we can’t afford him, idiot.

Nice stadium design you fucking Arky moron.

If you re referring to the blazing sun blasting thru the west doors, Jerry refuses to pull the curtains.  I’m amazed the networks haven’t taken a stand on late afternoon games and forced him to pull the curtains.  They are there, too to bottom.  When they do concerts they make the stadium blackout if they want covering all the exits etc.

We have gotten our ass whipped 3x in a row at home now. 2 times this season and the GB playoff game. Found someone post these stats. Fucking putrid.

Averaging giving up 40 points a game
Averaging giving up 202 yds per game on the ground.
Opponents have scored 17 TDs against our Defense in this 0-3 stretch.
Opponents have scored on 22 of 27 possessions in those last 3 games at home.

Dallas is staring a top 5 draft pick in the face.  A team who isn't run by an Alzheimer's patient would take a DL with that pick.

So Mel kiper went on a rant about potentially banning the two high safety look because it's forcing teams to have to run the ball which is making the NFL boring.

While I don't agree with that, it does underscore a major problem with how the Cowboys are constructed. If the two high safety look is going to force teams to run the ball much more than in previous years, then having a running back worth a damn and an offensive line that can get a push is more important than a $60 million decent, but inconsistent and inaccurate quarterback.

The Cowboys are built completely wrong as an offense to punish the teams that want to play two high and limit their passing game. That's forcing an inconsistent quarterback to have to drive the field with a lot of short throws and with a running game that's probably the worst in the league. Add their terrible run defense to that equation, and it's a recipe for a disastrous year

Summed up perfectly. But all of this was how we ended last year. And did zero to fix it this offseason. "All in!!"

All of that is why it made perfect sense to let Dak walk (if you couldn't get him to waive the no trade), trade Ceedee, trade Micah, and use the extra money and all those picks to start rebuilding on both defensive and offensive lines first. Sign a journeyman Mayfield/Darnold type guy for $25 Mil a year and try to build a strong running game.

Instead they loaded all of their cap on Dak and Ceedee with garbage lines for them to work with. It's an incongruent plan of building a roster. They're way too top heavy and don't have the room to build up DL now.

it’s something that vexes me greatly, but I would take baker over dak right now in a fucking heartbeat.  and yes, he’d be about 30MM/year cheaper which is outrageous.  jerry and stephen are absolutely unreal.

A bold franchise would trade Parsons as he's a great athlete but soft as tissue paper. Teams realize they can just tire him out in the running game and then he's cooked.

Soft is the Cowboys DNA though. Jerry will make him the highest paid defender in the NFL.

This ^^ He paid $150 million for a team now valued close to $10 billion. $tadium and parking lot$ are full win or lose. He does not care about W’s or L’s, just $$$$$.

  • Revenue
The Cowboys' revenue for 2023 was $1.2 billion, which was an all-time high and made them the NFL's highest-grossing franchise. This was nearly $400 million more than the Los Angeles Rams, who were second in the league.

This would have been the ideal plan. I have been on board with trading Parsons but the best time to do it was this past offseason. This is now his 4th year and I would assume he wants an extension this offseason that will be very big. Not sure what the haul would be.

Could have gotten something for CD as he is a good WR that could be of value to someone.

Let Dak play out this season and move on.

But this front office does not want to deal with a total teardown rebuild. Can't even remember the last time we did that. First half of the 2000s? And even then, we never really tried to find the next QB for the future. We ran out the corpses of Bledsoe and Testaverde. Quincy Carter for one season. And a whole slew of junk before those 3. This front office is more comfortable with the known than the unknown. Except they misplayed it this time and we aren't even going to be good in the regular season as we have in the past. This is what happens when you ignore the glaring weaknesses.

Romo/Witten/Dez/Ware = Dak/CD/Parsons/Diggs. Some good talent that can win a lot of regular season games. Even a few wild card wins but outside of that, nada.

yep. Jerry is on his last legs.  the teardown rebuild isn't something he wants to wait for.  He hired McCarthy in hopes he could turn Dak into a poor man's Rodgers and win a Super Bowl(or at least get to one).  the problem is it was almost all Rodgers and very little McCarthy.

The OL and DL disaster is not something anyone on the team or the coaching staff is going to be able to overcome.

Yep lost in all this, well maybe not lost but not talked about as much, this OL stinks. Dak and CD are the big paid guys. Defense looks historically bad so those are the big talking points.

OL allows pressure all game long. They open very little holes for our shitty RBs. They aren't setting any type of edge.

I know him a little. I hang out with his daughter and her crew and her friends of friends. I was not invited to her wedding, but my friends were. I have had some cigar time with Jer though in the past few months.

Anyway, at this point, all he cares about is winning. He just has no idea how to do it… other than hiring a GM, and he’d rather feature himself in a gay porn vids than have the embarrassment of hiring a GM. Jerry knows what the team is worth but he has no idea what’s it’s fucking EBITDA is. He doesn’t care about selling tickets or parking or beers or merch. He may be a cartoon, but he’s not Mr Burns. He doesn’t care to be any richer, the argument is silly.

But speaking of silly, he is very much trying to luck into a Super Bowl win because he’s seen others do it. I say luck, because he knows he’s old and can’t entirely rebuild the roster. So he has to do it, more or less, with the same group of characters. He sees the Giants and Ravens and others as teams that caught the right groove with a veteran coach & QB combo and got a Super Bowl win. Thats his remaining mission.

But like I said. He has no idea how to do that. He’s been playing roster whack-a-mole for decades.

Some of my take is me projecting or trying to read between the lines. But in limited football conversation I’ve been a part of, money had absolutely nothing to do with it. He’s trying to win with his current core, and I think that it won’t work. But I hope I’m wrong.

I did like the hilarious discussion yesterday about if we had just paid Derrick Henry.  Anyone with any modicum of football knowledge that watches knows he'd be getting stuffed all over the place with our line.  Fuck, we've got 2 rookies and they are from Kstate and dirt burglar.  the left tackle in particular is going to be a bust.

i did enjoy the discussion though because anything that makes Jerry and jerry jr look like idiots is fine with me.

If someone makes terrible management decisions for 30 years and never changes course, I have to assume they don't ultimately care about winning. Not even 1 NFC championship appearance in nearly three decades? We're not talking about even best team in football. Two fucking playoff wins in a row has been impossible for Jerruh since Jimmy left in the early 1990s.

Drafting a running back 4th overall over Ramsey then giving Zeke his huge 2nd contract was piss poor. So was paying Dak like he's Mahomes. And on and on. Idiot fans will think the Cowboys actually have a chance every year though and buy jerseys.

So you're saying that dAk pReScOtT SuCkS aND iS OvErPaId. Every team pays their best players and still builds rosters. But not Dallas, can't afford $8 mil for a running back, so just blame the highly paid players.

There is only one way any of this will ever change. Players need to stop signing contracts with Jerry and saying publicly that it's because of team management. Draftees also need to publicly make clear they do not want to play for Jerry Jones. Even then it's a long shot, but as long as these assholes keep taking Jerry's money he'll never get it through his fat fucking skull that he's the fucking problem.

Dallas doesn't have a best player on their roster. I'm joking of course, but referring to Dak as a best player, even relative to the hapless Cowboys, misses the point. Even if his contract dint affect signing better players, why would you pay him the league's richest contract when he isn't even a top 15 QB and has shown no indication of taking his game to the next level?

This sums it all up and tells me he is not serious about winning. Doing the same thing over and over for nearly 30 years and getting the same result, that is being stubborn. He also runs this franchise like the local small town grocery store. This was very evident in the All Or Nothing Amazon series that featured Dallas years back. He employs all his hillbilly family to make decisions that determine the outcome of this franchise. He takes draft advice from his grandson. No one in his family comes close to being qualified to be the GM of this team. Sure, Will McClay is dangled out there but the Jones family still makes the final decisions.

So Jerry does know how to win, he just chooses not to because he'd rather lose his way than win someone else's way. He is so desperate to have his fingerprints over this team. He wanted Jason Garrett to be his Tom Landry. Jason Garrett was hired as OC before we even hired Wade. That is unheard of. HC usually brings all his guys in. Nope, Wade was given that clown Garrett as his OC. Then Garrett deliberately sabotages Wade in 2010 and gets him fired after the GB loss on SNF. And we get Garrett as our HC for about a decade.

All of this tells me he doesn't really want to win. He's an egotistical maniac who only wants to win if he's in charge and gets all the credit. Jerry could hire a real GM and a whole team of people to make sure Dallas stayed on track and kept competing for Super Bowls but nope. And here we are 30 years later dealing with the outcome of his ego.

Well, then which is it? All he cares about is winning or all he cares about is his pride? They appear incompatible.

He's well inside the top 15 and in two years won't be in the top 10 highest paid, because that's how the contract market works currently. If you want to move on without Dak it's not because he sucks or because you need to save money it's because there's no hope here so long as Jerry Jones is around and can only hire worthless retread coaches. Nobody else will work for him.

If Jerry had any sense (news flash, he doesn't), he'd have canned Fat Mike last year and made Harbaugh an offer he couldn't refuse.  Then sit in his owners suite, sit back and clap, and let Jim do his thing.

But that all makes to mich sense.

I could name 15 QBs I'd rather have, including retreads ike Andy Dalton. Dak has never shown that he can win the games that matter. And now he's the highest paid player in the league? Hey, as a Cowboy hater, I love it. Hope they sign him over and over.

Trading Parsons now would be selling at his lowest. He's not a fucking everydown defensive end. Zimmer is so old and uncreative he just stuck him at end like he's Jevon Kearse but he's too small for it

Here are 17 quarterbacks currently playing in the NFL I believe are better than Dak Prescott. Would love to hear what other people think of this list.

  • Matthew Stafford
  • Geno Smith
  • Baker Mayfield
  • Lamar Jackson
  • Josh Allen
  • C.J. Stroud
  • Patrick Mahomes
  • Justin Herbert
  • Kirk Cousins
  • Andy Dalton
  • Jared Goff
  • Jordan Love
  • Sam Darnold
  • Jalen Hurts
  • Brock Purdy
  • Derek Carr
  • Justin Fields
