That would mean someone (us hopefully) would have to beat her twice, or Texas tech wins the national championship

I think we can beat her twice but if not it's still much better than fucking ou winning their 5th home cws in a row

If Canady single handidly pitches her way to a championship for that very average Tech squad, then you tip the cap and move on. It would be the greatest postseason performance in NCAA softball history.

TK is tougher than we thought.  You go girl, you've earned it.

We got this.

She damn sure is.   She has been a different pitcher since coming in for relief in the Clemson game #2.   Not sure if it was some additional rest, some injury recovery or just got refocused.....

They said it was a mechanics issue they resolved

Holy Shit, Glasco just pulled an old school travel ball steal of home out of his bag of tricks.

That worked so well I now expect aggy to have Perez bat righty next season.

Tech literally stole home for their only run. I haven’t seen a coach call that play in many years.

Ok but how does a softball player steal home?  Like leave third with the pitch and beat it to the plate?  Go on a lazy toss back to the pitcher?

She left on the pitch and the catcher never saw her and threw the ball back to the pitcher.

It helped that there was a fat right hander at the plate who could block out the sun much less obscure the catcher’s vision.

Awesome. Thought about joining the thread but just before I started composing my post Henry gave us the lead and I wasn't about to change any mojo. Then watched the 7th on my phone as my son drove us home from his scrimmage. He has a permit and hasn't been driving long so it was the first time I wasn't nervous about his driving because I had something more important to worry about.

Ha ha. I'm in the exact same position. When I go driving with my son, I've been very strict about no distractions. No phones for him or me, no radio at all. But he has been doing pretty good with his driving. I'm at the point where I don't mentally update my will every time he pulls out of the driveway. So yesterday, I turned on Craig Way calling the baseball regional while we drove.

I think the dream scenario is Tech takes out OU with Canady. And we take out UCLA. Play Tech for the title.

Yep

Preferably with ou beating tech once so that canady will have thrown like 600 pitches before the final series.  Anything to drop her effectiveness even a tiny bit.

That too. With Texas winning in one and getting to chill

Lets talk strategy. Should we sit Kavan the game that Pickens starts if we play Tenn? That way we have fresh Kavan against either a very tired Pickens or the Tenn second stringer?

Still new to Softball. WTF is up with all these day games during the middle of the week when we're at work!?!

Next Longhorns game is Monday the 2nd at 11AM, followed by Monday the 2nd at 1:30PM?!?

They built in Tuesday as an off day before the champ series. The second game for each team on Monday is an if-necessary game. Texas and Tech each need 1 win Monday to advance to the champ series.

Kavan gets a day off again.  I doubt Pickens does.  Then at least we have the option of using her both games, depending on what happens in game 1 and how she feels.  If you sit her for game 2, you’ve limited your options.

I think you start TK on Monday, knowing your whole pen is ready to come in and she can always pitch in game 2. The pen hasn’t been touched yet

I guess I imagined typing the part about starting TK next game, and jumped straight into defending the position.

Thank you. That's crazy. Just do it at night on Mon and Tues if necessary.

So, if we can get to the championship game, it looks like our opponent will be either Texas Tech (wow, cool), Oregon, UCLA or OU?!

And TT has never gotten this far before?

Tech, Oregon or OU. UCLA and Tenn will play to face us in the semifinals.

Tech has never been to OKC and is now 2-0 all time

They specifically built Tuesday as an off day for both teams to rest and prepare.

Not only were the 4 best teams all on the same side of the bracket, but it was the day game bracket. Just a masterclass in seeding and scheduling.
