National media starting to notice he sucks ass.

Dam Wentzel put this out tonight:

“So far, we’re simply not getting the quarterback that was advertised by his name, his pedigree and Texas’ public confidence in his abilities. If that doesn’t happen for Manning — and soon — Texas is going to fall off the national radar as quickly as any preseason No. 1 in recent memory.”

Dan Wolken, but you were close.

Arch makes plenty of money to where he could hire his own personal trainer to help fix his issues.  If he's already doing that, he should demand a refund.  If he hasn't hired anyone, then he's a dumbass.

Huh, I always of thought that's what our coaches were supposed to do. I guess Arch can outsource it, but if that's the only way he gets better we're fucked far beyond Arch's time here in Austin.

It’s time to let someone else get some reps. Arch is broke. It’s obvious. If this was Case McCoy or David Ash or Jerrod Heard or Richard Walton, the change would have been made.

Who?

Christ Arch looks totally broken right now. I didn’t think there was any way this would happen, but it has…

In retrospect, all we had to base this on was $9.95 and we have repeatedly fisted ourselves by evaluating ourselves by $9.95.

How should we know? But arguing that no one better is on the roster at the moment is an affirmative claim that of the four rostered quarterbacks, none are capable of completing basic slants, screens, outs, and - well, just about every conceivable throw on the field - whether covered or wide open. Nor are they capable of recognizing wide open receivers, even when that receiver was the first option and they're staring right at him. That's the current situation with QB1.

Lacey being told, "throw to option 1 , or throw it away" would yield better results than what we're seeing with Arch.

It bears repeating that Vince sucked at this same point in his career at Texas.

I don't think Arch is going to get super-accurate all of the sudden -- do QBs ever? -- but like VY he has a very high ceiling and has only started less than half a season.

Chill, hope he steps up, and pray like hell we don't have to scramble for our next QB.

Not against cream puffs like SD St. & UTEP.

Arch seemed accurate last year

Lacey would get fucking killed and be a turnover machine with this oline and wr group. Caldwell is the only real option and he was already turnover prone playing against a bunch of scrubs. There’s not another option on the roster at the moment. It is what it is

I'm not advocating for him as next man up, just highlighting that I honestly don't think it would get much worse. The o-line does suck, but there were plenty of plays where Arch had time and a pocket and missed his receiver by 3 yards.

To be fair, Sam, LHJ, Collin Johnson, and DevDuv make this passing attack look FCS caliber.

I was just saying it when I commented on the Aggies with Craver and Concepcion, I don't know why Sark hates the Herman WR so much when the worst case scenario is the mess we are currently in.

You mean we don’t have a Nate Hybl or Caleb Williams to come off the bench?

John Chiles is not walking in that door.

Garrett Gilbert it is.

If Texas were playing a legitimate team today, they would have been forced to throw the football. If Manning is playing this poorly when they go up against OU it looks like Caldwell might give them a better (Small) chance to win the game. Before this week I woud have thought that was crazy talk.

At no point did Vince ever suck. He wasn't perfect. But we never saw anything like this putrid performance.

Garrett Gilbert was significantly better than Arch has been.

Missouri and OU 04 was back to back, the fanbase was almost unanimous about benching him or moving him to WR, not me of course.

He also showed flashes of greatness in pretty much every game even when he struggled. What has Arch shown us?

Because he threw 13 TDs and 8 INTs in the sunbelt.

Well, this QB put up the following stats in the Sun Belt last year, and is one of the top QBs in the SEC this season.

55.9%-3003-23-14

59-207-3.5-2

No he wasn’t. Stahp

Garrett Gilbert made bad decisions. He could throw a slant. He could hit a receiver standing still 7 yards away. Arch can't. We beat Ohio State with GG level QB play.

Those were offensive failures. But Vince still flashed in both. Arch has been so much worse against fucking UTEP than Vince's worst game.

I disagree man it was BAD 0 points vs OU, and I think 1 TD passing and 1 catching vs Mizzou.

Texas leaned on the Zone Read after that and rest was history.

Then you're wrong. Our offensive game plan sucked against them. But Vince didn't look incapable of playing on at a D1 level. Arch would be benched from an FCS school.  Again, it was fucking UTEP.

I mean Vince's mechanics were never 5 yards off, but it was horrible for sure, we need to change the offense just like we did back then.

No, it doesn't bear repeating because Arch isn't on some inevitable Vince Young trajectory.

And the issue is that Arch is regressing.

Vince played as a redshirt freshman. He was still raw, but also improved. He was 11-15 for 135 with a TD and Int and ran for 58 in his first college start at Iowa State. Each year he got better.

Arch looked pretty good against ULM and awesome against Mississippi State last year. But now, looks like he has barely played high school football. He looks so much worse than he did last year.

Maybe it's a case of needing to let Arch be Arch. I think something Sark is doing or someone is doing with Arch is not working. It's making things worse.

Whatever it is, something is very wrong.
