Arch Madness has not truly arrived at Texas

We are still in our Quinncholia phase

I suspect this thread will go on for a while when Arch starts Arching. A lot of folks still wonder why Arch didn’t get the nod at Georgia 1 for the rest of the year. It's remains a valid question.

So much wasted talent the last 2 years because we kept rolling Ewers out there. Both semifinals were there for the taking late but he pissed down his leg both times. It's a shame Sark didn't stick with Arch when Ewers got benched in Georgia game 1. Ewers is lucky our defense was lights out last year because finish with about 5 losses if not.

It is pretty wild to think 3 years ago at this time we were convincing ourselves the primary reason he needed to be our starter was because he was going to open up the deep passing game.

3 years later and your jaw almost hits the floor if he throws a catchable pass over 30 yards.

Just an odd career arc. All the usual nice statements apply (won a lot of games, had some great moments, good teammate, good Longhorn). Unfortunately, the NFL doesn’t care about any of that.

The thing that was always most maddening to me about Quinn is that he was basically the same QB at the end of 2025 that he was at the beginning of 2023. Surprisingly little improvement other than losing the mullet. In his first year he looked great at times (Alabama before injury, OU) and looked like dogshit at times. Fast forward to his third year and its the same thing. Look at the stats of some of the other QBs drafted (Ward, Dart, Sanders) and note that their stats show improvement year after year. Quinn actually regressed statistically last year. I don't know if that's an indictment on QE, Sark/staff, or both. If we see steady improvement out of Arch, I'll guess we know.

I have a new theory based on the definition I see in my own triceps and quads. I'm not sure QE knew how to find the weight room. he never really looked much different year to year. shit I've been lifting consistently 2x a week as a middle ager solely for health reasons not for high end competition for 6 months and I look totally different, there's no way he leaves the program after 3 solid offseasons looking like a normal guy. Arch on the other hand is already QB ripped. I think QE just didn't put the time in on the foundation in the off season to get better. I think it explains why he's slow, injury prone and seemingly not very strong.

I could be dead ass wrong. but that's my theory.

Sure. We will win back to back titles with Arch and all of surly will instead be fretting why it wasn’t 3 in a row.

Honestly, if that happens then it's a valid reason to fire Sark and find someone better at evaluating QB talent.

Only 2 championships? When we could have had 3? We really deserve better.

I won’t go so far as to say back to back titles but I have a feeling we’ll see a much more prolific offense this year and wonder what could’ve been had Arch remained the starter when Ewers recovered from his injury.

Went to the Dolphins subreddit to read up what they think. They are being surprisingly even handed about Ewers. Talking how he showed some talent, that the OL and WR didn't do him any favors, that it's his first NFL game. I'm not sure what to make of that, because Ewers was also playing against back ups. I guess everyone is willing to be more patient with a 7th round QB.

But man, do they fucking hate Zach Wilson.

This is my opinion of his performance. The ball security and pocket awareness problems are expected because that’s what Quinn does. But, to be fair, he actually pushed the ball downfield multiple times, put guys in pre snap motion, and made some good throws.

Not to mention, with Arch, the defenses had to respect him as a runner. This opens the field up even more. Defenses weren't worried about Ewers ability to take off.  Arch will be able to make more out of a broken play as opposed to Ewers self-sacking himself and making his OL look worse than it was. The problem is, will the defense be as good? We got away with winning games with junk offense and long scoring droughts. Because the defense did their thing. The games that come to mind right away is Arkansas, Florida, aggy. Ewers did his best to give away the aggy game. That should have been a straight up route. A 4 score plus win. But it became a nail biter solely because Ewers. Defense made 2 monstrous 4th down stops that changed the landscape of that game. Also, Arch accounted for one of the TDs. Georgia SEC title game was a terrible game for him, too. So glad I don't have to watch him for a team I root for.

The last 2 years was the best we've had talent wise since the 2005-09 years but pissed 2 winnable semifinals games.

The backup QB is usually serviceable to dogass so I'm sure they'd rather roll with Quinn since he's much much cheaper.  I was disheartened with his performance, but more so because of the lack of ball security.  The other stuff could be a myriad of factors.  Not familiar with the personnel, serviceable OL, adjustment to the speed of the game.  Oli Gordon looked like a steal which isn't a surprise.  I hope Quinn improves for his next opportunity.

He has some weird aversion to just planting his foot in the ground and not lobbing the ball to his target. That will never change.

Think Dallas Turner had something to do with that.

He played like a boss in that game. He was an uninhibited competitor up to that point.

that end of second half drive was some of the worst QB play you'll ever see.

the door was wide open and Ewers blew it. He'll get more chances but not many.

Zach Wilson has no business in the nfl. I don’t understand how he continually gets picked up. He must have dirt on people. That’s the only logical conclusion.

If Zach Wilson has no business there then Quinn should have gone straight to being a guided hunt rancher because he's more ass than Wilson

I only got to see what I'm guessing were his last two plays and had to turn it off. My stomach is still queasy from the knowledge of what could have been... A magical miracle Natty season where a young QB comes off the bench and, riding on the shoulders of an amazing Defense, shocks the world. A story for the ages. Preventing that from happening will be Quinn's legacy here at UT - although Sark gets a healthy share of the blame.

Quinn was a nice guy, but showed no improvement in his time here. Kept getting injured. Couldn't make the big play. Based on what I saw, we may never again see Quinn in a football uniform. He was lucky to spend his best days in football at UT. Very lucky. Time for everybody, including Quinn, to move on.

Honestly, not a bad career option for him.

This clip brings back terrible memories. Is there any QB that collapses the pocket by himself like Ewers?

i got yelled at two days ago for saying that his pocket presence and footwork are terrible. in fact i was told that neither of those things was even true. weird.

he leaves high school early so he he can go get paid, finishes like 5th or 6th in tOSU qb competition, learns nothing, shows up to Texas overweight and unkempt, and doesn’t even begin to take himself seriously until his third year of college. then even once he does start to take himself seriously he proves himself to still be overrated, to still be wildly inaccurate, and oh yeah, now we can see he’s scared to death of getting hit, because *shocker*- the rich kid who never got hit in HS and never took his body seriously gets injured easily. he was surrounded by more nfl talent than any qb in america over the last two years and QE couldn’t even be a mediocre qb, ranking 200th nationally and 12/14 in the sec last year. according to PFF. Quinn Ewers: Squanderer of Talent and Opportunity.

he might end up being the poster boy for the cautionary tale of selfish bag chasers in the future. by the time he actually started taking himself or his craft seriously it was too late. now he’ll never get the real bag, that second nfl contract. he won’t even come close in fact, and frankly he should not even have been our starter anymore after his early season injury, so he’s lucky to have even had the college career he did end up with. this guy was born on third base, thought he hit a triple, and then couldn’t even make it home on a fly out to the warning track in right. maybe next lifetime he’ll just stay humble and work hard.

huge money there for real

I mean if he banks his NIL from tOSU and from Texas he could coast for sure, but guiding isn't huge money.  not like long term NFL contracts, UT connections / real estate deals, investment banking, etc.

deflect all you want, if you didn’t want this outcome then y’all shouldn’t have talked all that shit. i’ve taken more abuse in this thread for being right about quinn ewers than most people do here for being wrong about anything. fair’s fair. if im gonna spend three years being yelled at over my accurate takes on quinn ewers then its my right and obligation to throw it right back in your faces. don’t like it? don't talk so much shit, especially when you’re in the wrong.

i searched “jordan whittington” within this thread because i specifically remembered being shit talked for saying that whittington would stick in the league, and that quinn wouldn’t.

also, how you think that the fact that i was 100% right with my takes in 2023 (and before) is some black mark against me, and not an indictment on the blind, fanboy nature of this thread and this fan base is wild. it only further proves that everything about ewers was obvious years ago, and yet not only did y’all go apoplectic whenever i confronted you with reality, many of y’all still can’t bring yourselves to see the truth. so thanks for pointing out just how long ive been the only one here who actually knew what he was talking about.

He's gonna do it again. Fuck up another thread. He lives for this shit.

i live for what? having dozens of you shit-talk me for years, only for me to be proven right, again?

first off, y’all act like this is some thing that’s totally unique to me- having others eat crow when they attacked you for your takes which were ultimately proven right. it’s not.

second, and more importantly, this website loves to say “FAFO” and “don’t start none won’t be none”, until it’s you all who fucks around and then has to find out. i’m not the one who made this personal for years on end. if you people don’t want to have to eat crow, you shouldn’t have talked so much personal shit towards me, especially when i was right. sorry, im not even a little bit sorry. you don’t get to shit talk someone for years and then act like he’s the bad guy when he says, “yeah actually i was right all along.”

what world do you live in? again, you act like this is unique to me. like i’m the first person in the history of the internet to bring up other people’s terrible takes and have them eat crow. like that’s something totally unique to me. it’s not.

and again, you don’t get to come after me for years on end and then complain when i return fire. that’s now how the world works. you don’t get to go after people and then cry about it when they respond. put me on ignore if you can’t handle it.

edit: lol or just keep being a giant baby and negging all my posts.

If you're going to have two shitty backup QBs, might as well go with the cheaper one.

I would guess they are looking for a veteran cast off at this point.  That don't want either of them as QB2.  They would probably cut Wilson and keep Ewers as a cheap development guy.

Jesus Christ, Derka. You know, you can be absolutely right about Quinn Ewers sucking dick and still be an irritating titty-baby of a person on this thread, right? They're not mutually exclusive. You're not a "victim" because you voluntarily post on a message board,

you have got that right, i am absolutely no victim, so i have no idea where you’re even getting that from. i’m taking you all’s shitty takes and personal shit talk and i’m flinging it back at you. is that what a victim does? takes shit and then gives it right back?

no. a victim whines, and cries, and makes mountains out of molehills, and lashes out at people for the most benign shit ever. hmm. who here is acting like a victim?

They could put him on the practice squad. I don’t think he’d get poached onto another 53 man roster.
