Brysten Martinez, OT, Gonzales (La.) East Ascension - *LSU commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
Where it stands: Texas has their work cut out for them should Lane Kiffin announce he's headed to LSU in a week. But, Texas seemingly has a better shot on the surface with Martinez than Richard Anderson. Made OV with his mom.

Kaden Scherer, OT, Georgetown (Texas) High - *Stanford commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 3-star++
Where it stands: This one isn't cut and dry on the flip due to being a Stanford commit. But Texas has true proximity on their side. Made OV with his family.

Below, kind of sets a framework for what we should expect as a team over the next 4 years. The staff doesn’t think it is a problem, but I do. We would have 2 spares with Scherer and Wright. We would have an athletic, skilled undersized tackle who will need to move inside for the NFL. And we have a solid interior lineman. That my friends is absolute crap recruiting  for a team that has title aspirations. We have 2 guys for 5 positions as long as neither ever gets injured or misses playing time.

I don’t like this post. I wanted to be unreasonably angry. Therefore, I’m going to ignore this and label all these 3 star flips as failures before they step on campus.

If you didn’t have a problem with those players a few months ago, you shouldn’t have a problem now. The one guy who didn’t put out good senior tape, we let go.
Focusing on small changes from the dorks at 247 is stupid. Everyone with any knowledge on the subject already knew the upsides and potential downsides with John Turntine,  247 dropping him from a 94 grade to a 93 isn’t the thing that should set you off, unless you’re a moron.

Well, we’ve recruited nothing but large humans for like 5 years. Apparently most of them suck. So maybe recruiting some guys that aren’t too big to move their feet will be a nice change of pace.

I’m also curious why a staff that previously only recruited giant ass dudes are so high on a short tackle that weights 265lbs. But wrf do I know

My thoughts about arkie last night after the commentators were gushing over their size— great, a bunch of stiffs with very little bend or lateral quickness. Flood’s wet dream.

West Coast recruiting guy for On3 on Rocky Cummings

Great visit for Cummings and safe to say Texas is in a VERY good spot. He still needs to talk with Cal coaches and wants to wait until after his Championship game on Tuesday to put anything out so look for an announcement from him sometime Wednesday.

That kid from Duncanville may be available soon, but he will probably end up at LSU.

I'm gonna be pissed if this is just about the Minnesota RB.

The JAG from Georgetown that’s committed to the Gophers? They have an absolute stud committed currently from El Paso but we haven’t been after him because we have a horrible RB coach. I wouldn’t trust his evals at all.

So the Minnesota RB coach made a good eval with the Mexican dude and a bad eval with the white dude?

They took Walker as an insurance policy and short yardage back. He’s unanimously rated far, far below Estrada and is just wanted to eat up carries and be used on the goal line. But Choice sees a guy like that and sees an every-down back.

Glad to see, after all those top 5 classes turned into the shit we saw this year, that there are still nutjobs here willing to waste time following this garbage. Bravo to you.

So, we looking like shit recruiting this year?

This is a board filled with people that were here during the Strong and Herman tenures. We aren't pussies like the football board.

Afternoon Recruiting Update

By Bobby Burton

1. Early last week, I mentioned there was some good recruiting news headed the way of the Longhorns that no one was really talking about at that time.

Absolutely nothing has changed in that regard; in fact, it was only further solidified yesterday. The only thing that has been fluid is the timeline of the recruit in question.

2. Georgetown running back Jett Walker is a lifelong Longhorn fan. How much so? He told CJ Vogel that they played The Eyes of Texas at his grandmother's funeral.

3. California linebacker commitment Rocky Cummings looked even better in person than some expected. Unlike Florida State linebacker commitment Karon Maycock, who the Longhorns brought in for a visit but eventually chose not to pursue afterward, Texas is poised to pursue Cummings further.

4. As Gerry has mentioned, I'm told whoever the future HC at LSU is will impact the ultimate decisions of both defensive lineman Richard Anderson and offensive lineman Brysten Martinez.

5. Gerry also mentioned that Vodney Cleveland visited North Carolina again yesterday (the Tar Heels lost to Duke). He was not the only Longhorn commitment visiting elsewhere. Offensive lineman Max Wright visited SMU. Wright is expected to be at the Texas-Texas A&M game on Friday.

Carlton is fine - He's big and athletic with decent stats: 54 tackles, 38 solo tackles, 5 sacks, 2 caused fumble, 4.9 tackles per game.

Update from IT on 2026 guys

Inside Texas delivers the latest from last weekend’s official visitors and where the 2026 class sits weeks from NSD in Monday’s Scoop.

Richard Anderson, DL, New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr – LSU commit

Catching up with sources, it appears the Longhorns shot their shot with the five-star LSU pledge. Anderson enjoyed the trip, interacting with coaches and staff, and seeing the game atmosphere.

I’m told Anderson is likely waiting to see who LSU hires as its new head coach before making any decisions. With National Signing Day looming, this recruitment is one to monitor closely.

Brysten Martinez, OT, Gonzalez (La.) East Ascension – LSU commit

Martinez and his mother thoroughly enjoyed their Austin trip, sources tell IT.

But this is a complicated recruitment in that there are different factors on and off the field. His proximity to Baton Rouge isn’t as his important as proximity to his family. I’m told if Martinez did flip, there’s a good chance some of his family might move to Austin too.

Right now, its LSU or Texas. And the Horns continue to recruit and evaluate the Uber athletic four-star OT.

Kaden Scherer, OT, Georgetown (Texas) – Stanford commit

I like Texas’ chances of flipping the Cen-Tex three-star. He told Inside Texas we could see a decision over the next few days.

Rocky Cummings, LB, Carlsbad (Calif.) – Cal commit

I love the chances of flipping the Cal three-star LB commit. We expect a decision on Wednesday for the West coast senior riser. He’d be an excellent floor joining Tyler Atkinson and Kosi Okpala.

Josiah Vilmael, DB, Richmond (Texas) Fort Bend Travis

Texas really likes the Fort Bend product, who took his official visit to UT this weekend, but we believe they want to see Toray Davis before waving anyone in.

Toray Davis, CB, Boulder (Colo.) Fairview – UCLA commit

Davis rescheduled his official visit to Austin for this weekend for the Texas A&M game. We can see Texas taking one of Davis or Vilmael.

Getting ideas that Cleveland might bolt for NC. Hope I'm wrong.

As they just lost to duke and the “best coach of all time”’s 24 year old girlfriend is suing Pablo torre. Clearly the focus of that household is UNC football. That must be some good NIL money Mr. Cleveland. Austin will provide much better long term success
