Quinn sucked but heaven forbid an NFL WR catch the ball.

Are we really doing this? I saw 2 drops and a lot of skittish vibes in the pocket.

Clearly we are. Seems.... familiar some how...

I agree with 2 drops.

2 catches in the air in a dangerous space offset those a bit IMO.

I'm very glad it's 2025 and that shit is not our problem anymore.  He's a fucking tease. has the throws, but just can't get it done when the pressure is coming at him like that. better or worse WR or not. furk.

no doubt a great throw. add Bama 2023 too. probably OU as well (not his fault our D couldn't hold OU).  Go back and look at my posting during last season, I was team Ewers (and I knew who he was then). Whole body of his work at texas though - now that it's over - many more times than not looked like today. clutch throws then wtf.

It is pretty wild to think 3 years ago at this time we were convincing ourselves the primary reason he needed to be our starter was because he was going to open up the deep passing game.

3 years later and your jaw almost hits the floor if he throws a catchable pass over 30 yards.

Just an odd career arc. All the usual nice statements apply (won a lot of games, had some great moments, good teammate, good Longhorn). Unfortunately, the NFL doesn’t care about any of that.

He’s playing with guys trying to make the team too.  Some starters are in street clothes in the sideline.  Like the Cowboys yesterday!  Ain’t no way in hell that I’d pay 50 to park, $$$ for say two tickets, plus concessions for that shit show of no names.  Yes, the uniform/brand was on TV and that’s why I tuned in for the 1st half, but by mid 3rd, I decided I was better off searching for something on Netflix.

Arch Madness has not truly arrived at Texas

We are still in our Quinncholia phase

I suspect this thread will go on for a while when Arch starts Arching. A lot of folks still wonder why Arch didn’t get the nod at Georgia 1 for the rest of the year. It's remains a valid question.

So much wasted talent the last 2 years because we kept rolling Ewers out there. Both semifinals were there for the taking late but he pissed down his leg both times. It's a shame Sark didn't stick with Arch when Ewers got benched in Georgia game 1. Ewers is lucky our defense was lights out last year because finish with about 5 losses if not.

The thing that was always most maddening to me about Quinn is that he was basically the same QB at the end of 2025 that he was at the beginning of 2023. Surprisingly little improvement other than losing the mullet. In his first year he looked great at times (Alabama before injury, OU) and looked like dogshit at times. Fast forward to his third year and its the same thing. Look at the stats of some of the other QBs drafted (Ward, Dart, Sanders) and note that their stats show improvement year after year. Quinn actually regressed statistically last year. I don't know if that's an indictment on QE, Sark/staff, or both. If we see steady improvement out of Arch, I'll guess we know.

I have a new theory based on the definition I see in my own triceps and quads. I'm not sure QE knew how to find the weight room. he never really looked much different year to year. shit I've been lifting consistently 2x a week as a middle ager solely for health reasons not for high end competition for 6 months and I look totally different, there's no way he leaves the program after 3 solid offseasons looking like a normal guy. Arch on the other hand is already QB ripped. I think QE just didn't put the time in on the foundation in the off season to get better. I think it explains why he's slow, injury prone and seemingly not very strong.

I could be dead ass wrong. but that's my theory.

Sure. We will win back to back titles with Arch and all of surly will instead be fretting why it wasn’t 3 in a row.

Honestly, if that happens then it's a valid reason to fire Sark and find someone better at evaluating QB talent.

Only 2 championships? When we could have had 3? We really deserve better.

I won’t go so far as to say back to back titles but I have a feeling we’ll see a much more prolific offense this year and wonder what could’ve been had Arch remained the starter when Ewers recovered from his injury.

Went to the Dolphins subreddit to read up what they think. They are being surprisingly even handed about Ewers. Talking how he showed some talent, that the OL and WR didn't do him any favors, that it's his first NFL game. I'm not sure what to make of that, because Ewers was also playing against back ups. I guess everyone is willing to be more patient with a 7th round QB.

But man, do they fucking hate Zach Wilson.

This is my opinion of his performance. The ball security and pocket awareness problems are expected because that’s what Quinn does. But, to be fair, he actually pushed the ball downfield multiple times, put guys in pre snap motion, and made some good throws.

Not to mention, with Arch, the defenses had to respect him as a runner. This opens the field up even more. Defenses weren't worried about Ewers ability to take off.  Arch will be able to make more out of a broken play as opposed to Ewers self-sacking himself and making his OL look worse than it was. The problem is, will the defense be as good? We got away with winning games with junk offense and long scoring droughts. Because the defense did their thing. The games that come to mind right away is Arkansas, Florida, aggy. Ewers did his best to give away the aggy game. That should have been a straight up route. A 4 score plus win. But it became a nail biter solely because Ewers. Defense made 2 monstrous 4th down stops that changed the landscape of that game. Also, Arch accounted for one of the TDs. Georgia SEC title game was a terrible game for him, too. So glad I don't have to watch him for a team I root for.

The last 2 years was the best we've had talent wise since the 2005-09 years but pissed 2 winnable semifinals games.

The backup QB is usually serviceable to dogass so I'm sure they'd rather roll with Quinn since he's much much cheaper.  I was disheartened with his performance, but more so because of the lack of ball security.  The other stuff could be a myriad of factors.  Not familiar with the personnel, serviceable OL, adjustment to the speed of the game.  Oli Gordon looked like a steal which isn't a surprise.  I hope Quinn improves for his next opportunity.

He has some weird aversion to just planting his foot in the ground and not lobbing the ball to his target. That will never change.

Think Dallas Turner had something to do with that.

He played like a boss in that game. He was an uninhibited competitor up to that point.

that end of second half drive was some of the worst QB play you'll ever see.

the door was wide open and Ewers blew it. He'll get more chances but not many.

Zach Wilson has no business in the nfl. I don’t understand how he continually gets picked up. He must have dirt on people. That’s the only logical conclusion.

If Zach Wilson has no business there then Quinn should have gone straight to being a guided hunt rancher because he's more ass than Wilson

I only got to see what I'm guessing were his last two plays and had to turn it off. My stomach is still queasy from the knowledge of what could have been... A magical miracle Natty season where a young QB comes off the bench and, riding on the shoulders of an amazing Defense, shocks the world. A story for the ages. Preventing that from happening will be Quinn's legacy here at UT - although Sark gets a healthy share of the blame.

Quinn was a nice guy, but showed no improvement in his time here. Kept getting injured. Couldn't make the big play. Based on what I saw, we may never again see Quinn in a football uniform. He was lucky to spend his best days in football at UT. Very lucky. Time for everybody, including Quinn, to move on.

Honestly, not a bad career option for him.
