No way Flood spends 1 second looking at this tiny guy.

I’ll give Auburn credit. They understand their roster sucks and they need to rebuild. Thus, zero effort to retain Woodyard and Coleman. They know who they are.

Meanwhile Florida is selling everything not bolted down to keep Woods, Wilson, and Baugh. They think they’re close and they’ll run it back with Sunbelt Billy 2.0 and a new QB. They are very misguided on who they are.

Watching Coleman’s season highlight reel, it was legitimately difficult to assess his YAC ability because most of the catches were 50/50 balls where he had to battle a DB for position. I think we’re all expecting Arch to continue on the trajectory of the last half of the season, and if that version of #16 shows up throwing dimes with anticipation, Coleman will think he’s playing a different sport than the one he suffered thru at Auburn.

Having a 50/50 ball receiver is such a massive upgrade. Lockett may be the only other receiver with that ability on our roster. I’m Not including incoming freshmen with that comment

"obvious" observation but no playoff hopefuls are taking these types even if we really liked him last year

What’s left?

- Delano Townsend. I think we’re done at OL if we get him. We can probably overpay some because Robertson is coming back. I’d prefer we take Townsend and another IOL starter, but they asked Robertson to come back for a reason, and I’m sure Brooks was expensive.

- Wendell Gregory. I think Bobby said Texas likes him, but his number is too high. But Gerry keeps bringing him up so I assume we’re negotiating.

- I think we need another LB, but Biles wasn’t cheap for sure. Losing the Wisconsin kid sucks because Biles and Smith are both WILLs.

- Gerry said we’re done at RB.

- Tre Richardson has gone awfully quiet. I’m pretty good with a big 3 of Coleman, Wingo, and Mosley. I’d spend the money elsewhere.

Everyone would like Wendell Gregory. Nobody wants to pay what he's asking.

It will happen.

We still need a backup center maybe that Yale kid competes for the starting job and is depth

I seriously doubt that we would stop in the OL room with just Delano Townsend. I have no idea if we're even involved there but we are stockpiling at every position so I don't see it like that.

At least I hope not.

That's what I'm thinking on the Yale OL. could be a jack of all trades guy. He's not playing tackle unless there is an injury.

Most of the 9.95ers felt UT need 4 OL (if not more) before the portal opened & UT lost Kibble/Cruz/Neto. So no way UT only takes 2 portal OL.

I don’t know shit about fuck but pre-portal I thought the number was 2-3 IOL and 1 tackle. Now I bet the wish internally is 3-4 IOL (with one being able to handle center) and a tackle. Maybe 2 tackles if we’re “all in” for depth.

Agreed. I hope we spend more (of other guys' money) than anyone else. I want us to pay top dollar at every position. Why the fuck wouldn't I want that?

If you “over-pay” and results are lacking, donors will back off.

Texas was clearly fine with them walking out the door or they would’ve retained them. So you are still thinking Texas is building for 2 years from now. Texas wants to win now and they are spending the money on guys who will help them win this year.

The issue Clark is going to eventually run into is most teams already know who their RB1 is going to be. Especially teams that will allocate mid six figures.

We seemed fine with letting Cruz/Neto depart, but IIRC we liked Kibble and Baylor just came in with a pretty large offer + playing time we couldn't justify matching

I was pretty sure it was going to play out like this. Not with specific names but clear upgrades at every room on the team.

And what do we have here… clear upgrades at every room on the team. I think Sark is a really good coach. I think this will be the first time he’s had a balanced offense that’s really good at every position. I think we are going to be really good next year.

Really nice day gents.

Generally agreed. I think Sark let his pants slip down a little this off-season and it looks like he's trying hard to recover.

I'd like to see some OL action, but he seems to be making a lot of the right noises at present.

As Sydney pointed out, Shannon Terry being a salty bitch about NIL money is a bizarre take. If it means so much to you Shannon, put your money where your mouth is and contribute a $1 million annually to Bama’s NIL Fund.

Bama doesn’t have a QB and their entire fanbase fucking hates DeBoer. Of course they’re going to lose players to Texas.

It may not be a bizarre take if the professionalization of college football hurts his business model. His whole business needs a long drawn out process, of camps, visits, top 10 posts, commitments, de-commitments and flips too keep subscribers engaged. He also needs all the hanger ons, like HS coaches, trainers, and uncles to feed his writers info. Tyler Atkinson’s recruitment is really bad for his business model where schools lock up blue chips early and then there’s zero drama since contracts are signed. A de-emphasizes of high school recruiting and the transfer portal only being open for a month is not a great set up for his business model.

I’m skeptical. Gerry or Jeff said today they really like the 4 OL they signed in 2025. Coleman Bros, Jackson Christian, and Brooks. All 4 were retained.

They talked Robertson into coming back. So maybe they think they have their starting center, LT and RT. The Oregon State kid is a developmental piece. 2 starter types makes a lot of sense. That’d basically get them to 4.

So, are there some good OL out there that could opt for the portal this week? Are there OL out there currently holding out for more $$$, who may end up waiting too long, perhaps having to accept less, or possibly not ending up on a team at all?

The problem is you're not going to land 4 quality OL in the portal. It's just going to be bodies. How many teams have legit depth on the OL? Maximize the best 6 or 7 OL.

Yep. They’re not going to find 4 starters in the portal. They’d be very fortunate to get 2. It’s why the Michigan bullshit stung pretty good.

yep, people make fun of Robertson but if he entered the portal I bet he would be one of the top interior OL and get a decent pay day. That gives you perspective.

What was the real range on what Coleman ended up costing? Just so I can laugh at people who say we spent 4M on him.

Fuck it. Are we supposed to be ashamed that Texas has a lot of money to spend on its roster?

The Yale OL is a tackle and is also being pursued by Oregon and Indiana. If he chooses Texas it will be to start at RT and Baker will slide inside to Guard. That would leave OC and OG available for two of Brooks, Robertson, Oregon St kid, and/or whoever else they pick up from the portal.

No one said Texas needed 4 OL. All of the $9.95ers also knew that Cruz was gone, Neto was probably gone and most likely Kibble too. Nothing was projected without accounting for those risks. So what in the fuck are you doing with this post?

I think most figured Cruz/Neto were gone and that was already factored in. It sounds like they want two more starters on the offensive line even if one is a tackle.

Portal has definitely changed things, and watching how OL management moves forward will be interesting. Under the now old HS recruit model, you needed what, 15-18 OL on the roster knowing that some will take time to develop and some will never make it? Now, you might be able to get by with 10-12 knowing you can restock with experience in the portal.

Good luck to him. He was actually the higher rated brother coming out of high school, it’s crazy how often that happens to us when we take brothers. The lower rated one ends up significantly better.

interesting I assumed Baker would want to stay at tackle as more money in that position in the NFL...
