered but who doesn't need another WWII thread where we discuss Quinn. You should start one up amigo.

I remember when the Tate Martell thread evolved into a discussion of women's fashion. That was the day I realized I'm the brightest guy around here, and it's not even close.
