lol ignore the roughing against mush (it’s him so sure) and the bad interference in the o zone, then call that after the hit beyond the whistle.

Send somebody from both teams off but Jamie was beyond stupid there

Benn and Seguin are supposed to be the hosses. They are basically coattail riders now.

They have virtually nothing to do with the win and repeatedly put their team in a bind.  It's hardly an isolated event.

For sure. They’ve been baiting Dallas and he took it that time. Find a matching minor though.

i think they think Jake is slow to butterfly and they can snap it 5 hole.

Penalty kill has been great this postseason. Most of the penalties are Bennguin being dumbasses.

I have nothing against the studio announcer, but the bullshit demonstrations with real pads are just as dumb as the football play breakdowns by the studio guys.

It doesn't matter what sport/who it is/whatever, any time you see men in suits with sports equipment, something stupid is about to happen.

didn't mind the timing of Jamie's penalty this time... went to defend our entire PK (Esa), Benn's 2 hits in the second back to back also seemed to wake the team up. electric atmosphere in the AAC

still cant score on the empty net sadly lol

They’re glue/leadership guys now at their age/mileage, which is why the dumb penalties are inexcusable. They’re Guy Carbonneau/Mike Keane guys on this team if you compare back to the 99 Cup team. Any points out of them is a bonus. Rantanen, Wyatt, Robertson, Roope are the weight-carriers in the points department. (Dutch really, really needs to get going, though.)

Carbonneau and keane are exactly who I was thinking of last night; however, I don't remember them repeatedly making stupid idiotic penalties that hurt the team

They didn’t, which is why this is frustrating. Jamie’s penalty could’ve been a killer.

The more I thought about it, the dumber it gets. Faux tough guy bullshit with a 2-goal lead and 5 mins left. This is the President’s Trophy winner, who has outplayed you in the game save the goalie spot. They pulled the goalie and scored twice to steal Game 7 in Round 1 just a week ago. If they can knock one in on the PP, it’s even more white-knuckle time for the final 2 mins. We all know how bad we are at empty-net goals. Next thing you know you’re in OT.

Just a galactically stupid self-inflicted wound by Benn. The calls against Seguin came from a guy trying to make a play. Bad luck but it wasn’t a total brain-dead move. And Jamie is this team’s captain.

A holding penalty 200 feet from your own goal is a stupid penalty. Not to mention 17 seconds into game 2 Seguin managed to get a 4 minute high sticking penalty. Down 1-0 less than 5 minutes into the game as a result.

I'm reading a lot of "Jets should have won" and "Stars got outplayed" and other such tropes. Did they, though? Seems to me they played exactly the type of game all season that leads to a win. Sustain the other teams' best effort, and then punch back and harder, faster, and in series. That's exactly what we did last night. The difference in the game is Dallas was 50% on the PP and WPG 0%. That an Otter being the better goalie. But I thought our 5v5 play was pretty damn even. Don't have time now to dig up the advanced metrics now but that was what my eyeballs saw

Well, yeah, I guess. But they were both early last night. Benn's came at a much more pivotal time -- and was completely avoidable.

I will not way the Jets "should have" won but I definitely think they were better than us last night -- except in goal, which is kind of a big deal. I haven't looked at the advanced metrics either but the first 40 mins appeared that the rink was tilted considerably in Winnipeg's favor. The Jets had 70 shot attempts and had 13-8 advantage in dangerous scoring chances or whatever it's called. But they have a goalie problem -- ours is playing much better than theirs. We were opportunistic and actually the one goal the Jets scored was a bad one.

the difference was hellebuyck's glove is slow and based on last night otter should start for the us in italy

hellebuyck should have easily saved the 1st and could have saved the 2nd but the finns have long-range marksmen mojo regardless of who is in the pipes

where there is a will there is a way

i think back to going out to sharks and avs teams i felt like we outplayed but all they did was find a way to win

it feels jinxy to say we are just finding a way

it would be nice if the seguin and benn would stop faafoing and miro gets going

I love everything that the Finns are doing.  But at what point do we get real concerned about the complete non-production from guys like Duchene, Marchment, and Dadanov?

I'm giving Jamie Benn a pass here.  He's old and slow.  He's in the last year of his contract, and he's primarily along for the ride.  If he can throw some hits and give you some tempo to give a spark, that's really all we need from him.  And Seguin still has some jump.  He scored a couple against the Avalanche.  As a third-liner, I think I'm fine with what he's bringing.

But we need some contribution from Duchene and Marchment.  Really anything.
