The stretch ahead from 7/28 to 8/13 is historically the hottest period of the year in Texas, based on daily average high temperature.

Yup, but 8/8 is the date when the average high starts to drop which is always something to look forward to, but right now I'm not bothered by summer. We'll see if I feel that way on 8/30.

The hot, dry days touching 100 only stuck around SETX through Wednesday. Back to mid-90's and high humidity for the foreseeable future. Still a good 40 days away from when I start scouring the GFS models for any hint of the Fall's first cool front.

Only noticeable difference over the next few weeks will likely be the days getting a little bit shorter. Currently losing a little about 90 seconds of sunlight each day. 2 Fridays from now will be the last sunset of the year later than 8 p.m. in the eastern portion of TX.

Man, I'm getting to the point of the Summer where I'll be happy just to see a day on the forecast where the low is even 2 degrees less than the day before.  Every single day in the current 14-day outlook for Houston is a high between 92-96, high humidity, and a low of 78 or 79. Groundhog Day weather, where it's just the same day over and over and over.

Really looking forward to my upcoming trip to Colorado the week after next. That first evening in town at sunset and it's in the 50's after flying out from a heat index over 100 is one of life's great pleasures.

I did yard and pool work for two days this weekend it was awesome outside. Sat in the pool a bit ago enjoying the perfection of my work and looking at the partly cloudy skies and high 90s on the temp and said to the wifey, this is how I remember summers as a kid, hot but completely doable even outside most of the day.  We found shade, a pool and enjoyed a little breeze here and there and nothing close to heat exhaustion. I have no complaints.
