At this point (actually before this point) I'd probably just fire the manager. Might not light a spark, but where's the downside risk?

Of course, many will scream Espada doesn't deserve to be canned. I guess I get it. Then again, as ol' Bill Munny said....

clint eastwood Deserve's got nothing to do with it. GIF

I don't love the pitchers getting hammered in two games, but that isn't what bothered me the most during this series.

The absolute lack of fight at the plate and lack of situational awareness was stunning from a team that has some guys who are supposedly familiar with playing important games this time of year.

As far as Espada's lineups, fuck him.  Seriously I know McCormick isn't good, but he isn't Melton bad and they don't need to see much more to see he is horribly overmatched.

I just don’t understand the need to completely shuffle the lineup every single fucking game. Build some damn consistency.

we'll have to call up sugarland guys to have a bullpen tomorrow

The problem is all of the Sugarland guys are wearing Astros jerseys already.

He's a distilled version of all of Dusty Baker's faults.

Kyle Tucker might be costing himself some money this season.
I looked both these up this morning because i knew he had been struggling (so these are prior to todays games). Tucker and Cam recent splits

When the A's move to LV, I think it will be Astros, Rangers, A's, Rockies, and Arizona.

That would mean Seattle, Dodgers, Angels, Giants, and Padres on the West Coast.

Current AL West race

Look at it how you want, but this team still has the 3rd best record in the AL and the 5th best in baseball.  There is only one team in MLB that's on a separate tier right now, and I'm not sure if what they're doing is sustainable.

Fine to make whatever assumptions, but Manfred said:

“I think it’s pretty clear that we need a team in the Eastern time zone and one in the Western (or) Mountain time zone to make our formats work.”

Is Geographic Realignment Coming To The MLB? Here’s What Rob Manfred Has To Say

And all this is to guarantee ESPN gets multiple east coast playoff series and west coast playoff series.  😠

No way they split LAD/SF or CHC/STL.

Seems we're either really good or really bad. I'd naturally feel better if we'd played bad ball early and now were on an huge upswing. I think I really just need to temper my expectations about what these pitchers are (including guys rejoining the rotation) vs. what they were at their peak. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Yordan is back at anything close to his old self this year.

and I would love that alignment with no West Coast division rivals.

Yep, the Astros and Rangers have the worst geographically set up division in baseball.

Here’s Bowden’s proposed realignment plan. His big assumption is that Charlotte and Nashville get expansion teams.

they're not breaking up the cubs / cardinals

You wouldn't think so, but you aren't Manfred.  St. Louis and KC would be an interesting divisional rivalry because there are a lot of people who root for both teams in the midwest.

We are 15-21 since sweeping the Dodgers, being outscored 186-143. That breaks down to a 68 win season.

Since the start of July, the Astros are 2-19 when the opponent scores 5+ runs, and 18-3 when the opponent scores 4- runs.

Another tough one to do away with is SF/LA. But there are several more matchups that would intensify as division rivals.

If they are going to do away with the NL and AL, some rivalries are going to get broken up.

nyy / bos

chc / stl

those two aren't going anywhere: all other rivalries can be broken up

I figure Manfred will be more worried about big market/smaller market mixes than historical rivalries.

Like i think Bowdens (who is a moron anyway) Yankees division and Baltimore divisions would never happen.

Jim Bowden is usually an idiot. That’s not bad. Once we got moved to the AL and now with NL having the DH who gives a shot anymore?
